Don’t know if it’s a bug, but Shadow’s Embrace now has a limited selection of conditions it can clear, whereas before it didn’t. This is displayed in the tooltip, but it’s still annoying that I can’t remove Fear by clicking Blinding Powder anymore. If it’s an intentional change, learning the rationale behind it might be nice, as thieves don’t really have a lot of condition removal options!

The only time that the Mug+Hidden Thief combo applies revealed is when you activate it starting from a stealth state. I’m not even sure if this is a bug or not. If you take it from the viewpoint that steal should never apply revealed regardless of traits then yes it is a bug so I’ll add it.

I haven’t been able to reproduce any ICD on Shadows Embrace but I’ll keep testing. Went into SR then stood in lava. It removed the burning every 3 seconds as advertised.

That’s not a bug it’s a nerf. It sucks but it’s not a bug.

The rationale I can think of is this: they want thieves to be glass cannon specialists; bad condi cleanse with a low hp pool means your only chance against condi classes is bursting them down. Seems keeping in line with their general “everyone will be more glassy because everyone gets damage buffs” theme. I guess they dislike bunkers.

Also, patch notes have Trapper’s Respite (Deadly Arts Adept trait) on a 10-second ICD. The game itself has it on a 30-second ICD. Unsure if it’s just a post typo or a legit bug.

This has always been so. Any skill that inflicts damage while in stealth incurs reveal. It would be great if this were an exception, though.

The only reason I included it is I’m not sure they intended for the mug trait to redefine how steal operates. Without mug you can steal from stealth without issue and remain in stealth. With hidden thief you can even extend that stealth for 2 more seconds. Throw in mug and suddenly the “passive” steal is now an attack. This very well could be working as intended, but I figured I’d include it in the off chance that this was not the case.

*Edit- On second thought since it wasn’t introduced with the latest patch the whole argument is moot.

It doesn’t feel like they did, but since I didn’t think ahead to get numbers without any traits and compare with same stats after update, can’t be sure. Perhaps they did and I’m just missing the other bonuses we used to have in the first lines… but a certain level of damage from air sigil doesn’t line up with the same mug and backstab damage the way it did prepatch, I’d say cloak too but that was ‘normalized’ so to be expected it does less. At least I don’t think they buffed sigils…

Actually, I just tested Hidden Thief+Mug with steal. I was stealthed for 3 seconds after using it. Of course, I wasn’t hurt… maybe the life steal is what causes the problem?

Edit: I tried it when I was hurt, and I still got the 3 seconds of stealth. Um… stealth bug fix?

Daggerstorm doesn’t remove conditions – or at least I haven’t noticed it.

ETA: With trickster (forgot to point that out) – I think none of the tricks is removing conditions actually.

The Shadow Rejuvenation and Withdraw bugs need to be fixed ASAP. A mere 4344 heal on 18s cd is ridiculous, and the initiative regen on SR only applying after 3 seconds promotes stealth camping, which a lot of people QQ about thus bringing us nerfs.

Thanks for the clarification on that. 5% is meh though, it’s the total picture that has me wondering where some of my damage is in wvw. Tested and air sigil performs as expected, mug and backstab didn’t. Performs ok just isn’t as high as it was. As long as it works still, and it mostly seems to, I’m content, just a lot of odd things, which big patch means lots of bugs anyways.

In the video, they said the original Dagger Training’s 5% damage was going to be baseline. Since then, I’ve seen or heard nothing about it. Only the 5% from the original Combined Training trait has been officially baselined.

I was hoping for the 5% for daggers also, though I don’t know if it was included, missed, or reconsidered.

F1 is not supposed to store anything. The main point of the change was so that you could see your steal timer without having to discard the previously stolen skill. In cases where you want to steal again without using the skill (i.e. Throw gunk) this is invaluable.

I believe it’s actually all dual-wield skills, not just daggers. So Unload should also have the 5% increase… I think :-P

Hmm, I was bouncing in and out of the Mists a lot so that might have fixed it without me noticing.

Having to set your spec in PvE, sPvP, and WvW is causing a lot of confusion.

