I had a Ring of Red Death(infused) and a pre-infused Ring of Red Death.
I just infused the pre-infused one, so now i have two Ring of Red Death( infused) and i cannot equip them both. Why didn’t the game mention this? And why would it allow a combination of pre-infused with infused, but not both infused?

That is what the “Unique” means. You can use the infused and uninfused at the same time because they are considered different items(different item_id).

The game does not give you a warning (ok/cancel) before you try to buy/wear a ring of the same type, nor does it tell you about in the item description. You have to spend time and energy to find out about this. Time that could be spend having fun.

The same goes for a lot of other stuff. Fx boosters/bonfire (cancel each other), food (cancel each other), etc and so on. They don’t care about quality, consistency nor giving proper support.

This issue has been a problem for many players before and most of them (when not all) who have contacted support have been refunded. (I will look for a few links for you that are about the same issue.)

Two unique rings issue is one of those cases they usually compensate the user with a different ring (same stats, different infusion slot, so he/she can equip both), proving they DO have the tools to work things out but they avoid doing it because it’s a lot of effort with no economic profit for them.

I have contacted support, and they do not have the tools, according to them, to restore items lost due to bugs. I have lost items due to bugs, and support does not restore them, even when contacted several times, where you elaborate to make sure they understand what has happened.

No, it doesn’t prove anything. Where is your proof?

I have heard that some players have had gem purchases that went wrong/bugged fixed. Are you claiming that gw2 support lies to me? And denies me the service, that they provide to other players?

You are wrong again. When support does not restore lost items (lost due to bugs), it causes loyal customers to stop recommending their product/company, and this results in a financial loss. The amount of bugs and lag of support is the reason I will NEVER buy a single gem, which again is a financial loss.

Players have been refunded with another ascended ring due to this particular problem. (You might read the provided threads or not)

However there is no official statement from support on the forums where they stated that they have done so.

And of course I am very sorry to hear that you have encountered an issue and support has not been supportive. I don’t like that they tell there is no way of helping because in my opinion it should be standard. Especially if someone lost items because of a bug etc.

No, mister. You’re stating they won’t help you because they haven’t got the tools. As a matter of fact, we know they DO have the tools because they DO help in this particular cases of ascended unique rings. You’re telling him/her not to contact support because they will lose his/her time, when actually he/she may be compensated with a different infusion slot ring of the same stats.

So the gw2 support actually helps some players, and not others. And they lie when they say they can’t help.

I checked some of the threads, and if you read the posts, you will see that some players are denied help. Here is one:

It seems strange to me that they help players that have ‘pressed the wrong button’ and not players that have actually lost items (vanish into thin air) due to bugs. See fx:

If you saw the mail correspondence I have had with gw2 support, you wouldn’t believe it.

That’s why I wrote it might be that (s)he will be refunded. There is no guarantee. (I am not sure why in this particular case some get refunded and some not. Maybe it’s the agent that doesn’t know that they do refund these things or the player did not explain very well what happened.. we’ll never know.^^)

And I am really sorry for all other cases where support is not worth calling support.
Refunds should be standard. Loss due to bugs should be compensated ASAP.
There should be also a compensation for mistakes (doesn’t matter if the game causes the mistake or the player).
A loss that includes losing real cash should always have high priority (if I remember right they do find solutions for these issues?).

But it isn’t. :-(

I don’t see why…you could have bought them to have different infusions in them. Anyway, when there’s a mention of uniqueness on an item, why buy 2 ?

You can NOT equip 2 rings with different infusions. They are the same ‘unique’ ring, just a different upgrade applied to each of them.

You CAN equip an uninfused ring and an infused ring. These are both unique items and different from each other.

Infused rings are quite different from placing an infusion in the infusion slot. They have an inherent +5 AR on top of whatever is in the infusion slot.

This is a silly issue that ANet assumes everyone knows what ‘unique’ really means. Unless you have played other MMOs, there is nothing to lead one to believe you can not equip more than one of these things.

But it goes beyond that. For those of you as ancient (25+) as me, recall the days when all you played, day in and day out, was Diablo 2. Remember the items that were categorized as Unique? You could equip several of those, it was just a case of the drop rate being very low.

So what we’ve really got here is a soup of confusion between people who’ve seen terms like “unique-equipped” and “soulbound” from other MMOs and correctly apply it to this game, old-school gamers who think of “unique” as “oh, this one is really rare, I should get as many of them as I can”, and the people new to both interpretations who probably do not even realize that one single word in a tooltip can mean you’ve just wasted a ton of time and resources if you decide to double click.

IMO, ANet should add one of their fabulous hints at the very least. First time you obtain an item with the “Unique” tab, have a popup show up saying “Hey, you’ve got a unique item! Be aware that you can’t equip two of them at the same time!”
