Transmuting Legendary = Exotic [Merged]
Yeah i transmuted my Flameseeker but there somethings that still worried me, if you link the weapons in the chat the name will be orange.
The “legendary” word above the class weapon dissapered , and you can put in Mystic Forge with another 3 exotic weapons
Then there go my question, our legendaries, are REAL legendary weapons ? , or we only have exotic weapons with puple name ? I can still put 1 transmuted Twilight and a transmuted Sunrise and turn in a Eternity ?
There a lot of thins that are worring me , they seem exotic weapons with only purple names.
And if this is true, this not only a bug or fail desing like previus issue, they are lying us messed our legendary weapons.
I expect a answer soon, and if they are messed a REAL SOLUTION, no a " we cant do anything sorry……", I pay for my mistakes if i bug, exploit etc…. i expect that arena.net pay for their mistakes if they lie their costumers.
And im worried a lot because arena.net dont have 1 minute of their time to answer some important matter to us, it cant be good.

That’s how Transmutation always worked.
Rarity label is changed to “Transmuted” and the item providing stats to the Transmuted item (Slot #2) is reskinned to look like the one providing the skin (Slot #1). You’re wearing a Cleric Pearl Shield that looks like The Flameseeker.
With the latest patch, they just made it so the highest rarity tier is preserved when it comes to the font color, but nothing else changed, you’re still reskinning an Exotic with a Legendary skin, so the item simply behaves like an Exotic:
- In system chat-logs
- At the Forge
- When linked in chat
Really, if you care about the Legendary status of your weapon, don’t mess with it. Transmutation destroys two items to create a, new, Transmuted one, and Legendaries make no exception.
Then they lied to us, the patch note said:
“Transmuting weapons now preserves the higher rarity of the two items.”
No,
“Transmuting weapons now preserves the FONT COLOR of the higher rarity of the two items.”
I expect some official statement or a answer to this, but seems that they are just ignoring us because they know that the weapons are messed and they enter in “mute mode” about this issue, this is no joke matter and i think that legendary users deserve a decent answer by Arena.net
Then they lied to us, the patch note said:

Maybe they lied. To me, it looks just like poor wording, since the final result isn’t either Exotic or Legendary, so, if anything, Rarity is completely lost. The final result is a “Transmuted” item with purple-worded skin and attributes coming from an Exotic. The Font color is pretty much the only way to tell the rarity of an item obtained that way, so, to me, it’s just working as intended.
“Transmuted” is not even a rarity level, it’s just the label for items obtained by “combining the appearence of an item with the attributes of another”, which is just what is happening here. So let’s assume they actually lied in the patch notes: the description of Fine Transmutation Stones still describes the operation quite clearly. You’re breaking down two weapons and combining a Legendary Skin with Exotic Attributes → You get an weapon whose attributes are those of an Exotic, but looking like a Legendary. Now it even retains the Legendary font color even tought the core item is one tier below.
I really don’t get how you were expecting Transmutation to operate. What you need is more attribute options for Legendary Weapons, not a downgrade through trasmutation, which is working perfectly fine to me. You’re just asking for a non-existing mechanic – freedom to choose whichever attributes you like best without the downsides of Transmutation – to magically appear in game, only for Legendaries.
You can suggest it if you like, but still, don’t ask for fixes to non-broken things.
If the transmutation of legendary weapons turning into “no legendaries” is not broken because Jason King answer this in this same post ?

This – the item not retaining the purple name – is a “bug”. The underlying mechanic is working just fine and wasn’t changed. They worked on a fix for the rarity font, which was included in yesterday’s patch.
Still, transmutation works just like before – as intended – and the two items still are destroyed in the process and fused to create an entirely different thing with elements of both. This is well documented by both users’ experience and the official Wiki.
That’s the very point of transmutation and I really hope you’re not expecting them to break a feature that works fine for most people only to turn it into a Magical Stat Changer + Status Preserver for Legendary Weapons™.
well , it begin the hour in that arena.net answer to the posts, i expect some answer or aclaration to the new “transmutation”, and if our weapons are real legendaries when they update the stats, or exotic with purple names.
Ideally, all they have to ensure is that transmuted legendaries still get the bump up to ascended when asc weapons come out.

i made my sunrise last Halloween event and i keep equipping it after any patch,
still no achievement!
they said we gonna fix it, but i don’t think so, after all this time.
I am curious as well if this bug has been fixed yet or not. I saw that is was called a bug earlier, but that was over a month ago.
You’re right! This is a bug- we are tracking it. A fix should be coming down the line in the future

Yeah, at least know if the plan with this patch was “update” all the funtions of transmuted legendaries ( eternity transmutation, stats update, etc…) or only change the font color.

I think it was intended, but I don’t think it is fair to require Two Map completions for One Legendary.

What’s the point of getting a best in slot piece if its’ stats are totally unrelated to your build, anyway?
We definitely should be able to transmute a legendary to stats of our own choice without getting ‘punished’ for doing so by losing the best in slot status
Or, introduce something as simple as a “Special” stat change stone that you can use to choose the appropriate stats for your item by using this special stone.
Since Anet obviously can add new items to the game, there is no reason to think they can’t introduce a different item. One similar to the transmutation stones for use on your gear/weapon once to change the stats. Make the “special” stone Account Bound so that it cannot be sold to others.
Make this “special” stone obtainable just like the current transmutation stones are now. Stat problem solved.
I pray this gets fixed i transmuted my mesmer’s Sunrise… But i still want to make eternity… o.o
I think we can assume that the fact that Anet considers this a bug that they DO plan on making transmutation of legendaries viable. I suppose it should calm those of us who are worried we might not get the upgrade we deserve because we transmuted our legendary based on the notion that it will preserve the legendary status as implied by the patch notes.

