During the first story quest for “Awakening” for Sylvari you are unable to progress because the Troll Salve is behind an invisible wall. It is impossible to get and therefore you can never complete it. I recorded a short clip demonstrating this. Please view the video.

So…yeah…can’t even progress past the FIRST STORY quest as a sylvari…In “Awakening” you must “obtain the troll salve”…Okay, I’d like to, if you would just remove the INVISIBLE WALL preventing me from reaching it.

I have a problem with obtain the troll slave. I can’t reach that thing cause area around this is blocked (invisible wall).

Ditto. Seems everyone is having the same issue. Hope Anet sees this soon. Really wanted to get thru the first lvl 10 chapter.

A new build just went out and still not fixed according to the notes…come on fix this bullkitten so I CAN PROGRESS…

I’ve got the same problem and i think i know why it’s happening. If you look up, you can see the cliff extending outwards. Im guessing when they added gliding, they changed the walls to work at all elevations so people dont fly off the map.

FYI, problem exists in storyline only. U can go to the area freely in normal game play.

Same problem exists in the Norn starting area. “The Great Hunt” is blocked from reaching Issormir.

I have 25lv and still w8 for FIRST story quest….! I hope they will fix it before i reach 80 lvl :-D

Same here!!! Have reported it. REALLY hope they fix it soon. Not being able to get past the first flipping chapter is hella annoying.

They can’t afford to ignore this for too long.

A brand new player who would LOVE GW2->
starts a sylvari, tentatively playing ->
gets progress stuck in the most obnoxious glitch possible ->
decides game is a buggy unprofessional mess ->
quits forever ->
ArenaNet loses the first 800 gems they buy ->
ArenaNet loses the second 800 gems they’d buy ->
ArenaNet loses the HoT sale ->
ArenaNet loses the next 1200 gems they’d buy because they’d love it by now ->
ArenaNet loses the LW chapter sales ->
ArenaNet loses… etc. for however long this player would’ve played GW2->
??? ->
Obviously not profit

This is potentially an exponential financial loss, and ArenaNet should be prioritizing fixing things like this.

Running into the same thing. The troll chieftain isn’t loading, and the salve is behind an invisible wall.

Maybe if we write alot of posts here, they’ll fix it faster :-)

Read other post at the forum and find this problem, “My story – can’t continue personal story”, hasn’t been fixed for 4 months, and it continues.

i did that story quest before patch with no probs at all so…. Gief response Anet

They must fix it cause nobody who wants to make new Sylvari cannot do that…

Having the same problem with the Charr personal story at level 20, “Searching for the Truth.” No prisoner (objective) to talk to and, oddly, there’s no way to leave the instance other than logging the character out, as the “leave instance” button is missing and the exit is bugged. I know there’s a separate topic for that particular quest line, but it seems to be the same deal. Kind of disheartening to hear that this has been going on for months with no clear resolution. :\

I reported this in the game and now I’m here seeing everyone’s messages. Keep trying but still not fixed; 2 days now. Sad…..I just started playing this game….
I do feel better knowing I’m not an idiot missing some “secret” trick but sure hope you get it fixed soon; I was enjoying this little character!

Seems to been already 3 days with this simple bug?

How much longer do we have to wait? – How hard can it be to adjust or remove that bounding box or change the instance barrier?

I remember this same issue happening a few times over the past couple years.

Either it’s not a simple fix, or it’s linked to something that’s repeatedly changed.

Just got my husband playing and he’s having this problem with his Sylvari for a week now. So we decide to go do my Asura’s personal story and hers is bugged too and not spawning flame golem QQ – personal story is kind of important. It really needs to be addressed. I dont want to recommend my friends and family if they can’t even play main content for their character.

So ArenaNet have a big problem now and could loss some players…include me.

Issue still persist, I’m finding some people have similar bugs with other stories as well..so I’m guessing Anet is working on more than a couple bugs in this category, and will probabily launch a patch including fixes on other bugs as well, aside the one at hand here.

Kind of wild that this issue is still present after 4 days when it’s literally preventing people from playing parts of the game… I guess it’s harder to fix than we’d think since Anet is taking so long, but it’s pretty offputting that I can’t do my sylvari’s personal story…

How is this not fixed yet? Sigh…

Level 80 Sylvari Revenant with 88% Map completion still waiting for this story step to be fixed.
