Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
Did the ‘fix’ from yesterday mess other things up? I’m having the occasional lagspike since yesterday evening.
Meh…I’m disappointed we still don’t have a fix. But I have my IT background too and I know how difficult it can be to track down bugs and fix them.
But I’m still disappointed. Really, I want to raid the gemstore. ><

There was no fix yesterday.
Plus One for people affected by this bug…
They should make a real Mac version or this sort of thing will happen again.
Quoted for Truth.
I doubt this is ever going to happen. Pretty sure the only reason we got a Mac Client in the first place was that the only additional cost would be the cider licensing and the occasional developer time if something breaks (as in this situation). Unless they believe that a real Mac Port would get them a whole lot of new customers, I just don’t see it.
Edit: This is all OT though.
Seeing it or not, it’s something we’re allowed to ask for, we should expect, and would find foolish not to clamor for. The way it was presented was that the game was native for mac in all the ways they tried to attract us to the game. It was a lie of omission and one they alone can put right. It’s a matter of supply and demand. We DEMAND they SUPPLY us with a Native Mac Client.
Absolutely agree.
While in the end of the description they said in collaboration with TrashGame cider client, the whole presentation of the product was a trap. “Beta Client” until the release of the “finalized product”. Where is it? 2 years and the same trash, even worse than before.

No one knows when the TP problem will be solved. But one thing I know, after this game released, mac players has been affected by different kind of bugs which severely ruin playing experience. Each time new patch released, mac players are the first to bear severe problems, for example, crash and broken TP. Unfortunately, solutions always came late. It makes old problem solved, but new problem appears.
So, I am quite sure something “new” is waiting for us on 15/4.

I thought they changed something on the server-side which doesn’t require our clients to be updated. Anyway, i’m rubberbanding hard since yesterday evening.
4/11 morning a hotfix will be released? Well, 4/11 my butt.
when will it be fixed? cause idk what to do know, i need to sell many things before new patch comes

Honestly if you guys want to leave the game it affects no one. Me personally, it was my birthday April 11th and was quite excited about a fix for the trading company bug on said day. However, I am also a Computer Science major, and I understand the difficulties in bug tracking. You can’t expect them to just fix problems. It’s called support because they are trying to help, they aren’t called fixers. Give them time and a fix will come. I understand the mac side has “received little help,” but it’s understandable, the PC side of this game came first, naturally there will be more support for that client. I love this game, and I am not going to leave it just because of a small bug that will soon be fixed. Just my take.
This exactly. I’m a Game Design major, and earlier this week, I was in the same boat as everyone else; I kept complaining, and tried every fix possible UNTIL someone from Anet confirmed that they know there is a problem and are working on it. At this point, that is the best news we could ask for. And yet, no one wants to read the nine pages of comments, so I somehow get bashed by telling people they are working on a fix. I haven’t been able to sell stuff for days, just like all of you, and yet instead of complaining that the fix still isn’t out, I did other stuff and check back on here every now and then.

Perhaps they meant 4th of November, not the 11th of April

So you are saying, the others are taking things for granted and we should start appreciating Anet’s effort in fixing the issue? I think you are not getting the problems right here. Few issues:
1) We all have paid for the game. What Anet is doing here is that, they prioritize PC fixes with money and resources earned from the Mac community. Is this a Ponzi scheme?
2) If Anet isn’t 100% sure about any hotfixes, please do not dish out any dates and time . Just say you don’t have anything ready to be released yet, and let the community continue to bash the issue. Guess what? Anet is already used to it. So there’s no reason to make things to sound promising.
3) Mac beta my butt. Anet is somewhat resembling the software company I used to work for, which repackaged their old products and then released to their clients and claimed it was something entirely new. Resemblance? Both are not originals but yet claimed to be one
So please, don’t ask the community what their top 5 wishes are. Better get your hands on improving your firm’s QC before even talking about anything else. It is one of your firm’s responsibilities after recording the revenue from the mac community because WE HAVE PAID FOR YOUR PRODUCTS. It’s a Golden rule or close your company.

My sarcasm radar is beeping wildly. Feel like defending for Anet?

