Giving people free points seems bad, but im sure they could think of cool new things they could add to the HOM in return

Well lets hope its getting back soon my new ranger would love to have her black widow spider and my other account that is also tied with a gw1 account would love to have her skins and so on too keeping fingers crossed it will be soon

I just my GW1 & Gw2 accounts linked up.I have 42/50 achiemements in the HOM so I was expecting all my goodies. I go to my Hall of Momuments and it is BARE!! No black widow spider, no black moa, no white raven, no rainbow jellyfish and I get an error from the merchant saying “unavailble at this time.” I have contacted GuildWars2 support for the past several days about this issue. Their solution…….It’s a “develpment problem” and post it to the forum…..so here I am. How hard is it for me to get all my goodies so I can enjoy my achievments from GW1?

It’s disabled because of a bug that happened a few months ago. The bug allowed non-GW1 players to get instant GWAMM titles and achievement points. They quickly shut down the hall to keep people from getting the items, and it’s been closed since then while they’ve been developing a fix to deal with that bug.

Does anybody know when the next patch will be released? Hopefully this will be fixed by then!

Any expections on when this bug will be fixed? Why are those of us who worked sssooo hard to get all those goodies in the HOM are getting robbed by a “development glitch?” Is the development of Heart of Thorns so important that the Veteran players of GW1 are being punished?

I’ll be finishing my 10 HoM points tonight and would love to get my FDS, but the Eye of the North rewards are temporarily shut down, and have been for a while.

Would it be a bad idea to submit a ticket asking to have an item skin unlocked (assuming you have the right amount of HoM points)? Has anyone tried this? Or would this be a misuse of customer support?

It would be pointless to submit a ticket. Support is very busy and I seriously doubt they are going to take the time to make exceptions for people on an individual basis to unlock HoM skins. They may not even have to tools to do so even if they wanted to. You will just have to wait for it to be fixed like everyone else.

Yeah, please don’t bog down support with that. I know how you feel; I’m waiting for it to be fixed so I can get my black widow pet and my fire god glove skin. Just gotta be patient.

Yes, yes it is. Rather than causing more problems when removing content from players’ accounts, they are making sure nothing untoward will happen when administering the fix.

Yeah, I just hope it’s not gonna be another thing that they’re putting off until the HoT release.

They said it was a very complex fix and they’re apparently testing the solution to it right now. I don’t suspect we’ll have that long to wait.

I just wanted to bring it to the attention of the developers there is currently a BIG BUG which allows people to get 39 HoM near instantly. I dont want to give specifics in case people try and abuse it, but will be happy to provide more info if contacted. Being a long time guild wars player I found this upsetting and hope to see anet roll back peoples accounts.

The problem now is…people like me who earned GW1 achievements and worked hard for them, can’t get them. Apparently its been shut down altogether. My ranger would like her pets also, skins and weapons.

We’re all in the same boat. Those of us who played gw1- linked it to our gw2 accounts.
Supposedly next release we’ll get something.

No one is “getting punished” or has been “robbed.” There was a bug; it’s been fixed and now they are testing the script to arrange it so everyone gets the rewards to which they are entitled (and not any others).

Given the relatively high profile of the bug and the fact it hurts people coming from GW1 the most, I do wish someone would be assigned to keep us updated. (I don’t think it’s part of Lauren’s day job; I think she’s been helping out the communication team, which is probably swamped by the HoT hype train.)

some people here talks about compensation from Anet for not having HoM for such a long time, so maybe Anet can provide more skins to us when it will be realised like from 30 to 40 HoM points or even up to 50

What i’d love to see is the actual things that you achieved in gw1 like mini’s and armor standing in gw2 HoM just like in gw1 (wouldn’t even care if they use the gw1 models for this). But i guess that’s too much asked.

I have heard in game that the HOM will be “broken” untill the launch of Heart of Thorns. Is this true?

Why, its already fixed! They disabled it so they can focus on more important matters than bug fix. This way people who abused the Hall when it was broken dont need to worry fix will erase anything from their account, and developers can focus on Heart of Thorns so we can all buy it!

Heh..45/50 here, been playing gw2 since 3 months. Totally understand your anger..my advice, forget about these skins. Gw2 is pretty fun game, but fix for HoM clearly has lowest possible priority..its been like 7 months its been disabled. Last update from devs is 12 days ago from Lauren on Instant “God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals” thread, in case you want to read it.

