When I try to play in my sister’s house I never get confirmation emails. Now it is 3rd try and still nothing… This is not the first time I have this problem. Please, could you improve it somehow? What is really strange is that I got email for login into account management quite fast – in like 2 minutes and on the first try.

I have mobile autheticator activaded but recently my phone cracht . i now have a Iphone and download the google autentictor app. but my gw2 acound still uses the tinked of my old phone. how can i reset this? i cant deactivae it neither cus my old pone’s authenticator app has to give me 2 codes.

So I just started playing, and I am sick of having to authenticate my I.P. everytime I play.
I am playing from the same location.
Steam never tells me I am playing from a new location, so I KNOW my I.P. isn’t changing.
Are you ever going to fix this problem?
Do NOT tell me to call my ISP to confirm the I.P. every time I try to play this game, because that is ridiculous.
Just let the game recognise my system specs, and then it will know I am on the same PC every time.
This obviously needs addressing, judging by the amount of people here with issues, and how long it has been going on.

I’ve downloaded the guild wars 2 this past sunday. I even started playing it now its Tuesday and I can’t get on. I changed my password but this authenticator is still running. even gives my this error that it doesnt match my ip for my laptop. fix this problem and its not my isp provider.

Hi i had the google authenticator on my phone. I recently upgraded to the HTC ONE and when i did i forgot that i had my GW2 account linked to the google app. Now that its another app on a new phone i can no longer remove the current app thats attached to my account. I can verify everything thats needed to know for removing the current app and placing the new app on the account from my new phone (its the same phone number)

Hello, I recently had a problem where my mobile authenticator was not working correctly. I could log in with my username and password, but when it asked me for my authentication number it would kick me back to the log in screen saying that my username and password were invalid.

I originally thought this meant that my account had been hacked, so I got my password changed, but the problem persisted. After asking the support team to deactivate my authenticator I could log in as normal.

I would like to reactivate my authenticator as soon as possible but I am reluctant to do so now in case this problem happens again. I don’t know if it was that my authenticator app had gotten out of sync or something else but I believe it was the authenticator that was the problem and not my account details.

I’ve pretty much got the same problem. I’ve been using the authenticator since it was first availble, with no problems. However, when the patch rolled out this week (8th May), I immediately couldn’t log in any more. I’ve unlinked the authenticator to be able to log in, and now can’t re-link it, despite deleting and re-installing the application, trying to link via scanning the bar code or by typing in the key. I’ve tried asking a question on this, and been told it’s probably my phone remembering my original key despite deleting it, and they can’t help me (which doesn’t explain why it stopped working with the original key). The timing is also really suspicious – I logged in using the authenticator not long before the patch, and couldn’t log in immediately after.

Has anyone else had this problem (either authenticator failing this week, or the iOS version of the app remembering old keys), and had any luck resolving it?

Never mind, I’ve managed to solve it. It wasn’t a fault in the authenticator remembering old keys, it was simply the time was wrong. Turning off automatic clock syncing, then turning it back on to force the phone to re-sync its time appears to have solved the problem.

Hi I currently have the same problem. My phone was just updated to a new version of android and as such it erased my authenticator and so now I cannot un-link it. Just now I can log in because I had saved my network but once I change network I will no longer be able to do so.

How can I unlink the previous authenticator so I can link a new one?

I played earlier on the same laptop. Authorization went well. Now your security system believes the IP address is different. I go to authorize it and I get a Failure message. Any prospective time when this issue will be fixed? Just bought the game and was hoping to play it. :/

I’m really getting tired of this.. 90% of the time I DON’T GET AN E-MAIL ANYMORE.. I have to keep logging in and out until I do!!! And for every little thing I do on this website I have to authenticate my e-mail!! And even then, I don’t always get something in my e-mail! WHY DO I HAVE TO AUTHENTICATE MY ACCOUNT EVERY TIME I LOGIN!? PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Ugh. Same problem as many here. IP uses dynamic ISPs; have to constantly ‘authenticate;’ don’t get authentication emails. I used to get these in a timely manner (and still get them quickly from Steam, other games). Now I’m lucky to get them within an hour and they frequently do not arrive at all. (At the moment, I’m waiting more than 40 minutes after a log-in attempt with no luck.)

At this point, the game is broken for me. Signing in takes the better part of an evening, and by the time I can get in, I no longer have time to play. I know you guys are claiming that the email problems aren’t on your end, but many people are getting them, and ultimately it falls on your company to find a feasible solution to an issue that stems from the way you’ve configured security protocols, considering how widespread it has become. Something like an option that checks physical addresses of equipment or something else needs to be implemented.

