Birthday Present Issues [merged]
“Each gift is given on the first birthday of the character, not the account.”
I am afraid that is stupid.
I have head start, beta and pre order bla bla bla and because I decided to delete a character after the first 28 days and re-roll it I now have to wait said 28 days. UGH!!
Should be account biased. I am playing the game not the avatar behind the screen.
Your playing an MMORPG, emphasis on the RPG. You are playing the character on the screen, your just allowed to have options when picking which one to play.

I have 467 hours on my toons but I don’t have any of the original ones I created when I first started playing GW2. Does this mean I won’t qualify for the the birthday gift?
Got mine. Thanks, Anet.

How many days have you played under /age ? Apparently you have to look under a specific toon.
(ex) my account is 368 days across all characters and only 337 days on my “main” I don’t have 1 year gift i am guessing i will have to wait a month to get the 1st one.

I here you and have excepted it. Just every other MMO allows for the actual account time to matter. But we all know GW is cut from a different mold. I am sorta over it. :- )

IIRC, birthday gifts in GW1 were also by character.
I’m also on another MMO that awards you a medal for each year of play per character, not per account. Some of my characters have 8-year medals, and some only have two. On the same account. I don’t think it’s as uncommon as you believe.
Do you have a character created at launch, or did you at some point delete your first character and make a new one at a later date? The gifts are by character age, not account.
To verify the character’s age, type /age in the chat window and you’ll get exact specs on the character.
Note: This is not account age, this is character age, for the gift is given to your character, in true role-playing fashion.

Thank you for the quick fix on this.
———————As for the characters that got or did not get a second gift:
When I was young there were two different ways kids in the family looked at presents at birthdays and Christmas. One way was to open your gift and focus on what you received. For the most part, kids who did this were happy because it would be something they’d asked for and wanted. (sure, there was the occasional pair of socks, but them’s the breaks
)
The other way was to open your gift and then start comparing it to what the other kids got. Were the others more expensive? Did you get one item and Bobby got two? (good thing we did not have the internet to instantly check which gift was rated higher on Amazon) For the most part, kids who did this were upset in some way and enjoyed their own presents less.
I prefer the first way.
I appreciate the wisdom that you have imparted. Much the same idea came to my mind, as well.

Yeah i totally did. About 28 days into it i deleted and re rolled cause I did not like the look of what I rolled. (role played :-p)
I understand the role playing answer, however I could have created a character on day one and not touch it. Then create another the same day. Only to come back 364 days later to get a one year gift on both. I am having a hard time seeing how that is role playing on the first one. Then again I don’t role play (except when I don’t like the way it looks) so there you have it.

Perhaps not. All the MMO’s I am involved with do by account. If I knew this was gonna happen i would have keep the toons I created. Now I know and will consider that for future anniversaries.
what about those that transfered servers that got birthdays changed. My birthday was 2 days ago, but the celebration wont hapoen for 3 more months.
With the exception of one character I deleted, alot of these characters I have were within the first month, yet, it shows all of them about the time I transfered servers. So I found the fountain of youth by 3 months.

Changing game worlds does not reset your character’s age.

it does if you used the delete and reroll method of server change….
My birthday gift “mini” arrived in the mail but seems to have disappeared. Is this a bug or is it possible that I could have destroyed it unintentionally?

Did you deposit collectibles? If you did, mini pets are considered collectible and it will be in your bank under the section for minis.

This is frustrating to me, I came back to Guild Wars because of the email advertising the new “clockwork” stuff… and being away I decided to “reroll” and deleted my old toons…
Spent about $40 on gems to buy some new stuff… then I see this thread…
So I guess in “true role-playing fashion” I won’t spent anymore money on your game either, I am going to be role playing a grudge holder… I feel my account being a year old should be good enough personally.
So please forward this who it might concern, you lost a paying a customer…
I was wondering if there was a certain waiting period to get your birthday gift or if it is instant. If it is instant I have yet to receive mine as my friends are getting theirs. Thanks for any help
Type /age in chat to make sure your character is 365 days old. If it is, then make sure your mail is cleaned out. Having 10 or more mail will stop you from getting more. If that doesn’t work, you may need to contact support.
no present here either
The first ‘age’ showing is of that particular character, which is not quite 1 year old. The second line is your account ‘age’, and does not determine when or if a particular character will receive a birthday gift. It looks like the character shown should get a gift tomorrow. Happy birthday! =)
No Birthday bonus on my first char? Bug is back
