@Xenth: Defend zergs any way you want, they’ve been despised by most gamers since their inception, and for the most part always will be by people who actually like PvP and competitive fights. Some people like the idea of squaring off with an opponent. Other people, like yourself I presume from the premise of your post, prefer the fight where their friends hold a guy down while you kick them repeatedly.

To be fair, the reason I -WANT- to fight Maguuma/DB rather than skipping them entirely is I DO think it’s a good match-up. And I think they’d agree. The problem is, right now we’re facing 2 much weakened servers who have extreme coverage weaknesses. I think Kaineng NEEDS the fight with Maguuma/DB in order to realize “These are the littlest giants.” and change up our tactics to something more appropriate to our new Tier.

I played on Friday night (flip night)-Yak’s Bend. It was even for a few hours. I logged in Sunday and it’s all Kaineng, I mean all blue, save a spawn point in our homeland. I’m on Yak’s and enjoy WvW. There are reasons for domination. Congratulations to Kaineng, you deserve to move like Maguuma did by dominating last week. I’m noticing a pattern: one overwhelming dominant world v 2 unremarkable opponents. Certainly there must be reasons for this pattern.

the pattern is simple. major free transfers flooded the top WvW servers so whole guilds moved either A) couldn’t deal with the competition in the higher brackets or B ) have to run in zergs bigger than 40+ couldn’t flood the map due to 4 hour + ques so they moved to lower level servers so they could zerg rush the lower tiers and completely dominate inflating their win records with ridiculously out matched servers. Really not that difficult to dominate when you outnumber the other servers 10 to 1 the majority of the day.

It was actually C.) deadweight issues.

Top tier servers were mostly high pop servers on launch, so when people get bored of the game and cease playing it(for either a long time or never returning/too afraid to cancel account) they would fill the server with inactive accounts. Newer guilds found that expanding their power was difficult and decided to move the lowest populated server in order to create an expanding WVW/PVE community. It started with a few up and coming guilds and resulted with an exodus of more powerful guilds seeking a more unified community (Hence the formation of the NEOAlliance). Some might have left for a domination fix, but that was never the fuel.(It was likely the logic that they could multiply their current status with that of another community).

The notion that the realm will fall in collapse once the speedy ascension hits a challenge is false.

Completely understandable. I promise, we’ll be along shortly…while I expect the fights to be incredible, I do also expect us to come out the winners. It’s simply an experience I believe the Server needs. Last thing I’d want is to get to T2 only to immediately get knocked right back down to T3 because we weren’t up to snuff. Would rather take the time needed in T3 to improve ourselves and make T2 a MUCH better fight.

I think that SBI vs YB vs CD is going to be one of the best match-ups and one of the most balanced tiers for a long time to come. To say you have better days ahead of you is a huge understatement imo.

Not only that, all three servers are very classy people, so there’s that to boot. I hope I’m not wrong.

I totally agree. But some will simply never accept the truth. I’m really not sure what they want. Some people will always complain, no matter the outcome. Many posting here will never accept anything anyone from Kaineng says, no mater how honest the intention. Haven’t you heard? We’re the Evil Empire apparently. All we do is lie and cheat and condescend and insult people. Oh and let’s not forget; Kaineng will self-destruct shortly and fall back down the tiers (gotta love those crystal ball guys we hear from…every tier match up)

All I really know atm is, there were a lot of awesome CD people actually fighting to get their Garrison back last night over a period of hours. It was an epic fight, and Kaineng did not have the advantage through most of it, we were just having fun fighting. Yet, still no respect.

Oh well.

Here’s hoping we can find some respect in a higher tier where we face similar numbers and coverage.

Perhaps, but I still think there are a hell of a lot of people whining about it. I’ve seen it in every match up thread since we left T8. As for single players getting run over by a group of 20, it happens to me all the time. I’ve yet to see a larger group of opponents encounter my lone Ranger without putting a spike through my head. It’s just part of the game. Doesn’t bother me, I port back, repair, and roll out again. I’m rarely disappointed in what I find out there.

What does disappoint me is the amount of flaming and trolling we have to put up with when we come to our match up thread to perhaps try and discuss the actual match up.

Faithleap and Sunnyhill in CDBL just now… holy schmoly, what a great time. Back and forth, siege everywhere (to include the supply camp)… LOL What a great time.

