During the event called “Battle at Tariri” I crash every 60 sec: unplayable! Gentlemen, this last pacth is ruining all your work and putting Arenanet in an awkward position. I can’t even put another report because the game closes directly.
Horrible situation. -.-

Solid, I cant post the specs because it freezes my computer when it crashes, I have to restart pc. Any way of retrieving that info after rebooting?

For all 32bit OS there’s probably a solution:
- run Command Prompt as administrator
- run this command: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072
- restart your computer and play GW2

I was able to play HOT content without any crash after this. And I don’t have to use the lowest graphic settings.

I will try this tonight and let you know. Sad if a player can offer more support than ANet.

Constantly crashing for me too..buying game for second time to not be able playing it!!!! Seriously??? And you expect patience? I had patience 3 years with you and it’s my fault i didn’t realise I am expecting too much from you!!!! This is the second time in my life i think to quit gw2 and this time I will do it!!! I am just sick of the whole thing! This is NOT the right way to threat your customers! It is the worst way not even having a statement or just say: we work on the problem. No, silence like always and this is not the first time, there are big issues with this game. You destroyed everything. Sorry, but you lost me, my girlfriend and 6 friends of mine!! We will search something else to play, because guess what: your game is nice but NOT PLAYABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do I care about raids or new maps etc, when I crash the whole time. And NO its not my pc, because i didn’t had this problem before yesterday!! I will never forgive you for destroying wvw too!!!

This is the moment when a man comes and tell you: “if you have 32 bit you have to upgrade to…blablablabla” and you keep reading reports about 64bit users having crashes too but some of them no, so the keep telling you: “You are being so dramatic, game works fine, you just have to buy kitten new pc and 16gb of ram with a I7 processor… i have it already so the game don’t crash for me” and you look at them like :-E

What I’m seeing here is a lot of belly aching and not a lot of people posting the details so that ANet actually has something to look at. Are they all OOM errors? What about specs? How much memory? How many people are checking their task manager to see how much memory is being used before GW2 starts. This is very important if you only have 4g of RAM. Kill all the extra crap running in the background. Kill Firefox, Thunderbird and anything else you have running. They all use memory. 64-bit hardware has been the norm since around 2004 with the release of the 64-bit Pentium 4. Check your hardware, if you’re running 64-bit hardware and 32-bit OS, do the upgrade…it’s free. I see lots of people posting “memory could not be read” errors, which is a different issue and points to a hardware problem with the physical memory. These errors will get more prevalent with the x64 client simply because it’s using more memory. Others are posting issues with nVidia driver crashes, which also seem to becoming more prevalent with HoT…again…not directly related to the client. Memory issues like this can be notorious difficult to pin down. What fixes an issue for one group might cause some for other. ANet needs the crash details if they’re going to fix anything…not a lot of belly aching.

Hi, GW2 is crashing once I press ‘Play’ on the launcher, both 32 and 64 bit. I tried the ‘-repair’ and uninstalling / re-installing but neither have had any effect… Crash details below, please help!

Lol i know what you mean! The funny thing is, that i have i7 processor and 64bit os and 8gb ram..still not working, but i already don’t care, anet took my money(twice), but next time i will give it to other company^^

got crashes as well allthough I never had ones before HoT and after patch at 17 it increased again. I don’t think that it has something to do with the 64 client or our rigs. It is probably some bug at the coding that makes nearly the whole game unplayble even if you don’t play at HoT maps.

OK, i7, x64 OS, 8g RAM, presumably x64 client, but what error are you getting? What does the crash report say? What about the Windows Event log? Check both application and system events.

Still the same solution.
Turn down graphics to absolute minimum or
change your OS to 64bit and build more ram into your pc.

My Graphics are turned down to an absolute minimum. I will not change my OS to 64 bit, and the 64 bit clients are running into the same issue. I have played GW2 since release on this computer with one exception. I did change my video card months ago and that is not the issue.

I can play games with higher requirements on my system than the System Requirements of GW2 HoT.

If I compare my system to that system specs of “Can I run it”, my specs more than clear the benchmark for playing Guild Wars 2.

So for someone who does not work for ANet to comment is either trolling, or a busybody who actually does not know what he’s talking about.

1) Continue to crash and wait for some fix sometime in the future
or
2) Upgrade your system

It is your choice.
And please show me the posts of players using the 64bit client with at least 8 gb ram running into OOM crashes. I’m genuinely curious about that because most say that the crashes stopped completely and I personally have seen only one such post.
And in that case the log suggested that the error was caused by something else.