If you, like everyone else, would actually read the comments, Anet has answered and said the fix they were working on, and were going to release yesterday, didn’t actually work right. That kind of stuff happens all the time with programming. You fix one thing and seven more bugs pop up. They have already said they’re working on it again. And yet people still keep coming in here saying that Anet isn’t answering, which they finally are. The PC version gets a fix first because that’s easier to do. They didn’t stop working on the Mac version to fix the PC, though. Do you really think there’s just one team working on the two different platforms? I want the fix too, but what is complaining going to do? They’re working on it.
I came here to see if there was magically a fix since Friday night, but just more complaining. lol.
I’m hoping they have the consideration to extend the time of all their sales… including the duration the current claim ticket weapons remain at 1 claim ticket so the price doesn’t skyrocket :l
Also, wouldn’t mind if they gave a courtesy bank tab & collectibles expansion for us ~ cough cough
when will it be fixed? cause idk what to do know, i need to sell many things before new patch comes
Probably not until two weeks or so after the new patch. Unfortunately, you are probably SOL.
Next time they come and try state that this is the best mmo out there atm …i ll know to direct ppl in this kind of threads ….
At least have the curtsey to keep us updated every few hours ….

Can you verify that they are actually working on it? You can’t, just like how I can’t verify that they are slacking around and not doing work. But guess what? It’s their job to show us their progresses, and I mean actual progresses not dishing out unrealistic dates and time on the forum. In a nut shell, pressure from clients is the best motivation for companies achieving better performances, not just Anet.

This response is great. Your other responses, to me, just seemed like you were attacking them and weren’t satisfied with anything less than a complete fix right this second. I understand the annoyance of waiting and all we’re getting is responses, but after not having any Anet employee comment in the Mac portion of the forums for eight months, having an active Mac forum employee is amazing. The responses have been enough for me personally, just because I’m so used to them never answering at all or telling us anything. I’m hoping with this new forum poster, we’ll be getting a much more involved input.
Let people say their piece, it’s cathartic and if Anet is a good company they can turn calamity into triumph by how they deal with unhappy customers. Previous games I played they were generous in compensating players if a major fault occurred, on the flip side I didn’t like how I was dealt with when they messed up on later problems which was the very reason I left them. I done some programming myself though many years ago so yes I know how difficult a profession it is but as a consumer I can only sympathise so far, just as my home was a chinese takeout for over 18yrs, sure it’s unpleasant when customers complain at food taking long to prepare but I still get grumpy when waiting for food as a customer like everyone else haha!
Just to add I think people here haven’t aired their grievances excessively, it’s not a small problem and if this had been an issue affecting most windows users I am sure many harsh posts would litter the forums!

Having the same exact problem as everyone else. Just made a new Elementalist aswell so not having TP is a PAIN. Hope for a fix soon!
Same problem too.
Patiently waiting a fix.

I would LOVE to make a new character, but for some reason I can’t seem to buy a new character slot at the limited time discount…
I also have some bugs with Trading. It either stays blank or the content is pure HTML, with no CSS.
It’s really annoying. Any ideas how to quick fix it until a patch?
TP isn’t a big deal since I’m facing a major issue that prevents me to use the LFG tool,
play with a party and chat in the game. Support told me to wait couples of week for them to solve the issue.
its okay since im just a returning casual player … think the game doesn’t want me to come back.
Inventory full, sales missed, a build that never came.
The sadness and the sorrow.
I think one gold per day to affected player is very reasonable compensation because we really keep losing gold everyday.
5th day can’t buy/sell anything in TP…
I think one gold per day to affected player is very reasonable compensation because we really keep losing gold everyday.
Only 1g??? I make at least 3-4g every day simply by running dungeons. This kind of service by Anet makes me wonder if they are actually doing anything at all.