And if this is CD after it’s been stripped… very impressed. Awesome day.

You mention Maguuma not being able to match our own numbers. We are grossly out-numbered and handling it well. FA has noticeably better tactics with at least one of their guilds, and Dragonbrand is pretty much the same as when we last fought them; out-numbering us during oceanic. I’m not complaining about being out-numbered, but to put some numbers together I’d say 60 FA vs 30-40 of Maguuma in one part of the map, while FA still has a 20 man split between escorting dolyaks, taking camps, etc, while Maguuma was using 0-5 for that purpose at the time. Lots of culling, lots of stacking. BT guild on FA is the team we’re watching right now.

Maguuma was handed Tier 3 because last match the other 2 teams simply did not even log into WvW for more than an hour at a time. We belong in t4 with Kaineng and whoever else because we both have things to learn before we can function effectively in the top 3 tiers. Our commanders know this, but our pubbies don’t seem to know what’s the actual situation.

Ouch, I hope you guys are prepared for the beating you’ll possibly receive. From what I’ve heard, the battles are completely different. Those who could manage to steamroll T3 got so horribly steamrolled in T2 that it was frightening. Don’t be surprised if you get badly beaten in T2, but I’ll be rooting for you guys anyway (because I DO love to see good matches).

Isle of Janthir is a fairly dead server as far as the top tiers are concerned. I would bet that Maguuma basically steamrolled right over them and got all of their possessions nearly for free. This means they were left with a 1v1 against YB, and if they outnumbered them, well, the conclusion seems obvious. Here’s what happened back when SoS got a 1v1 against IoJ during HoD’s descent: Link. Now compare to the following week, with a competitive third server: Link. IoJ still lost, but by a ratio of less than 2:1, instead of nearly 5:1. I guess that means SoS was a doubly better SoS the previous week?

Our guild was on CD BL at the reset, along with TL and SoS (the guild, not the server), and we were constantly under fire from all sides. Yak’s went north once to grab Cragtop, and spent most of the rest of the time hitting us at Bluebriar. That’s fine, this is good strategy. The same good strategy was employed on KN BL, and on EB. So yeah, understandably it will take longer to overcome a larger net opposition…

Anyways, best of luck to our opponents in future weeks, and thanks for what fights you’ve brought. We had fun at least.

This is my second post in this forum and i have some suggestions for Kaineng. What you have now are numbers and coverage but your tactics and field combat are slightly on the weak side. I noticed how everytime CD is able to rally similar numbers, we would be able to wipe Kaineng’s zerg. I’ve no doubt that FA and DB who are able to match your numbers have superior tactics and field combat. Maguuma who I’ve never had the pleasure to fight against is a prime example looking at the current score in T3. Both Maguuma and Kaineng received transfers but lack the experience of facing servers who are able to match your numbers and coverage. It is something that will come with time.

I understand we are currently low in numbers and this will probably be the last time we face each other in the same tier for awhile but as time goes by, CD will be able to make a comeback because i see many determined people who has decided to stay and fight. It is a fighting spirit that is indomitable. To everyone that has left CD, I sincerely hope you will find what you are looking for in the respective servers you have gone to. Everyone except Jarc ….. n ….. t of [RISE] because you are the most gutless, arrogant imbecile I’ve had the displeasure of seeing in-game. I have no doubt that you will soon be seen for who you are by the Kaineng community just like you are hated by the majority of the CD community. I’m pretty sure nobody in CD misses you and are willing to see you back. Multiple rewards have been offered to take screenshots of your corpse. The next person to kill you is certainly going to be rich.

To Yak’s Bend, I hope you guys can take inspiration in how we are not giving up despite the huge numerical disadvantage and fight to reclaim your borderland. It serves no purpose for us at CD or you to send zergs into each other’s borderlands except aiding Kaineng who frankly does not need the help. It really doesn’t matter who ends up 2nd or 3rd. What is important is we keep fighting and never give up. Score is no longer relevant because Kaineng is undoubtedly the stronger server. Sorry we don’t have much chance to face each other in this match up because we are putting all our efforts in reclaiming our borderland.

Lastly I would like to make an appeal to everyone in CD to try out WvW if you have never tried it before. I welcome anyone willing to transfer in but more than anything, i would like to try a different approach. CD always have had a strong PVE population and i would like to invite them to give WvW a try. Our server will be so much stronger if we are able to have more people from our current population participating. I understand we are currently losing but with your help, we will be able to turn things around much quicker.