I pray that this fix doesn’t remove the only way to have order-specific equipment on a player without that order. I didn’t see the armors before joining the orders and I can’t change my order to get the armors that I like.

The previous issue with transmuting Legendary items has been resolved. When a Legendary item is transmuted, it will retain its Legendary label. However, no details have been announced about how the modification/upgrade of stats will affect already transmuted Legendary items. So we’d be unable to say just how, if at all, your item would be affected by this. When more information emerges, it would be posted at the website (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/) and forums (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum).

Hmm, dont suppose they can go ahead and “announce” what its gonna be? really wanna transmute to better stats already but am hesitant to do so if i forfiet the upgrades.

Still semi-broken. Just did it now.
- Transmuting a legendary now retains the “purple name” label. However, if you link it in chat, it shows as exotic.
- Equipping a transmuted legendary before equipping the legendary itself first does not count towards the achievement.
- Rarity shows as “Transmuted”.
I’m guessing it’s not actually a legendary anymore, it just looks like one to you when you mouse over it. Which is all that really matters, I guess.
Any updates on if my newly transmuted Sunrise will be viable for Eternity?? As much as I wanted to wait, the PVT Stats for my mesmer hurt my itch for ALL THE CRITS.
I think everyone spent their time into getting a legendary item, they shouldn’t be forced to change their build or play with less than perfect stats for their build.
I mean why do we have Ascended gear, for the pretty pink rather than silly gold? No, for the 5% (or what ever % increase, OH and the Agony Resist…..) on stats.
Why cripple us with a Legendary item that we can’t use if we want to be optimal players.
I sent a support ticket in the other day and the response was promising. They said that they were looking into it but couldn’t make any promises about it, typical anet response. But I can’t see it being difficult to change all the items with Sunrise (or other legendary) skins back to default and ascend them that way, seeing as they changed priorly transmuted Weapons to show the purple text.
Just another note, when you un-equip the item it show in game messages what you transmuted it onto. The fix that Anet made simply forced the game to pull the Skins name and put the highest rarity on the weapon.
SO, Long story short, crossed fingers for this being updated in this update but who knows. It’d be nice for those waiting for Eternity, or at least let people know they need to start farming for a second Twilight/Sunrise xD

The colour of the chat link is fixed, but it seems that they still work like Exotic in the Mystic Forge, i guess that we wont get a official answer about the transmuted legendaries working like exotic, the “upgrade stats”, and if the are exotic with purple names .
I just lost the hope about all this issue, arena.net seems to want ignore this thread to make “control damage” and no giving us a real answer, i alredy grown tired of this issue many times.
Confirmed that a transmuted Sunrise is still acting like an exotic.

To me, It seems like this shouldn’t be an issue to begin with.
Transmuting a legendary skin with an exotic’s stats should result in an exotic weapon, why the hell did they change that & added legendary status/font color to the result!?
Does transmuting with a white weapon’s stats still make for a legendary?
Just seems like they opened a horrible can of worms…
-If they add ascended weapons in the future, should every ‘exotic stats turned legendary’ transmutes get a stat boost along with the legendaries?
-If so, why not just transmute the legendary with a white weapon? the stat boosts should apply to those as well…
Skin & stats should be kept separate, and rarity is a stat. I’d fully expect a legendary weapon’s stats merged with a white weapon’s skin to result in a legendary, not the other way around.
Letting the legendary rarity follow the skin just seem like giving people false hope to me, there will be a lot of crying going on when they update legendary stats.

I would greatly appreciate an updated response on this. even if a perfect fix isn’t coming anytime soon, just telling us that transmuting now is OK and will be resolved eventually would be wonderful.
Any update on this? Please advise if it is safe or not to transmute a legendary currently, even if a permanent fix is far off.

We only want to know if our Legendaries are trully “legendaries” in all the aspetcs? And what is gonna happen to us in the Ascend upgrade ?
We made our legendaries with a great effort and the lack of answers of updates about this is awful.

Bump! and will continue to bump till we get an answer, i worked hard to create Twilight and can’t use it because of those horrible stats.
We have been asking for months about this problem, when ANet should have thinked about it from the beginning since transmutation stones have been available since launch!

This is low priority issue. In fact it is because it only affects your character selection screen.
I personally think there is a relatively obvious fix to this issue: bypass transmutation altogether by introducing new recipes to the mystic forge for each legendary using the same stat combination formula used when crafting regular weapons at the weaponsmith, artificer, or huntsman stations.
Example: Twilight + 1 mystic coin + 1 skill point crystal + 1 vial of powerful blood= Twilight with beserker stats.
Swap out the blood for an armored scale to get knights stats, ect, ect.
Given the time investment to make a legendary, its silly that we have to mess around with transmutation to get the stats we want.

If they fix it….will we be able to create account bound legendaries? Or maybe if you transmute it you can give it to another character? Bound on one character sucks…i don’t want to craft another legendary because i don’t like to play warrior anymore…
I think a legendary requires enough hours + gold to be accountbound in addition.