That is out of date and I’d be looking for it to change. You failed to post the footnote though…on the same page.

I don’t see a lot of people posting their crash reports, but I think many of the x64 crashes are more related to memory faults…bad memory. I’ve seen several people post errors similar to this, “Memory at address 00000228`201d0390 could not be read”.

Nice specs, but what does the crash report say? Windows events? You are running the x64 client? All that memory is useless with the x86 client. Things that can actually help ANet, and those on the forms help you.

I never crashed before HOT. I have turned down graphics to where there is nothing but titles running around. This worked until the 11/17 update, now I’m crashing often again. The game is UNPLAYABLE. And my machine is not a bare bones system, it is a Mac system as if that matters.

“Nice specs, but what does the crash report say? Windows events? "
You’re kidding right? I’m not a computer engineer and I don’t work for Anet.
Half the time I crash, it just crashes, no error report. The last time my machine crashed and rebooted itself, nice. The other half of the time, the error says a report was sent to ANet, so there should be something for devs to look at.

Since Hot came out I crashed maybe 3 times in 2 weeks.
Since yesterday’s patch I’ve already crashed 6 times, all of them out of memory. Checking my process manager GW2 was hitting 3gigs of memory and over.
I did download the 64 bit client, but it doesn’t even launch. It white screens when loading character select.

Did some digging, since you provided zero information in both of your threads today, and came across your PC Build

That whole thread is very strange and,as one poster said,it seems “Trolly”. But I also suspect there’s a language barrier getting in the way.

- Intel Core i7 4960X CPU
- 32 GB 1866MHz Memory
- 4x SLI NVIDIA GTX 780 Ti 3GB
- Copper Pipe Liquid Cooling
- 240GB Corsair Neutron GTX SSD
- 2 TB 7200RPM Storage HDD
- ASUS rampage 4 extreme Chipset Motherboard
- 1200W Corsair AX1200i PSU
- Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer
- Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro

..seriously?

Anyway- There’s been many, many reports of crashes today. Just be patient and it will be fixed.

Edit: This is probably going to be a problem,at least for the foreseeable future. 32bit is running out of room as the game ages and updates.

Then there’s this post which is you begging for a free $50 game…when you easily have a PC that costs $5,000.

Something really seems off.

Double Edit: Then in this post , which was made a year before your “Gw2 is great” thread, you seem to have a bit more knowledge of computers. It was still technically wrong, but at least you knew the terms..

Very off,indeed.

one day has passed, and all we got is a new patch that only fixed trivial things (and on top of that, hot is out from like a month and i still couldn’t play it), and devs still refuse to even acknowledge this problem …and why they should? after all, to them, we’re just a minority of ppl who can’t/don’t want to buy a new shining pc (so we surely won’t buy gems). they already took our money for hot, and since we dared to complain about not being able to play it, and now they’re making the same to the whole game, so we’ll just leave the game and let them enjoy our bucks… this is what i call a SCAM! because, that’s what it is, they make u buy something that you think it’ll work (played beta for hours without any crash), and then when they get the bucks, poof, they just disappear! as a veteran player from gw1 i really didn’t expect this kind of attitude from you… being treated as trash that needs to be ignored

this post was merged from my own thread, sorry if the content no longer makes sense

Just making sure here, I’m sure that most people that had errors since the HoT release, like myself have been in contact with support. The problem is, if you are running a 32bit system this is a dead-end. Solutions are either standard copy-paste or try to upgrade. I’m working on upgrading my OS to 64bit myself, and I knew it would come to that in the end.

However, many users here seem to miss that the last patch DID make OOMs worse. Not just for 32bit users either. And they don’t seem to want to read that this is not while playing the new raids/ or fancy new maps, this is stuff that “worked”. Not as good as before HoT, but I was able to run around in Ascalon or Orr just fine. But not anymore.

Just stating its a 32bit problem shows that you haven’t been fully informed, and obviously haven’t properly read the OP (which was mine if you didn’t get that). I run at lowest settings, there is nothing running in the background that eats memory either (confirmed by tech&support).

