I’ll poke at this again first thing in the morning, but yeah with it being so inconsistent (I was able to speak with him on my necro this afternoon, along with two other players who were on the same step while I was there), it’s hard to pin down what might be causing him to glitch out like this. One thing that might help – if you’re still stuck, can you perhaps post your race and gender? That’s one of the only things I can think of that would be different between players, since player VO is specific to your character. I think it’s a long shot that would be the cause, and I will make sure to get some code support to see if we can debug this properly in the live environment while it’s failing. I’ve tried everything…still can’t get the frog to talk to me…I’m a female Sylvari.
I’ve tried guesting on 2 different servers…re-gliding down 3 times…gliding from rock from behind him 10+times …also I’ve noticed that no matter where you glide from you’re not high enough to land on the platform he’s playing on.

Could talk to Acan after doing path with Following Tizlak and pwning Mordrem outside of the Village.

Couldn’t talk to Acan after doing path with Defending the Itzel Village.
Could talk to Acan after doing path with Following Tizlak and pwning Mordrem outside of the Village.
Female Human(Warrior).
That could be it. Chose to defend the village and can’t talk with Acan.
Edit: Somehow got it to trigger the dialog after fully logging out while standing near Acan. I’ve tried that previously without success so I’m unsure why it worked this time around. It was during the day cycle so maybe that has something to do with it.
I’ve been trying all day, doing all the things mentioned in this thread. Finally, after exiting the game a few times and still not getting the talk button to pop, i tried the server guest option one more time, and that worked. so just keep trying (logging, exiting, guesting) and it should eventually work.
I had this issue. But for some reason my game crashed mid my fourth try and when I restarted my game I suddenly was in front of Acan and he started talking to me. This isn’t an answer, but is was so weird I had to share. haha
After being told repeatedly to go play the story instead of complaining about hero points I also ran into this bug so I’m a little annoyed but mostly amused by it.
Knowing you guys are working on a fix is a big help, keep it up!
I’m a Human/Male/Mesmer and I was having the issue…I’ve tried a lot of the above. Then I got it to work! I got to the point where you need to talk to him so I went to the CSS (Character Selection Screen) and I guested to a few different instances, so that when I loaded in the map I was right next to him. It finally worked when I guested to Fort Aspenwood. This issue may be instance related.

i’d like to make note, when i was bugged i had completed Defending Itzel Village.
Though the last update did fix my problem. however i don’t know if it was because of a diff map that just happened to not be bugged or because of the bug fix.

I did the defend quest, ran to the overlook and glidered down to the platform. It instantly flipped to the next part of the quest, but I could not talk to the NPC. I tried all of the aforementioned tricks, no avail.
What DID work.
I waypointed to Silverwaste, Logged out to character select, logged back in, waypointed back, and used the glider to get back down to him. The magical mystical cursor changed and I could progress.
I kept logging out to character screen then back in. Last time I did it he was stood away from where he was sat and I could talk to him. Now back on track.
:( still doesn’t work for me either. Wish it would just let me talk to the frog… I tried using Bonfire on him to cook him into frog legs… That didn’t work either.

EDIT/UPDATE: Another player that was having same problem got a party in different instance. It worked for them, so I joined them in the new map and it worked.
