Me too liquids. Also I still have 3 ori nodes spawning every 5, not after daily (so 9 respawn at daily timer). I still have massive amounts of mithril respawning every 1-3 hrs, but some mithril 24hrs. Not even rich. I have some mithril just disappearing after I mine a diff node.
It’s very weird. Also rich veins not giving 10 hits but as little as 4?
Also I ran with someone today who was able to mine all 12 ori nodes 2twice in 5 hrs. Once at 5am PST, and again at 10am PST. Not fair when I can do only 3.

BTW the night before it was 2 hrs after daily that I farmed them, so they respawned at daily (the 9 nodes) not 24hrs.
So either Anet is lying, someone doesn’t know what’s going on and just posted that to quiet us, or something else is going on.

Probably a mis-translation from developer-ese into plain english with a little obfuscation thrown in. The daily reset happens every 24 hours.
I really wish they would have said something but if they all are supposed to reset once a day, I’m cool with that. The way it was the price was about to seriously drop anyway so at least this should keep the price somewhat worth the effort of wading through all those kitten risen…

I’ve gotta say, reading this has me on the verge of quitting GW2. I played the GW1 Beta. I bought the Prophecies CE, Factions, Nightfall CE, and EotN. I preordered GW2 Digital Deluxe as soon as I could. I’ve been a fiercely loyal customer for… something like 8 years now? I’ve lost track. I’ve given Arenanet hundreds of my hard-earned dollars, and happily. But this…?
Never, ever have I felt so disrespected by Arenanet. 208 posts, almost 10,000 views, all asking for explanation, wondering why the primary way we achieve progress in this game has been gutted. And the best you can do is a quick note, 6 days later, in a locked thread, utterly without context? WHAT THE HELL? How about you actually post in this thread, and explain why? How about you at least ACKNOWLEDGE the hundreds of players suddenly having to rethink the entire way they do ANYTHING in this game? How about you stop treating us like children and actually explain this to us?!
Maybe I’m just letting off steam. But for 8 years, I’ve been in love with this company, and it just died today. It has nothing to do with changing the balance of a game in a way I don’t like. That happened dozens of times in GW1, I shrugged and I moved on. But suddenly I feel like we’ve all been treated like children, hung out to dry for nearly a week until the company could deign to give a halfhearted clarification. And frankly, I’m left sitting and wondering how I’m going to stay competitive in this game with the limited free time I have. I can log on every 5 hours to spend 20 minutes gathering materials. I can’t sit for multiple 1.5-hour blocks to run instances back to back to achieve the same level of money gathering. What now?

My issue is with the statement. If true why is it still affecting different players differently. I know my friend can mine 10 ori nodes every 5 hrs. I was at his house and watched him do it. Before the daily reset.

REMINDER: The game is ONE MONTH OLD!
Drop the complaints for a bit, even though it’s unfair and I am also being struck by it. I can understand why they changed Orichalcum because the market was already saturated before they implemented the change (order price = selling price). In a sense, this was a good move for the economy.
They’ll fix bugs, but at least give them time to do so. Nothing’s ever gonna be NOWNOWNOW like the American mentality. For now, I’m happy to hear they said something about the issue.

I don’t think people mind that there are bugs, but people do mind about stealth-changes with no explanation where players are ignored or infracted for trying to find out what’s going on.
The fact that it does not affect ALL players is also of concern and the lack of any real response is disheartening.
Personally if Anet had come right out and said “we’re making this specific change because things aren’t where they should be” at the time then people would be much more accepting.
At the moment I’m sort of picturing Jack Nicholson yelling “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!” for some reason… lol.

I don’t care that the game is one month old. If it’s a bug fine. Acknowledge it. But this acknowledgement that nodes spawn 24hrs is BS. Since I know formyself 3 ori nodes spawn every 5hrs, tons of mithril still 1hr.
Also my friend has 10 ori nodes spawning every 5.
If it was effecting everyone equally fine. But it’s not. And with no acknowledgement about it, makes it worse.

And can anyone explain to me why I got 1 (in words: one) mithril each out of three rich mithril veins in Malchor’s Leap before they were exhausted?
If the respawn timers go up it’s ok. Rare stuff should stay rare. Prices go up, so that will balance itself out. But why do I get 1 mithril out of a rich vein?

