It’s giving me a message saying
“Card approval failed. Please check your card details and try again. IF the issue persists, please contact support”
I’ve entered the card credentials several times just to insure it wasn’t user error. IT is not letting me make purchases with my mastercard nor with a pre-paid Visa I just picked up from CVS. I’ve had no problems purchasing gems before so I’m not sure what the problem is.
Anybody else getting a whole lot of errors when trying to do paypal? It looks like its about to work, then quickly changes its mind and goes to the error screen. Shame, I want to give you my money anet :c

I recently bought 5 Black Lion Keys. The store deducted 450 gems from my account. However there were no items(keys) that were given to me there was nothing in the purchase history. To make sure it was not stuck somewhere, i bought another key and it was delivered right away.

I would very much like to be able to buy gems..
The limited personal account bank space, and lack of character slots is starting to limit my enjoyment and hinder me in collecting items within the game.
I have sent tickets twice now and been very patient, once to ArenaNet through this website and once directly to NCSofts account support and no sort of useful response is really starting to unnerve me.

I tried purchasing an additional character slot and the reading glasses from the gem store. The character slot I purchased from the recent purchases button. The glasses were from the style tab. The system deducted the gems from my account but I haven’t received either of the items, and the recent purchases list did not update either.

Shaolin, I have the same error.
It means that your purchase attempts are not being registered in their system because of an unidentified block. This is happening from at least China and Russia, and the problem seems to be from NCsoft’s side.
This is happening to a small number of players. Please open a ticket about this from “support.guildwars2.com” so that they have more reference points to work with.

I cannot get any of my 3 credit cards to get approved on my account.
Earlier today I was able to buy 4000 gems and wanted to buy another 4000 – it did not let me but let me purchase the gem bundles below it – i seem to of exhausted the amount i could buy from those too because i can no longer buy any gems whatsoever with any of my cards.
I talked to my banks and they claim my attempts are not being triggered to the bank and it is not going through ArenaNet to the bank in the first place..
I understand I have purchased many gems and you guys could of locked my account due to fraud alerts.. but I was getting my commander insiginia today.. and that is a lot of gems
I submitted a ticket incident 120924-005391 earlier today.
I wanted to see if anyone else was having an issue or if there is a small chance a GM sees this post and accelerates the process to allow me to purchase more gems.

I’m having the same issue as most people here. I’m getting “card approval failed” whenever I try to purchase gem. I’ve tried adding a new card but that didn’t work either. I’ve submitted a ticket 120925-001324, I hope Anet is looking into this because it seems like a lot of people are experiencing difficulties because of this.
When buying gems both through paypal and visa I get this error:

This happens within the actual gem store not before being linked off to a page. Haven’t ever purchased before if this is relevant.
Bought gems with gold. I then bought a Black lion salvage kit with those gems.
The gems disappeared, however, I did not receive my salvage kit nor is the transaction in my recent purchases.

Bought a Character Slot from store 2 days ago and I have not yet received it but I was already charged the 800 gems from my account. The Create button on the Select a Character screen shows disabled

I bought 250 gems via the currency exchange and received the gems. I then spent the 250 gems on 5 mystic forge stones. This was my first gem purchase. I saw the notification that gem purchases would be delivered by mail so that any character could pick up the purchase. However, that mail never came, and I never received the mystic forge stones despite having the 250 gems deducted.

On Sunday night after the servers crashed I logged back into the game. Decided since the store was working, just lagging a bit I would go ahead and buy my character slot expansions, which was what I was planning to do before the crash.
I had 2400 gems for the 3 and purchased 2 of the expansion slots and it deducted 800 for each (1600) total. Guild member said I should wait because of the crash but it was too late. I logged out of the game to check and make sure it had worked and I still had only 5 character slots. So I completely closed the game and opened back up and the result was the same. Both purchases don’t show up in recent purchases but the gems are gone as well as not in my inbox, which was empty as well when I made the purchase.
I can’t seem to puchase Gems. Both my credit card and paypal were declined. I called my bank and they coudln’t even see any attempted charges, so it wasn’t even processed. I tried other credit cards, and they were not working as well. My account seems to be the issue, as everything is good to go as far as my issueing banks are concerned. Also, the main guild wars 2 site is not taking my money when I tried to purchase the game for my girlfriend.