I will note that WvW participation in GW2 overall is a very small number.

The announcement of free transfers ending and the fiasco that ensued afterwards turned many people away from WvW. The community shrank so much more because the casual player has no incentive anymore to participate.

Even I, the guy that gained 40 of my 80 levels in WvW within the first two weeks of the game being out, find myself lacking the drive to go into WvW.

This is the second time CD has gone through the exodus with people having no server loyalty whatsoever. I’ll still show up, but I won’t be turning my tag on, not until everything stabilizes.

P.S. it was funny seeing a 30 man zerg in KBL going behind 2 players (myself and an elemental) taking back camps. Sad, but still funny.

That’s the risk of ninja-ing. You guys had at least 40 guys on for most of yesterday on CD BL. If you got caught 2 vs 30, it probably means you “choose” not to join your zerg and instead went ninja-ing. You can get caught ninja-ing by a zerg in any server. ^^

I wouldn’t have called yesterday’s fight epic if you guys didn’t have that many people.

I disagree. Running around with 30+ in an organized group will always be effective in this game due to how fast the map can be traversed. The only way for them to fix this is to redo the maps which isn’t going to happen.

I’m not sure if your aware, but the culling change makes it difficult to see your allies if you roll in a giant zergball.

It makes it far easier to see your enemy though.

I always enjoy the Maguuma folks’ posts; humble and honest. This sums up the Mag and Kain situations well. We have alot to learn yet, and it’s going to take a bloody nose or two to teach the lesson. I really hope we get the chance to learn from Mag and DB before we hop to T2…

The December trial was a total failure all the way around. I’m hoping the other changes they are making will help. We will have to wait and see. If the affinity culling is as bad as it was in December A LOT of people are going to quit the game.

I’m guessing that they aren’t that stupid. But, you never know.

Will like to commend the Kain party at Titans Paw for past few days, you guys are very impressive! Contrary to popular opinions of Kain being a bunch of mindless zergs, I’ve personally witnessed how well co-ordinated a 8-10+ group can be – from pausing for group buffing, pincer attacks, …., it’s a joy (& pain to my repair bill) to watch you folks in action. Will love to fight you guys again

If you and your buddy enter wvw and run into 20 people it’s a zerg right? I see a lot of complaining about 2v20 or whatever.

It’s the way things work. People aren’t going to spread out in groups of 1 to 5 people all over the map. They’re going to gravitate towards each other and work together. I could care less if you call that a zerg. Calling a server a “zerg server” is sort of a compliment to them even if you don’t mean it that way. It means that server has the dedication to continually field a large number of players. It means those players are interested in helping the server achieve victory and advancement.

Instead of complaining about it, get your server more involved in wvw. if you have 40 people online in one guild and you can get 25 of them into wvw you can now take on that zerg of 20. If you can get 2 to 4 guilds more involved in wvw, you can make a good impact.

Quit complaining about it because you want to go around with a small amount of people and think it’s not fair that you’re running into large groups working together.

If you can’t field decent numbers, instead of complaining about zergs, don’t go in wvw. Or better yet get people involved. Train people on group tactics. Make parties that synergy with each other well (a good combo of healing/buffs, finishers, confusion/stealth, whatever). There’s tons of thieves around. Get a group of 3 or 4 thieves to start flipping camps while you apply other tactics elsewhere with larger numbers.

A zerg can only be in one place at one time. It takes time to move that many people to an objective. So work on other tactics like getting orange swords up at a tower or two while you ninja a keep.

If you can field numbers you can do stuff like this. If you can’t get 20+ people to coordinate together, you’re S.O.L.

If you’re being spawn camped, there are 3 routes out of server borderlands – you don’t have to go head on into them.

Wow, Come on people, stop acting like you dont have a #‘s advantage. im on YB and im not complaining about the fact you have obvious # advantage, but dont turn around and act like its anything else. Maguuma is in the same boat, they went up to where their #’s belong and they are now in 3rd place. So right now, youre steamrolling due to #’s, accept that. Move up a tier and then see how things work out.

I fought a bunch of WM in YBBL tonight. I really expected more. Maguuma guilds were alot more organized and ruthless IMO. Not that they are bad or anything, but it wasnt much of a resistance.