I don’t mind Anet to pay more. I had to salvaged rare and exotic items which should be sold on TP. The price is more than 1G as well.
I hope there’s a fix on Tuesday
Are you kidding, right? You don’t receive anything. Well, maybe a delaaayed patch.
Never patches for Mac Beta? BTW, why the hell is it still in beta? Lol
+1 same problem here!
You guys never seem to read the previous pages !?! There IS a quick temporary solution called CROSSOVER!! I’m using it right now to sell my stuff at least till the new patch OR till they fix it.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Just for the heads up, I made some diggings the whole night figuring out how to use the “crossover” and I finally made it.
TP is WORKING over CROSSOVER, but unfortunately the game is NON-playable for me. The client is so glitchy and slow, but selling and purchasing is possible as you can see in the attachment.
So what I did is gathering all what I wanted to sell in my bank, and I made one login thru crossover made the selling and purchased what I wanted and then came back to my mac client version and kept playing.
I KNOW it’s not the best solution but it worked for me and I will accept it temporary better than waiting all this time.
If you are interested how I did it:
- Download Crossover & install it.
- Downloaded GW2 “WINDOWS” Version
- Run Crossover and choose “install a windows application”
- Choose the installer which is located in “Guild Wars 2” folder in your desktop.
- You need to choose a “bottle” which is somehow a folder inside crossover to run the game. Simply choose a name and the supported windows you like. For me it worked automatically at winxp/winVista. Then hit INSTALL.
- Crossover will run the launcher you will see a quick downloading follows by an update then the real downloading which will show you somehow around 127,000 files. At that time STOP the downloading and close it. Then close crossover.
- Go to your Mac Version GW2 in you applications folder, right click then choose “show package contents”.
- Go to > Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > GW2. then COPY all it’s contents into the folder > /$USER/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/GW2Setup.exe/drive_c/Program Files/ ( create a folder in here and call it “Guild Wars 2”. ) This is like 19GB I KNOW :/- For me what I randomly did, is right click on GW2.exe and OPEN WITH > CROSSOVER
Crossover ran the launcher without downloading anything and the game started. Again it’s not playable for me, but I managed to make the TP & GEM Store works …. Temporary
Hope that I helped somehow
So, you use CROSSOVER to use Trading, however to play you use the standard client?

Don’t make any logical error. Why not we play by a PC?
We go to a restaurant and order steak. But a hamburger comes out. The chef says hamburger beef and steak are the same when they are digested in your stomach. What a joke.

I agree. Crossover is a temporary fix. Temporary. Until Anet makes a fix, we will never be able to completely play the game. So, Anet, PLEASE give us at least SOME info on the fix.

Any idea how many Mac players there are?
This is pretty ridiculous. 4 days, no information, no updates.
Since the release TP had problems. 1 day worked and the following day who knows… It’s not a problem of these days.
These days it stopped definitively, but there were bugs never fixed since the release.. so stop to defend the indefensible.
It is apparent that there is a whole bunch of us in this boat. Please don’t expect a solution to happen first thing Monday morning. Update meetings, conference calls and testing the fix need to happen first before releasing the fix publicly. Put on your big boy/girl pants and suck it up, buttercup. If you are raging to the point of making yourself appear to having the patience of a 3 year old, go do something else. I am sure Anet knows exactly how much money this issue is costing them in cash flow, I know how much I have saved so I can only imagine the panic that the accountants are feeling. Bottom line is Apple users spend more money than PC users. They are working feverishly to fix this issue, that you can be sure of.

Whoa whoa. We have received information and updates. It wasn’t all in this forum (some of it came from the reddit thread about this). But we know this is a heart bleed issue. So it was important that they fix that vulnerability as fast as possible. Yes, that meant our client got screwed up. I’m not happy about that either. We also know they’re working on a fix and were working on a build but that it didn’t fix it by the end of Friday so they didn’t release it.
So we actually know a lot compared to the previous times we’ve had a game breaking bug (remember the patcher bug where we knew nothing for weeks?). Yes, I’m disappointed that Anet continues to treat us like second class citizens but this is hardly a great example of that beyond the fact that cider ports suck in general.

The mockery in that statement aside, Anet feels that the Mac users of GW2 can be trifled with. A fix was promised on the morning of 4/11. Did it come? LOL NOPE. Then, a new build was promised that would fix all these things. Not only did it not fix them, the build was never even released. I’m just hoping that these issues can be fixed by tuesday. Oh, mac users also deserve compensation for all the gold they could have made, but did not, because of this bug.
Anet blatantly disregarded Apple’s warning of OpenSSL, and this is the result.
“OpenSSL does not provide a stable API from version to version. For this reason, although OS X provides OpenSSL libraries, the OpenSSL libraries in OS X are deprecated, and OpenSSL has never been provided as part of iOS. Use of the OS X OpenSSL libraries by apps is strongly discouraged."
I’m not saying Apple knew the Heartbleed bug was going to happen, but they knew the dangers of using it and informed the world. Anet, did you listen? NOPE.
Could someone explain what :copied the GW data/exe file to a crossover bottle means? Please dumb it down for me….
Moving your GW2 data file from your mac or windows client is a way to save you from having to redownload the entire game again. Frankly, you can ignore the step. It is one of those steps where if you don’t know what it means you’re more likely to mess something up and redownloading shouldn’t be an issue (unless you have a data cap).