As for MY error, it’s OOM, either this:

OOM: Heap, bytes=4266844 (with a whooping < 1min uptime)
or:
OOM: DxBuffer (type:static) (pool:9) (size:1215320) (with a nice 3 min uptime)

I won’t post the rest as support already knows about it and it’s purely a client issue at this point combined with my 32bit system. How it works for others that didn’t have issues before the 17th or people with 64bit systems, I don’t know, contact support. But something is obviously wrong here. The support people can’t exactly state it’s a client issue, but at this point it has to be clear even for them. I have had a nice reply from them and they are in fact trying to make the client compatible (again) for low-end systems (not quoting here). But it’s a long and complicated issue.

Something happened with the client with the HoT update, and something happened with the nov17th patch. This is just fact, deny it if you wish to be that guy. I mean the error reporter doesn’t even work properly anymore, that should say something, at least.

I am running a fairly new Alienware 18 with some pretty nice stats on it. I have had a few crashes today where it freezes up my entire system and I have to reboot. I do not get a BSOD or anything the desktop is there and I can start task master to try and stop the GW2 client through that but it simply says “not responding”. I then have to do a restart to get the GW2 client to stop and after restarting it plays again. The lengths of time from launch to freeze is never the same amount of time it is really random. I am going try downloading the 64 bit beta and see if this resolves it. If it does not I will be back to post one way or the other. I only crashed/froze 2 times in a 4 hour time span. I see so many people in my guild and in game crashing freezing as well so this is not something on the customers end . This is most certainly something client side.

Cool!
For everyone wondering, what this does is make your widows use 3Gb for applications instead of 2Gb (I googled it). It can also be undone (if needed) by using:
“bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa” (via the same process.)
Might have some merit, will surely give it a try today! Ty Ruki!
—-
I do like to stress one more time (since my own thread got merged cuz it got too big) that everyone saying ‘you should stop whining or update your system’, you are the worst. You are not helping anyone. If this is ‘the’ solution I hope that tomorrow they release a futuristic client that none of you fancy 64bit players can play and you all HAVE to update too, without prior warning of it going to happen…HA! Don’t be such a troll guys.

So, I did uninstall the client I had on the system and download the 64 bit Beta client and I played for 2 hours with no crash or freeze. I hope that is the end of it for me. It is sort of weird to me because, my system is 64 bit and a fairly new Alienware with 16gb ram and a geforce gtx 860 with 4 gb of video memory so it is really odd to me why it made a difference with the 64 bit client. If it starts crashing/freezing again I will come back and post again.

I posted a couple of pages ago with my issues and PC specs. I’m going to try the 64bit client soon but I’m feeling a bit wary about that. Currently, every time my GW2 client crashes when updating it doesn’t give me the option to send/save an error report. It just freezes and quits unexpectedly. As previously mentioned, I’ve followed instructions to find crash logs but there don’t seem to be any. Is there a way around this to get the error report/crash log so it’ll be easier for ANet? I’d like to know if this is a problem from the game or a hardware issue (with the 4GB RAM) as some players have mentioned. I’ve previously had no problems before my hiatus with the game on the same laptop so I’m not sure what’s happening.

From the command prompt…………….

bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa

To undo the changes if it messes up your PC.

(Always look for a way to undo it before you do it).

That’s probably because most people already send their crash log directly to ANet the moment the crash happens, so it wouldn’t make much sense to post them again here.

The thing is- almost each and everyone in this topic had none to few issues prior to the Nov. 17th patch and has massive issues post-patch. So chances are quite high that ANet messed something terribly up.

Considering how few people actually go to these forums and even less actually writing in here, coupled with the tremendous amount of rant ingame (map chat, friends, guildies), there’s definetly something wrong.
Assuming thousands of people suddenly having hardware issues with their RAM overnight is quite unlikely.

So what’s the point of this topic? People want to give themselves a voice, they want be heared and make sure that this issue won’t be overlooked, that their crash reports they mailed to ANet after each crash won’t end up in a queue but will get read asap.
And they expect somekind of statement, some information about what’s wrong and when it will be fixed (though I admit that this is very unlikely, we’re talking about ANet aka “let’s say nothing at all and hope it will get solved by some magic miracle unless the torches and pitchforks grow too many” after all…).

I did this last night, I managed to play a whole meta event without crashing, infact I didnt have a crash all evening, but come this today Im back to crashing after 5mins, everytime I log in and see another new build my heart sinks since each one makes the problem worse.

Ive logged onto my alt account, no HoT because why waste money on a game i already brought 3 times (twice on my main and buying an alt), it clear of crashes, no issue, can jump maps no problem, played in WvW no lag,

So anyone that is thinking of purchasing HoT or upgrading their account to HoT, I wouldnt unless you like crashing.