Maguuma is in the same boat, they went up to where their #’s belong and they are now in 3rd place. So right now, youre steamrolling due to #’s, accept that. Move up a tier and then see how things work out.

I wonder how much of us losing as bad as we are right now is due to the large list of guild transferring off last week, or whether it’s because we are up against Kaineng. My friends and I love WvW, and if this is how Crystal Desert is going to be performing from now on, then we might get the hell out of here too before paid transfers come up.

Here is my take. CD and YB at NA prime time is actually very formidable. Yesterday we at Kaineng had a very hard time gaining ground. We only got a slight edge over you guys. I think the score was like 350 to 250 or something.

And then midnight comes.

You guys in CD and YB do not have enough coverage at night. In other words your night crew is very small. So while you went to sleep, both of your towers and keeps got overrun.

So morning hits. Players from CD and YB logs in. They saw that we in Kaineng has taken over everything. Many got discouraged and they left. As a result your zerg got even smaller.

So its a combination of lack of coverage and players getting discouraged that is hurting you guys this week.

As for whatever your guild should leave or not, you guys have to ask yourselves what’s your goal. If you goal is to have fun, and you are perfectly happy in any tier, then you should stay. However if your goal is to win, play with the best and fight against the best, then you should move to a different server.

This has happened alot. we played vs CD when they were sheer #’s and oceanic groups. Waking up to a fully colored BL by 1 team is pretty discouraging, id say were used to it by now. Best fight weve had is EB, old maguuma and us. that match was close and fought all through the week

I tire of reading “zerg this zerg that”. Guess what, EVERY server is a zerg server!

Any server that gets the numbers into wvw will form zergs, don’t kid yourself!

If you and your buddy enter wvw and run into 20 people it’s a zerg right? I see a lot of complaining about 2v20 or whatever.

It’s the way things work. People aren’t going to spread out in groups of 1 to 5 people all over the map. They’re going to gravitate towards each other and work together. I could care less if you call that a zerg. Calling a server a “zerg server” is sort of a compliment to them even if you don’t mean it that way. It means that server has the dedication to continually field a large number of players. It means those players are interested in helping the server achieve victory and advancement.

Instead of complaining about it, get your server more involved in wvw. if you have 40 people online in one guild and you can get 25 of them into wvw you can now take on that zerg of 20. If you can get 2 to 4 guilds more involved in wvw, you can make a good impact.

Quit complaining about it because you want to go around with a small amount of people and think it’s not fair that you’re running into large groups working together.

If you can’t field decent numbers, instead of complaining about zergs, don’t go in wvw. Or better yet get people involved. Train people on group tactics. Make parties that synergy with each other well (a good combo of healing/buffs, finishers, confusion/stealth, whatever). There’s tons of thieves around. Get a group of 3 or 4 thieves to start flipping camps while you apply other tactics elsewhere with larger numbers.

Once more, CD has experienced it worse exodus of guids since the launch of the games.
We have lost the following guild LW, KH, LaZy, RISE,, GoF, KO, TG (NA side) and Val, Edmw (Oceanic side) to xfer as such WvW coverage has been significantly reduce allowing Kaineng to turn most of the WvW map blue. It is demoralising in a way, but EsF will still continue to field our numbers during formal wvw days.

To all our fellow ex comrade in arms, I salute you for without you guys wvw would not have been successful in all our past tier matchup. To all servers who have recruit them you have definitely an advantage.

So in the spirit of wvw, We EsF will continue to fight on. Win or loss let have fun in wvw

Meh, not much to do now, except try train our troop to improve since I think not many will transfer here if their sole purpose is wvw. But in PVE, it isn’t affected one bit. Way to many people roaming around killing those things.

CD will have to go some more tiers, and eventually it will stabilize.

I’m not sure you get your WvW/guild bonuses from your home server when you guest.

Phew, looks like FA is pulling away and will (hopefully) take the T2 spot. Apparently, we’re going to copycat Maguuma and hop to green in T3 – which means we’re most likely going to leech a bunch of glicko points and stay there for a bit. Finally, some stability… :-)

Thanks for staying EsF, know that you’re not alone. I look forward to CD stabilizing and coming together after transfer become paid. We’re a good server with a good community which is especially shown right now by those who are staying despite these ‘dark’ times.

FWIW, you don’t get the WvW buffs when guesting. It’s a minor point but it may matter to some people. * shrug *