Hi, my brother bought the game Guild Wars 2 recently, and we are trying to validate his email adress almost daily, and the system never sends a validation link. It worked for me, that was a long time ago, because i bought this game when it came out though.
But now it doesn’t seem to work anymore. Please, people of support, do you have any ideas that could help me out?

P.S.: By the way, Guild Wars 2 is the best game i ever played, i love it.

Could some sort of authenticator error be added to the game client? I’m fairly certain I just spent the last hour trying to determine the source of a “password or account name incorrect” error when in fact the authenticator was very slightly out of sync with google time…

(I could only connect if I hit enter on the authenticator code during the last few seconds before it changed but inadvertently this appeared to allow me to log on to the forums but not the game client)

A few times now there has been someone from China trying to login to my account. Changing my password is one thing, but is there a way that you can setup your account so that you can only login from the countries you select?

There are only 2 countries I know that I will ever play Guild Wars in.

I’ve already managed to fix this, but I thought I should post it here in case others experience this problem.

I am visiting my parents in another city and was trying to log into the website in order to download the GW2 client. It accepted the user name and password, but then when I entered the code from Google Authenticator it returned the error that either the username or password was incorrect. (This was not the case, because if I intentionally entered the wrong password, it wouldn’t even ask about the authenticator.)

After trying several other things, I ended up hunting down a link to download the game client from guildwars2.com without being logged in. The game client in fact did accept the code from Google Authenticator, and after that the website allowed me to log in (without asking for the code again).

It seems like there might be an issue with the website not accepting the code correctly. I was logging in from a 64-bit XP machine running FireFox that had just been factory reset a few days ago, no extensions or anything installed since. The phone with Google Authenticator is an old HTC Desire running dGB-mod (Android 2.3.5).

I get the same issue here, it use to work no problem from the website now I get that same error you get, “username or password was incorrect” but I can also log into the game client and it accepts the Google Authenticator code no problem.

Hopefully they fix this issue soon.

Now, I am setting up new keys for my accounts but when I got to GW2 I ran into a huge problem. It asks for two consecutive codes from the old sequence before it can be removed from the account. I have no way of getting these codes since they keys were wiped.

So, what do I and others in the same situation do to remove the old authenticator and add a new one? I can also see something like this happen if a phone was lost or stolen, so this won’t be a one-time action.

I have the same problem as Aadain and my problem is that I can’t reset the authenticator because I never received a serial code on my email when I prepurchased the game months ago from this site.

I just tried the mobile authenticator for the first time (Android) and encountered the following, what appears to be a bug:

After linking the account to the authenticator, I could not log into the forums anymore. When trying to log in with username, password, and code, it would always say that my user or password is wrong. Log-in to the actual game with the game client worked fine.

I then unlinked the authenticator again. Is this a known issue?

Hello. Heres my problem.For two days cant normaly get in the game, because waiying for authorization mail for 30-40 min, and when its arrive, its useless cause of time, using Gmail. the last days I got some heavy troubles with google’s authenticator and the forum login. Every time I try to login, using the authenticator I get the error wrong password/username. Atm I can only get access by login via the game client first and saving the network i’m currently in.

I have a bit of a problem with the 2-factor authentication.

I replaced my phone recently. I did not think to unlink the old authentication. The Security tab wants me to put in two codes that I can no longer generate. That’s fine though. I’ve searched and found how I’m SUPPOSED TO be able to get around that ( https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery ).

I entered the required info and got verified. But my only option is to reset the password. The button to “Disable Linked Authentication” is grayed out and I can’t use it. In the account Security section, it still thinks I’m linked. But on the Recovery page, it doesn’t seem to acknowledge that I have anything to unlink. So which is it?

Fortunately, I’m still able to login and play. I’m not actually impacted by this currently. But the fact that I’m not able to unlink the old and relink the new phone is quite disconcerting and I hope I can get some help on that. Having 2-step security set up has the potential to really screw me someday if I’m not able to update my settings.

For my other account, the Auth- email isnt coming in time. The authentication outdates before i get the e-mail. Disabling the email-auth with recovery is grey also. I have already had this issue months earlier with the mobile authenticator, and after that i stopped using it, until yesterday i enabled the email one again. I dont want to keep my account locked even from myself :P

I just purchased the game this past Sunday, 10/28/2013. None of the authentication emails have been received, yet I’ve gotten emails from support concerning display name changing. I cannot skip the verification, because the button to do so is greyed out, not to mention for some reason when I actually GET TO that screen, I’m suddenly no longer logged in. Logging in starts the cycle all over again. I can stay logged in until I get to the “bypass button screen” where suddenly I’m no longer logged in.
