Was infracted because of something I wrote on this forum the other day

You’re righto on that, everyone I’ve tried to convince that the build is good says it sucks. But good idea, I think I will make a short montage vid!

Edit: Suggest me some decent free recording software. Does the built in windows 10 stuff actually work?

Nvidia shadowplay. Windows 10 isn’t bad as Zero Day suggested, but I haven’t tried the capture software because shadowplay already does such a great job for me.

Was just about to recommend Shadowplay if he has an nVidia GPU. That software is absolutely amazing and it really upsets me I run a card on older architecture currently that isn’t supported, but the weaker card in the same series does.

Yeah, I love it too. I’m running on a 770 and it has no noticeable effect on framerate. I uploaded a raw video in that to show the video capture quality.

Yea, it shouldn’t have an effect on framerate at all because Shadowplay works on the hardware level- the GPU effectively just hands off the results of the rendering to a hard drive. The processing done here is completely minimized and is all done entirely in perfectly-optimized ways on already-fast/optimized hardware. Goes to show just how far optimized software gets you, and how abstraction in coding ultimately comes at huge performance costs despite making API’s easier for programmers.

I got like a 2 week ban or something, for calling Karl out. On top of that, I can post like once an hour or something, getting an overflow 3600 second message.

To kind of get back on track, I expect whatever weapon/sepc we get in HoT is going to suck and be woefully underpowered (at least compared to every other profession). I don’t think it will be because they don’t know how to balance thieves insomuch as they are just apathetic when it comes to this one profession. The dev in charge really doesn’t seem to be even mildly enthusiastic about the profession, given how he can’t even remember trait names or what they do.

Edit: I’d go so far to bet that thieves will have their spec revealed last or second to last, and if the datamined info is accurate, it will have the second lamest specialization name, Dare Devil. (Dragon Hunter being the first)

It’s almost like the Mesmer spec will bring more stealth to mesmers and the thief’s spec will bring less. Go figure.

And we’re supposed to be the master of staying in the shadows, and acrobatics. I really believe that the Dev’s are intimidated to come to the Thief section, because 1 we’re an Elitest profession. If you are going to play a Thief, and think you can just be casual with it, and stay in the background, while other’s are up top fighting in the main lines than switch profession. We are elitest, and with that comes kitteniness, arrogance, and condescension. Anet doesn’t want to be constantly reminded that they can’t play their class, let alone fix, or remember traits for the class. They don’t have the time to play Thief like most of us on these forums do, which is high tier game play. So in anticipation of getting verbally annihilated, counter argumented or corrected, they shy away from the Thief community. (But that’s just my opinion)

Best Elite spec would be the Capt. Ginyu move from DBZ. Switch classes with your opponent then murder them because thief is so badly outclassed.

Sadly I find this funny because it would be so true… . After reading this I got to thinking about it and I feel that the thief needs to take a page from the mesmer for once. Not the GW2 Mesmer but the GW1 version. If anyone remembers “Arcane Thievery” where a mesmer can steal a skill from an enemy (random skill) “Arcane Thievery” becomes that skill for 10 seconds and the enemy is locked out of the skill that was stolen for ten seconds. If they used this in place or in addition to the current thief steal I could see it opening a lot more high risk high reward.

Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with you on the dragonhunter. Reaction seems pretty well mixed which is good considering it’s only seen 1 beta weekend. Look at how terrible the reaction was to the Revenant the first trial and how much better it was received at the BWE. The problems with the Tempest seem to run a little deeper, but DH strikes me as hitting at least decently close as a first attempt.

Yeah as a thief who almost exclusively plays tournaments, i’m hoping at this point that another class gets the mobility a thief has, so I don’t have a reason to play thief anymore.

First, to folks who said that the devs must still be reading the forums because they got infracted for something: actually, that’s the moderators and community managers, or whatever they call the people who have the unenviable job of having to read entire forum sections. They might pass on feedback to devs, or perhaps point out specific posts to which a reply might be appropriate. I imagine the developers will only play closer attention after the elite spec reveal, and BWEs. So that will be the time to post as much as we can.

Also, about “what until the elite is out to see if it solves our issues”: I don’t think that would solve any issues with other traitlines. Synergies might make them stronger than before, sure, but that’s not a solution to the issues themselves. Just a way to make people take said lines together with the elite.
For example, if Acrobatics were only good with the new elite, then it’d still be just as bad on its own.

Finally, @ Heapheaus: yeah, I’d probably do the same. The thing is, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. Judging by how Anet has been changing things, I think that their directive is that thieves have to stay the most mobile profession. However, any other aspect is fair game. (Mesmers can out-stealth us, others can out-burst us, and so on.) This ensures that thieves still have a reason to exist, however small their niche is, and that complaints about them from other classes are kept as low as can be.

Dragonhunter and Tempest offer different gameplays whereas Berserker, Reaper and Chronomancer look like straight upgrades.
So we can expect something that will play differently instead of an upgrade.

Pretty sure that Engineer is next, since we have replaced them as the game’s most worthless and unloved class now that Anet has given away all of our roles.
Frankly at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if our Elite specialization was, essentially, just a requirement to make Acrobatics worthwhile again. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Thieves needing to take two trait lines just to be good at one thing we’re supposed to be the best at anyway.

Anet knows they’re standing on a thin line with the Thief community, so they already know that if they don’t make this other option (elite spec) viable then a majority of thief population will either quit or switch toons, which is not what they need for their game.

You’re not getting a response. They don’t ever reply in threads in the thief section. It doesn’t matter your arguments are valid. All that matters is people who don’t play thief QQ and they want to please those people.

As long as they keep you (not specifically YOU) in game, there’s a chance that you will buy some gems…. So, re-rolling toons probably means nothing for them. Take for instance the Ranger and how it’s been in a bad shape for a long time… Like really there’s only a handful of classes that they got right, more or less… I’m sure some of those that main-ed the ranger from day 1 have re-rolled.
