Thief pistol buff
It needed a rework, not just a damage buff, but better than nothing. Still will be spam 3 forever and never use 2. Maybe Vital Shot will actually do damage though.

I, for one, picked my Pistol skins on the basis of their lovely, smooth, metallic barrels.

Well, there’s certainly room for more improvement and flat damage wasn’t even the main thing wrong with the p/p set. Hopefully we hear more on Tuesday but in the meantime…
They need to rework pistol 1 & 2 so that it’s not just a 3 spamfest.
1200 range, bring back Opportunist
If you use IP with PP this will bring in more heals. If vital shot damage boosted 20 percent I think all it needs there is a further increase in speed as in 1/3 second rather than 1/2 second and it in a good place.
Number 2 still needs something.

“recharge bullet” skill : no initiative cost, 10 second cool-down, recharge 6 initiative.

Are you being facetious?
That is well outside of the design paradigm.
If anything, it’d be a shot that recharges Endurance… which would actually be great, but that’s neither here nor there.
a trivial buff is trivial
making shadow embrace a minor trait, making acrobatics not suck or adding condition management/utility to CS would be what I’d call a buff
pistols are a lost cause

I think it needs something unique that is not duplicated on other sets.
As example “Hail of lead”
Immobilize enemy player for 2s roll backward as firing reflecting all projectiles. Stunbreak. Evade 1s. 2 sec reflect.
You know what might be fun?
Make the autoattack do like… 60% of the damage it does now
and double it’s speed
and make it so that your shots have one of those little projectile destroying fields on them… or give us a trait for it, even.
Curve the bullet
The 20% damage buff is nice and all, but I’m not sure enough to be worth it. They NEED to add Ricochet back in some form, there needs to be some way to hit multiple targets at once.
It doesn’t have to the the exact old trait, they could make the bounce baseline to some of the skills, or turn them into piercing cones, or something, but you need to be able to hit more than one enemy at a time to make P/P worth it.

I just can’t help but feel that Vital Shot does enough damage, but it needs to be cooler… you know?
Something gimmicky just to make it more fun.
The thing that needs a real power boost is Pistol 2.

Pretty sure he said “At least 20%”, which makes me believe that some skills or some skill will get more. I don’t think they will add Ricochet in, though

There’s no way Ricochet is coming back. There may eventually be some other form of P/P AoE, though (piercing would still be best imo).

we have to actively react to miriad of passives from other classes while having ourself little condi removal/heals/no protection/invuls and no access to survival due to consistent revealed spam

Fine, but we neither deal enough damage, nor are able to survive. I posted some numbers about our “ridiculous burst” in the PvP forums. Against a competent player, we’re looking at a 0.5s window to deal damage to them after backstab. This leads to something like ~10k damage assuming all of it crits and is unmitigated (by protection or otherwise). I don’t think that being able to 100-0 is conducive to a skill-based environment, so the only reasonable option, in my opinion, is to boost survivability. How that will be done is up to debate, but it definitely needs help.
Edit: I should also mention that these numbers were found using the Light Armor golem, so these will be the highest possible numbers without modifiers.

Which is exactly what the balance team seems to test against, that and moose.

Because watching someone die while you’re dying is totally rewarding. I know I love killing someone while I’m being stomped. Totes rewarding.
