[Suggestion] Daredevil - Karl please read
1. There isn’t anything wrong with 2 traitlines complementing one another. You can choose to run them both or run one of them, the choice is yours. Nobody is forcing it upon you.
2. I’m going to go more in depth as to why you don’t have just one extra dodge per fight. First, you can get more out of things that gain endurance. If you use an energy sigil at 75 endurance, you have 125 endurance, rather than previously only getting 25. Same with signet of agility and other endurance granting skills/traits. Also, let’s say you dodge at 125 endurance and you are left with 75 endurance; you’re closer to your next dodge than you would be with 2 dodges. Since you have more capacity for endurance, you’re able to go over 100, dodge, and still be close to your 2nd dodge. People are looking at this too close-mindedly without thinking about it mechanically.
3. From my experience playing daredevil, it’s not even hard to get to full endurance, even without Brawler’s Tenacity or Vigor. And it’s going to be even better, considering Endurance Thief is getting fixed. The physical heal is also going down in channel time, although not in this beta, so that will improve regen as well.
4. While an extra dodge may not be the most exciting thing in the world, it is unique to the Daredevil and effective, despite what others may say. But I don’t think the traits from Acro and DD need merged; rather Acrobatics needs buffed without overpowering Daredevil when used in unison. Right now, Acrobatics + DD is purely an evasive playstyle. Daredevil with Deadly Arts or Critical Strikes has good sustainability with more damage, and more weakness. Do remember that weakness is a defense as well, and it’s not PURELY dodges. You also have a nice block, and weapon skill evades/blinds. So you don’t have to waste your whole dodge bar at once, which is what I’m assuming a lot of people do, leading to the comments about 50 endurance only being usable at the start of a fight. This goes well with my 2nd point. You can also stunlock people, and save up endurance while you’re killing the opponent.
Edit: In conclusion, 50 extra endurance on paper may not sound that good, but in practical use is pretty good, and you can run Acrobatics with Daredevil but you certainly don’t have to. It has enough sustain on its own.

I think the opposite as you OP.
Acrobatics should be restored to what it was in the past. Once Daredevil’s grandmaster traits gets fixed and given to us baseline, you can put dodge effect traits in there. Stuff like:
- Offense – Dodges do 20% more damage. After a successful evade, your next attack has a 100% chance to crit. (icd 10 or so)
- Defense – Evading an attack causes 1/4 second daze.
- Utility – Boons and Conditions triggered by dodging have a 33% longer duration.
Thief is all about mobility, and what better way to encourage that than remaking Acrobatics into Thief’s mobility line? A +25% movespeed minor—ala Chronomancer—would go a long way toward reinforcing Thief’s profession identity.
If they’re going to keep talking game on Thief being “the most mobile”, they need to show it. Currently, 90% of our mobility is inextricably linked to Shortbow #5, and that creates an untold amount of problems.
Thief is all about mobility, and what better way to reinforce that idea than Acrobatics being remade into our “mobility line”? A +25% movespeed minor—similar to what Chronomancer is getting—would go a long way toward reinforcing Thief’s profession identity.
I agree. Daredevil aside all of our future elite specs will require some high mobiility that fits right into the acrobatics line.

As much as I’d like to see interesting differences between professions on a baseline level, it seems to be against their design philosophy. Still, having meaningful playstyle differences attached to minors is a good enough compromise.
It’s not a daredevil issue, but i feel like i MUST take trickery with every spec i play.
Without the 3 extra initiative thief feels so much more boring and useless .
I would love to see a dev playing thief without trickery , perhaps they will then notice how dependant we are from trickery.
The steal cooldown is nice, but we can live without , but +3 initiative is a gamebreaker for every spec out there , it’s like attument cooldown was for ele .

This is indirectly intended of them it is the same for every class unless you are in WvW or PvE anything works there. Possibly for balance purposes because everyone realized this after a couple hours on a class they’ve made those classes..

That’s right. That is an arenanet developer sitting there saying that dodge will not be enough to survive most of the expansion content.
Meanwhile another arenanet developer goes and designs our entire elite spec around dodge.
Best suggestion imo is to start all over with DD, scrap everything thus far. Take ideas from the community and release the new Elite Specialization again whenever it’s ready.
I’d personally rather wait a bit longer for something that has effort put into it, than use something that looks like it was thrown together overnight in a hurry.

Just wait until tuesday and he said by dodging alone he didnt say dodge would be useless.
Also since dd gets more dodge capability maybe they meant most classes.
He has three E-specs to work on…you can’t expect him to ignore the other 2 because we are screaming loudly -.-
