Loot bags, loot bags everywhere!
Yes, huge thanks to Anet on this one! In a little under 2 hours, I had gotten over 2 gold in profit and 90 badges of honor.
To give an example, look at the attached image.

As an engineer if I use healing bombs for my team, I use elixir gun cleanses and healing, I use knockbacks and cripples, and all that sort of things, I hardly get bags to be honest.
If I mindlessly spam grenades, I can’t pick them up fast enough…
The difference in drops is humoungous, while I’m hardly helping my team with grenades in mobile fights. But man, do I tag everything in sight!
The change in drops in itself is a cool thing of course.
But how this game canbe so blind to anything else but doing direct damage and zerging is beyond me.

Given the previous comment that someone was making 1g per hour plus tokens under the new wvw system that 1g/hr does not even come close to 3g/hr that i hear dungeon runners are making.
The only reason there is a thread about this is that WvW players are used to getting close to nothing – so any kind of reward buff is mind blowing.
This is definitely a step in the right direction – precursor drop every 10,000 kills is a logical next step to fixing the precursor supply issue and rewarding committed players
Huge step in the right direction. Now if we can get something that would reward healers/buffers for supporting players that kill other players then that would seal the deal. Lack of appreciation for support classes is a chronic issue in most MMO’s but Anet thus far has fixed quite a few common issues. I look forward to the next patch.

The thing is: it’s a step in the right direction for those WvW’ers who already got the most loot!
Being the best (aoe) damage dealers in big groups.
Those who were playing support already hardly get more loot.
Why?
Because they still don’t tag anything more than they did before…
They end up with more, but not even in the same proportion as the increase the damage dealers get.
Every wvw raid guild asks (or forces) support speccs and professions, while oddly enough the game gives the most loot to those who focus on (aoe) damage the most.
And every raiding guild knows those damage dealers wouldn’t survive a head on collision with another guild… if it wasn’t for the supportive roles (heals, boons, cleanses, cc…).
Just like the game rewards zerging karma training waaaaay more than doing constructive stuff like supplies, repairs, dolyaks, scouting, etc…
The players seem to know what is important.
But Anet designed their game contrary to that knowledge and rewards the selfish damage parts most.
Both in wvw and spvp by the way (compare attacking points to defending points)
It’ll nice to be able to buy siege with bags instead of throwing money out the window.

Nice to finally get more stuff, but it kind of stinks for the people who have been at WvW from release who have saved up badges with nothing really good to buy. If they then go and set future rewards up against the faster badge acquisition rate, those people kind of get jipped.

ANet should allow us to buy upgrades – like double supply, extra guards, reinf. walls, etc – with badges, 1 badge = 1s.
Haven’t had a chance to test this out yet. But, maybe this will encourage more participation in WvW. There are still a lot of folks that haven’t been playing (or even tried it) it just because there were no rewards and, in some cases, you could lose money by participating.

Does anyone know if they made some changes to improve loot for support?
Like what Colin Johansen was referring to one or two weeks ago?
Nothing in any notes reflects this, but maybe it is changed in game in some way.
Hard to tell since all get more loot, so the real question is: do we get more loot as support in comparison to the pure damage.? Or do both simply see the same general increase?
The goal should be that support sees a bigger increase in loot than the damage dealers do.

I haven’t played in WvW extensively since the patch, but I can’t even fathom a situation where the loot drops would increase in WvW to the point where it would be unreasonable. So I’m glad to hear the “economist” said it was okay. In my mind you could increase loot drops by 400% (pre-patch) and would still not even come close to dungeon-runners/PvE’ers.
You still make less than a quarter the net gold per hour than other places in the game. More loot bags is nice, but better rewards are still a must. Let’s not forget that WvW is a massive gold sink (I spent 20g on siege plans and upgrades last night alone), and the rewards you get back scarcely touch the surface of what is necessary to sustain the war effort.

As a WvW player, who is poor due to not going to PvE, I was enjoying the massive loots in WvW last night.
I don’t mind the repair fee now that I get lots of loots to pay my repair fee ^-^

More realistically – if you tried to simply grind a legendary in wvw – it would easily take you a year. Not to mention of the course the quick dungeon grind and world exploration + buying obsidian shards.

I love the loot increase, I just hate how it’s dropped. PvP is too intense to be searching the ground for loot from someone i just killed. I really think the loot bags should automatically be stacked in your inv, and you can open them when you feel fit.

That annoys me as well. I always have to interrupt fights to pick up the bags. Nobody knows whats its expiring time, or I just die and lose that bags.

Posting this here, because even with a loot adjustment it is still pretty kitten true:
Full time WvW players are like pack of hungry animals, if Anet didn’t starve us to near-death, ignore us completely for months on end like a neglected puppy in a cardboard box full of barbwire and hand out the beating to the side of said box with a big bat… just to annoy us a bit more.
We’d actually be happy
We’d be happy and not have to kill every single living thing we come across
We wouldn’t have to break everyone’s stuff just for 1s45c a hit
We’d not have the necessary level of sheer hatred to murder 1000’s of people in the space of a few hours BECAUSE THEY TOUCH OUR STUFF.That level of desperation, hatred and an unhealthy dose of antisocial personality disorder, is what makes a wvw player.
It is super nice that this isn’t a bug. We’re still pretty straved here. I play WvW for hours upon hours and my reward is losing money. lol. I could only imagine my mind if WvW actually gave me something. :x
You know, like those PvE folks and their tens of gold. SO RICH.