Tested this in sPvP and it’s working fine for me. Might have just been the whole needing to zone out of sPvP then back in for traits to update. Can’t even verify that bug as I jumped in and out before knowing it could have been a problem.

hmm, I tried it in sPVP and it didn’t work, but I think I haven’t zoned out before. I’ll give that a shot!

I thought about testing a build centered around “runes of rage”, “unrelenting strikes” and “no quarter”. anybody tried something like that?

I tested “unrelenting strikes” again:

It does NOT work with Shortbow autoattack which is how I tested it – but it seems to work with everything else (also shortbow 2).

The condition clearing we have are so lame and they still keep pushing us and giving us a run for our money. I don’t even…

  • 1. Signet of accurary: Barely worth the passive and only clear conditions if you are kissing your allies.
  • 2. Shadow step: Removes conditions on the second jump. Which means that if you were standing into 4 Necro Wells and you jumped out, you have to JUMP BACK IN again to remove the conditions, which will effectively infect you again.
  • 3. Infiltrator’s Strike: One condition cleared for 5 initiative. Shall I say more?
  • 4. Shadow’s Embrace: THE ONLY WORTHY ONE. And now they’ve limited the conditions it clears and the initial proc.
  • 5. Guarded Initiation: Guys, come on. Really? One of weakness, slow or vulnerability while over 90% hp…? Just come on…
  • 6. I know there is a 6th one that nobody uses because traps.

I don’t know whats happening in those offices but something is not right. I feel like the Thief community is not being heard at all.

I used CnD to get the animation going, and [Steal] for the shadow step, this would allow me to stealth usually, the basic combo we all know, but now with the Hidden Thief trait you get revealed that’s what I mean. I know it won’t help much but yeh(sorry about the log out, F12 on steam takes screenshots, but by looking at the UI you’ll see what happens):

No offense but how should that work? You stealth and hit = you’re revealed.
There has been a bug with mug and hidden killer, but I have never heard of a CnD hidden killer bug – and I don’t think it’s a bug.

Do it like me and don’t use hidden killer, especially not when running D/D.
Mug and Hidden killer currently bugs in (my) wvw as well – and it bugs more often the more wonky your internet connection is. I’m using dagger training instead (how to make a trait viable).

Just tried it in HoTM on on the NPC’s there and it’s working fine for me (killed them with nothing but shortbow auto-attack spam). Note there is an ICD of 10 seconds on the ability so you are only going to see that 4 seconds of Fury every 10 seconds. Also make sure you zone out of sPvP into the PvE world at some point, there have been reports of bugs related to just staying in sPvP related to abilities not working properly.

I dunno, C&D + Steal is kinda a bread & butter combo of D&D. Even though I never ran the build I was under the impression that for quite a while the old “stealth on steal” trait did work with this combo (just extended the stealth duration provided by C&D). If we can get conformation from someone that this was working at some point I’ll add it to the list. I won’t at the moment though because I’m not 100% sure that was the case.

It wouldn’t, but the person above also threw CnD in there, which does and should reveal you.

I dunno, C&D + Steal is kinda a bread & butter combo of D&D. Even though I never ran the build I was under the impression that for quite a while the old “stealth on steal” trait did work with this combo (just extended the stealth duration provided by C&D). If we can get conformation from someone that this was working at some point I’ll add it to the list. I won’t at the moment though because I’m not 100% sure that was the case.

I agree that CnD + Steal is bread and butter of offhand dagger builds (p/d, d/d, sometimes s/d), but it has never stacked with Hidden Thief. Most people did NOT take Hidden Thief with these builds pre-patch since it played terribly with CnD + Steal. I remember very clearly trying this myself on some builds, wondering why I was getting Revealed, and then going “Aha, damage after initial stealth.”

That hasn’t changed, though it’s worth asking post-patch since they did change it for Mug + Hidden Thief, which used to also Reveal you, but now does not.

But mug is supposed to hit the same moment you steal, when it bugs it hits after you stealth. CnD is an animation. If they had been able to include CnD into not revealing the hidden killer user, they also would’ve been able to fix last refuge as the command for that would’ve been “No reveal for x seconds after using hidden killer”. It’s easier to synchronize hidden killer and mug.

Edit: And come to think of it that would’ve been abused as you could basically backstab endlessly without being revealed.