I just want my black widow spider back. :-( Slaved over a year to get GWAMM, had my GW2 account hacked, took 2 weeks to expain to support about the hack and to remerge my GW1 to my new account, and THIS happens…….Very NOT cool.

Seems a bit unfair to all the Veteran players that this has been down for 7 months, and no one at ANET has gotten around to putting it back in the game. I did play the Beta this weekend of Heart of Thorns……meh, not really impressed thus far with HOT.

I could care less about the skins but I just would like the pets put back in the HOM (black widow, black moa, white raven, rainbow jellyfish.)

No release date yet, but it looks REALLY promising right now. Not for next release though, I don’t want to get your hopes up and dash them on tuesday.

FWIW the programmer doing the fix is extremely meticulous and wants this to be 10000% right when it goes out. It is not an easy fix and it has been being worked on since it broke.

If we can all be patient just a little bit longer then we will have more Gods Walking Amongs Mere Morals in the future… but sadly one of them won’t be me.

It’s been three months, not seven. And it’s being worked on right now. We don’t know when it’ll go in, but there’s no reason to assume they’re not going to put it in until HoT launch.

March 17, to July 14. Yea, about 4 months. Sorry, i stopped counting a while ago. Its still a kitten long time and they are still postponing it every time they make update while making new weapon skins, beta tests and even trait + lions arch overhaul. Its a bug fix, and bug fixes should have priority right?

And fix on HoT launch is just a rumor, not official statement. Official statement is soon.

I’m annoyed.
Not because it’s disabled, although I am rather disgruntled by that.
Not because it’s taken far too long to fix it, although that has not helped with my disgruntling.
But because there was no warning when I warped into my HoM.
I’ve just spent the last week getting a few extra points (in GW1) to unlock some extra skins and at no point was there any warning about how this was a colossal waste of my time, for the foreseeable future.

Why didn’t the Portal Stone warn me? Why didn’t the GW (1&2) client warn me?
Why didn’t the HoM calculator warn me?!
Why have I wasted time on something I cannot access?
Why has there been very little communication about it? (I think a grand total of 5/6 messages? Please correct me if I’m wrong).

Anet, I can 100% promise you right now that communication and transparency is absolute paramount when dealing with customers.
We can be patient if we know what we’re being patient for, and messages like “We’re really close guys!”, does not help!

I think a blanket wide “Here, have 50 points” is a bad idea, but I think there still should be some compensation, perhaps something along the lines of: Pick any 5 skins/titles from the reward track for free?

I don’t really think there should be any “compensation” because we’re waiting so long for this fix.
Some of the suggestions for compensation are ridiculous & unfair to those of us who actually had to grind to get to the point we are at in the HoM.
Maybe because my sense of entitlement works differently.
There are alot of things in life you don’t get compensated for just because you “waited a long time/ tired of waiting.” Alot of us are tired of waiting. You’ll be compensated for sure, once this is fixed we’ll all be able to access our HoM rewards. That’s the compensation.

Also, They never agreed to a time in which this will be fixed, so you don’t need to be compensated.

so, this “eventually”….really doesn’t help much.

Honestly, 4 months should have been more than adquate time to fix this “bug” & it should have been fixed & launched before all the HOT hype started, in my opinion, of course.

I do agree that there should be a new title created to seperate the true GWAMMs from the “wanna-be”s

I really wish they update us on their progress soon! They have been telling us that they are close for so long now, and now that the last update has passed, they really should tell us whether to expect this fix in time for the next patch or even for HoT.

This. I feel like HoT is taking way too much of Anets resources based on how they talk about it. They’re forgetting more and more about the current game, SW is bugged, class mechanics still need work (I know they said they’ll be working on this), WvW/EotM is veeery bugged. We can wait for HoT if it means we can have a better experience while we wait.

You can still link them, you do get the titles but I’m unsure about the AP. My sister recently bought prophecies & the eye of the north expansion & was given a title she earned & the HoM portal stone & when she created a new character, she just can’t get the rewards like many of us who have HoM.

Fix the bugs & launch the fixed bugs in this game before you make an expansion which will add more bugs to the already exisits.

This only makes sence to do this and I am sure other gamers like me would not mind the wait for HOT if bugs in THIS game for fixed and launched.