I was unable to try buying anything during the last “24 hour” reprieve you gave me and I am still unable to buy anything on your gem store via paypal or credit card. How can I resolve this permanently? Am I SOL for the foreseeable future? This is very frustrating, and frankly, your solution of 24 hour “greenlights” is perhaps the most ridiculous solution I’ve ever seen.
no company I have worked with has ever had an issue taking my money. This is absurd. When are you going to fix this?

I have a different problem, I can’t buy Gems with PayPal. Well, I CAN proceed to the PayPal website, however I can not buy Gems with the money I have on my PayPal account, it’s just asking for a credit card. I know people who can buy Gems using only their PayPal founds…why can’t I?

This is in reference to what many are going through right now with their Credit Cards and the purchase of gems.
My card is showing Approval Failed for the purchase of gems (a couple of days ago I was able to, now no dice).
The funds are in my account. I just used it to put in a full tank of gas.
ANet please resolve this, as I want to give you all the money I have saved since I quit smoking a month ago(average 70$ bucks a week on cigarettes lol)

Your latest purchase attempt was rejected immediately by your financial institution. You will need to speak to them to see what exactly is happening. Our systems are set to receive your purchase requests. There is nothing else we can do on our end since this is an issue with your bank.

Now the Banks response to this
NCSoft are trying to make A Pre-Pay as a …..Recurring Transaction/ similar to a Direct Debit
This is reason why flagging occurs as,,,You cannot …..have a Pre-pay credit card as A recurring transaction
I asked how to remedy this …as soon as Ncsoft make your card as….. A Single payment transaction your card will not be flagged.
This was the system I have used before for 5 years spending Hundreds of Pounds on alts ect.on Guild wars 1
So with all this technology and similar posts can the following not be adjusted
1. Have a Button on the BLT to click re pre-pay option then all you do is enter the card details again but, it will be classed as A single transaction ..not recurring
2. as most games have time cards whty not have Gem cards purchaseable in a game store, as there is a section called enter Code so this can also be utilised.
3, Yes I can use in game gold ect…but I feel actioned against because I am using a pre-paid Mastercard.
4, So either take away this recurring transaction part thats applied by ncsoft or add something so guys like myself can use the BLT

Check your Mail Box, if you have 9/10 items of Mail, you mail box may have bugged, delete the old mail and it should all come rushing though, had like 6 Gold Sellers mail me as well, All reported

Accidentally bought two lots of gems due to lag..
then have now twice tried to buy pirate outfit, thinking it had failed due to lag but should have two pirate outfits on the way to me….

Its my third ticket i have sended now..
I made a recent purchase of 1600 gems (£17.00gbp) i spent 600 gems on a primeval armor skin (for heavy armor) And didn’t receive the armor skin at all, Usually i would receive it through in game mail like usual right? anyways i went to check the black lion trader and still no items received.
The gem store window says that it was purchased (you know right side of window in recent purchases) It says i made the purchase, so its obviously you game not working as intended!
Please fix and give me the item i purchased using “real money” Or i might be tempted to think about bringing my purchases elsewhere.
Shortly after release, I bought lots of gems and went ahead to get 3 extra character slots (8 total for 8 professions) but it ended up buying more than I needed and now I have 12 character slots, 4 of which were unintended and useless. Can you please delete those extra character slots and refund me my gems. I have no use for those slots so its very frustrating.

After creating a ticket on the “Credit Card Approval” failure, I received the answer that the credit card was not issued form the country I live in. So I cannot use my credit card, period! Too bad.

Same as many others here, but I actually made 3 successful gem purchases which have long since cleared my credit card (and been paid off), so I know the card is or at least was capable of being used in the gem store. Ever since those 3 gem purchases all I get is “Credit Card Card approval failed” … you guys are making it hard to give you more money.