I get the impression reading that post that the situation with orichalcim and mithril and whatever else now is not what he was referring to. Sadly. I could be wrong about that but I don’t think I am.
This may be a stretch but it may be that he was just referring to ore nodes randomly only giving 1/3 what they are supposed to.

Pennry: TYVM. Doofensmrt in game for a little love to that cartoon also. Yeah i get slowly put back, but my problem is w/e they implemented wasn’t done correctly. It’s affecting people differently. When my friend can mine 10 nodes every 5 hrs, and i get 2-3 every 5. Kinda creates a money gap because of this. Just w/e they did bugged the heck out, and they haven’t even acknowledged this. They put in a missing update DAYS later, and then this again Days later. But neither address the issue of it affecting people differently.

Sorry but it was still a stealth nerf and your still planning on nerfing ori ore? Why do you keep nerfing gold income? but don’t take back the gold exploited due to bugs and other things which is harming the economy more than ori is?
That nerf / change should of been in the patch notes. What other things have been changed that were not in the notes?
Also take away 24 hour server transfers, make it permenant or it costs money / gems to change servers. Problem solved.
Please stop putting in game mechanics that instead of stopping exploiters / botters / gold sellers is actually damaging the game and hurting the normal player base.
If you keep doing this silly things to nerf gold income and pretend its to stop botters you will just have noone left playing your game, they will all leave….

Had several mithril nodes disappear as I finished mining another mithril node. Definitely looks like there is some sort of cap on the amount of ore you can pull from an area.

It really seems sad that they are making so many mistakes considering this was one of the most anticipated games of the year, maybe even decade. It was supposed to be a leader in the way the “new MMO” would be. Honestly the game has so much potential and it’s being screwed up by what appears to be a very inexperienced Dev team. The real sad part is that the Dev team isn’t inexperienced, it’s not a first time try, and it’s not somethign they cranked out in a year or two. Anet, get your act together or you will loose a boat load of players. Almost every thread on the forums has someone either threatening to leave or claiming to be done with GW2.

I don’t mind at all if they nerf the high tier gatherables spawn times. But at least address the concerns of 10000 people who have viewed this thread and explain why some people aren’t affected by the supposed nerf and others are.
And I’m making more selling orichalcum now than I was “pre nerf”, so it’s not all bad. But still, they need to say something. They have to be aware of this thread.

Once the initial rush of people getting geared up runs out, the price of high end mats is going to go way down. This reduction in the spawn rate should help keep prices up for a while.

Ok anet please take me off the list. I’m not exploiting.I’m not botting. I’m not jumping servers or using overflow or any other method of getting more ore then I should. Look at my account and you will see. I’m playing normally maybe i’m a little hardcore and logging in when nodes respawn. but does that deserve restraints when you don’t put those restraints on all. It really isn’t fair. Everyone hardcore or not deserves this same treatment

On the one hand, I appreciate not feeling that I’m tied down to spending 30-45 minutes mining every 5 hours to make money and I feel like the change is a good one for the enjoyment of the game. Every minute I don’t have to spend in Cursed Shore or Malchor’s Leap is a good one.
On the other hand, I think it’s asinine to nerf the spawn rate THIS LATE in the game. People who build their legendary weapons already have had a significantly easier time of it than anyone starting the process now. If it had gone in like this at release it would have been acceptable, but this combined with exploits making precursors and Arenanet not removing them from the players/economy shows significant shortsightedness.

don’t know why anybody actually thinks it’s a nerf. Some of my nods do respawn by 90% of them don’t. If it was a nerf then they would all respawn at the same time. It’s clearly a bug that was introduced when they tried to make a code that prevented ppl from exploiting ori between overflow and normal servers.
Furthermore, some of my friends are not affected