We are not waiting for a bug fix, we are waiting for the solution to remove the rewards from people who earned them during the period when the bug was live.
The two things are quite different. Fixing the bug was probably simple, while devising a plan to remove titles, achievement points, HoM rewards from people who have gotten it because of the bug but not from people who have gotten them properly is definitely more difficult.
They cannot make mistakes there, imagine the uproar if they remove these from someone who has actually earned the rewards.

Very true, 4 months though. 4. Months. Probably could’ve gone through everyones accounts based purely on who logged in during the bugged time frame and repaired it manually in 4 months (I don’t recommend that btw, bad idea).

With the exception of the headgear, my norn ranger main rolls in Heritage armour. It’s by far one of my favourite medium sets in this game. My charr mesmer uses abyss-dyed light Heritage. The fact that these can be applied for 0 transmutation charges means that i often use bits and pieces on new alts too.

And though i had that low-point stuff already unlocked for a while, well, i happen to be one of the mythical players you don’t seem to believe in, having gone back to GW1 to get through to 30 only recently. I even commented the adventure afterwards:

Firstly, some of the things being locked out are pets which can’t go in the wardrobe.
Secondly, some people haven’t been around for the months wardrobe existed. Perhaps they were waiting on new content, or are trying out the balance of the new patch.
Thirdly, some players have gone back to GW1 to unlock additional heritage options or titles.
Lastly, unless a player was using a specific skin from the HoM they likely didn’t bother to go get the skin. For example, I never used swords on any characters so going to get the skin never made much sense. You can call it laziness, but there just didn’t seem to be a point.

I count myself as one of the players inconvenienced by this, since the sword skin I now wish to use is hidden away pending this fix. I’m just holding hope ANet can get it done soon!

That’s because they’re rare skins, some of the most prestigious in the game. I honestly feel that they’re worth more than legendaries to some extent, because you can’t just buy them with time and money. Some of the stuff you have to do in GW1 for these skins is INTENSE, especially considering the current player base of GW1, anyone attempting to get HoM points for the skins nowadays (which has been me for the past 7 months or so, on and off) has to solo the content with AI driven parties. The later missions can take hoooours just restarting and restarting and restarting getting to the end each time only to find that your AI group has another weakness you overlooked. It’s honestly one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had, but it made getting my Incinerator feel easy (well not easy, but less difficuly).

I guess the title of the post says it all, I did a lot of work in GW1 to get those items unlocked. Is there anyway I can get them unlocked and moved into my storage from a support employee? I sure would like to use some of them.

I feel your pain. 42/50 in the HOM and I still cant use my Black Widow. I guess ANET thinks HOT expansion is more important. I am glad I am not the only one upset by this injustice to all the GW1 Vets. lol…don’t even call support about this either….I tried that and all they said was “it’s a develpment issue” and to “find out more in the forums.”

I think it can be said like it’s like a broken dam: it blew and flooded around but the leak was fixed, however the damage caused by it still needs to be dealt and may take a longer time than fixing the leaking took.

As was said before, they can’t do mistakes in this case, it would get even worse if they mess with who had nothing to do with the issue. The thing is it seems they have only one person on this and whoever is doing that is being very thorough (a good thing though) and as a programmer myself I can imagine what such a task it must be. I understand the frustration and know that 4 months is pretty long, but it could be even worse if they rushed with it or made a poorly job.

They were able to fix the bug that allowed the GWAMM to be given to non gw1 players within a few hours. It’s taking the titles & AP that were given to those same players that is the hard part. Also, just imagine you played gw1; got all 50 HoM points then HoM is reopened but alas, you have no credibility to it. You cannot access it at all because you were accidentally considered one of those people who were unfortunately bugged & given the AP & titles. That is also what the Anet person working on this is trying to keep from happening once the fix goes live.

Granted, I am not a computer programmer, but I do work in customer service. One cannot argue the fact that this problem isn’t going to go away on it’s own, no matter how much “Heart of Thorns hype” they stick everywhere. The HOM is a key part in linking the lore of GW1 to GW2 and ALOT of people like me worked hard to get all those goodies and now can’t get them because a develper blunder? Yet, in the past 4 months,we have had no update on it’s relaunch or progress other than the generic “soon” or “eventually.” The HOM needs to up, live and soon and WAY before the launch of Heart of Thorns.