Hi everyone,
My apologies for the belated response! There’s been a lot of confusion surrounding these changes, so while dev posts have been made in other threads, I’ll try to answer questions here as well.
We made some changes to the respawn timers on the resource nodes so that they only respawn once per day. This happens based on our server time at 00:00 UTC, which is 5:00pm PDT and 4:00pm PST, not based on when you last harvested them, which may be why some of you think you are seeing varying respawn rates.
In that sense, the patch notes may seem confusing as they state:
- Ancient wood, Orichalcum Ore, and Mithril Ore nodes respawn rate is now tied directly to characters
What this means is that mining the same node is characater based, not account based, so you could mine the same resource node with multiple characters on the same account.
These changes were made for the same reasons that we made changes to butter; and as Jon Peters has previously mentioned, we’ve gotten to a point where we’re aware that this update was too harsh and we will try to increase the supply of these resources again soon.
If you’re seeing different behavior from what I’ve outlined here, then please let us know so that we can investigate further. Thank you!

One thing this doesn’t answer is why we can harvest all 5 Orichalcum nodes during a 30-minute trip through Cursed Shore, then 24 hours later only the last 2 of those Orichalcum nodes have respawned; the other 3 still show as having been mined if you walk up to them. Definitely not an issue of having overlapped the respawn timer at 5am PST, so are we seeing something else here?

I’m still concerned about Rich Orichalcum Veins. I’ve noticed that unlike every other vein type which gets 10 hits, now Rich Orichalcum Veins get only 3 hits. This wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, and seems like a bug to me. Could we get some indication on whether that was intentional or not?

Then something is wrong, as I have encountered an anomoly to these intended mechanics.
On Aurora Glade, I harvested all 5 Orichalcum nodes between 10am and 11am GMT (around 03:00:00 PDT).
One of the nodes (north of anchorage waypoint) respawned in the last 30 minutes (7pm GMT/ 11:00:00 PDT) but the other 4 have not.

Found out that is server related, mine account exibit that issue in some extension.
If you happen to mine or pick up or open a chest right when the pre-patch is begin pushed to live server and entity in question doesn’t have exausted it’s timer ( aka is not yet availabe / respawned ) it will not longer generated on the client side unitl a server reboot.

Not complaining, BTW, I think that does “make sense” from a RP point of view, although it isn’t necessarily good for gameplay or for your servers, as it will just encourage people to log out and in a lot more frequently.
Just to make it clear, if everything is working correctly, nodes are supposed to respawn at 00:00 UTC and be mineable once with each character, correct?

I can confirm inconsistent respawns of Orichalcum ore at least for Malchor’s Leap. Ring of Fire here. At least one Orichalcum ore has already respawned although I farmed it after the internal server refresh. Other Orichalcum nodes on the same map didn’t respawn yet.
It is one thing to up the spawn time to 24 – which is definitely good and bad at the same time (good since it should be a rare material and bad because people who got to level 80 later than others have a big disadvantage now) – but having the nodes respawn inconsistently is a completely different thing. I can’t stand that situation. Especially since I am farming them with multiple characters and start to lose track about when I farmed one with which char this way.

Many of us have timers on diff spawns that are shorter then “24 hrs” or that can be mined more then once per day.
First mithril is included, tons of mithril is still on a 1hr timer, plus many nodes range from 1-8hrs.
Second, many people have nodes that respawn in 5-6 hrs. I have 1 node that’s 6hrs, and 2 that are 5hrs. Some people report all 12 are spawning every 5 hrs for them.
Rich veins dont’ give 10 ore anymore.

Your statement is not exactly correct. They ARE respawning based on time you last mined them. If I am unable to mine on a day until after 11am when the daily reset occurrs my nodes will not respawn.
I am not against the daily respawn rate, however, if you are going to code this in, you need to remove the minimum time period so we can gather nodes whenever we wish to in the “daily” period of time. I do not want to be punished because my available playtime tends to be off from being able to login every day at a given time.

Once again, players who took their time levelling are hit with Nerfs, leading to a 2-tiered economy (those who got to exploit X, and those who didn’t).
X can be Karma Weapons, Cheaper Armor Sets, Karma Before DR… The list goes on.
I know players with tonnes of Ori already in the bank, for me to get the same amount will take exponentially longer than they did, leading to an ever bigger divide.
IF these “changes” are to fix behavior classes as exploitative, then why is no action ever taken against those who exploited it?
