I’m not doing anything repeatedly, crashes are completely random. Sometimes I’m just standing in town, sometimes in combat, other times standing alone staring at a wall typing.

I have recently installed Nvidia 314.07 drivers, it was crashing the same way on the 310.70 drivers, no change noticed.

I have no over heating issues. I have done clean, fresh install of drivers, both auto and manually. I have virus scanned several times with several programs, I have system cleaned and shut off all other programs except for windows services and other essentials. I don’t have any connection issues and my computer doesn’t over heat.

I’ve read a lot of people having this issue and I don’t see any answers, a lot of people trying different things, but it’s not working. It’s not the graphics card (my first thought) because people are having this issue on different chips, and some people with the same chips are not having it all.

Any help will be great, thanks.

-If any other info is needed I’m watching this closely and will respond ASAP.

Latest error message, have ran repair also BTW. Also if anyone is having similar issue please post here. I have found several topics posting about this but no answer. Someone posted not even 30 minutes on a new topic about this same issue. I have found some people mentioned turning back their CPU speed or rolling back Nvidia drivers to 306 works, I haven’t tried either yet. I also noticed most of these errors are popping up only for Nvidia users with my model and up (I have not found anyone with this error using an older Nvidia but that does not mean it doesn’t effect them)

Its not your problem, we will have to wait and see if ANet decides it will want to fix this problem. Which they most likely may not bother with mind you since they have their hands full trying to push out new content.

Id suggest just not playing or paying, go play something else until the next patch and try again.

Its plaguing me as well and i cant find anything wrong on my end so ive stopped and went on to WoT and gave them my money instead.

It seems this problem has been on going and happening on a variety of PCs, while at the same time others have no issues at all.

If you’re getting an error similar to the one I’ve posted, please post your system specs and the top part of the error like I’ve been doing.

But I’ve looked and looked, finding no answers at all. I’ve seen people posting about this exact same error code months ago, before the last patch.

All my hardware is functioning correctly.

Again, lowest graphics settings, did the suggestions on the FPS sticky page, which is just for FPS but I gave it a try anyway. Nothing seems to fix this and no one seems to care either..

I’m yet to find any postings or forums with any ‘offical’ support either, even on the postings months old. It’s a safe bet that if this is happening to you, you’re just screwed. no help, no patch, no fix.

Yeah, I can’t even get to the screen to change display settings without it crashing. It’s getting worse and worse. Worked flawlessly for about a month on my machine prior to about 48hrs ago.

I haven’t had a problem with the game until today’s update. Game is unplayable for me now, which sucks because now I can’t even do my daily and I was really close to getting my ascended necklace.

Then Anet brought out a new update and what happens. Crash! Crash! Crash! It doesn’t matter what I try the crashes are getting more frequent. Today I’ve had about 12. I tried all the fixes when I was running XP & nothing worked. I’ve tried with Win 8 & I’m thinking that probably I’d have to format & re-install everything. Anet doesn’t care cos they’re still getting people paying their money. The only way to make them take notice is to start posting the error reports on their FB page where everyone can see them.

You should do it, im pretty kitten already since i have sent tickets, and gotten back a generic reply that was of no use, and when i asked for further help from someone with better technical expertise, i did not get a reply for 3 days as of counting.

The WINMM.dll file appears to be the module that is crashing the game. It may be corrupt, infected or related to something that’s running in the background causing the crash.

You should start with a clean boot:

Another thing I noticed, is that you are using ridiculous amounts of memory. Unless you are doing some intensive video editing (or something) at the same time as gaming; something is wrong here:

I’ve sent in a support ticket with the info attached but I expect a generic auto bot copy paste answer that I’ve already tried and more. This game is stable on other systems, my friend has played for months without a single crash. I, however, rarely get to play for a straight hour without a crash, and more recently it’s between 5-20 minutes. One thing that was odd to me last night was the crashed I was getting when trying to teleport using waypoints, not every single time, not the same way point, entirely random non-sense crashing but it occured right at the moment I hit ‘accept’ or whatever it is to finalize the waypoint teleport.

Again I would like to state my hardware is fine, not overheating, lastest drivers, windows updates, cleaned memory ect ect ect, I’m experienced in this sort of thing. I was guessing that it may be incompatible hardware -but- this same error occurs to many different PCs with entirely different hardware.

Any help from support would be great. I see the forum on low FPS is getting a lot of hits, but people who can’t even play the game are not a priority it seems. The only thign I can think of at this point is wait for a patch, but some sort of notice or statement from staff explaining the reason behind the error I stated at the top would be nice.

I too have been plagued with constant BSODs since the patch. I’d been playing perfectly fine since August.
The BSOD’s mostly occur during the world events since the loot is now oh so phat and everyone is clamoring to them. I can’t do Claw, Shadow Behemoth, Maw, Megadestroyer, Teq, Shatterer, etc anymore.
What really sucks is when I’m doing those events and it’s all going fine and then the BSOD happens when the boss is at 5% HP. No chest for me.

In the meantime, I’ll be playing other games and checking back for a fix
I’ll try updating my drivers as well.

P.S. That error log came from a Maw event I crashed on during the portals.

I’ve shut down all back ground programs, my windows is fully up dated, drivers up to date again and working correctly. I’ve seen people ‘tuning down’ their CPU and some say it fixed the issue.

My CPU is Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz

I have it OCed slightly I’m going to try turning that off now..

I’ve had it happen in Dredge Fractal, just running around Orr, and one time just by zoning into Dredgehaunt Cliffs. (this is all post patch, it was working fine before)
Needless to say , it’s more or less killed my ambition to play this weekend. I still haven’t updated my display drivers (the other games I play are doing just fine and I think it’s a GW2 thing)
I’m wary of updating my drivers because the last time I did, it caused more harm than good and had to rollback. :/
Whenever I get around to wanting to play GW2 again, I’ll update the drivers and see what happens

Same here. At first it was only during World Events (very rarely), but now it is happening every 30 min.

I have NEVER had this issue with GW2 before the last update, and it is not an issue on my end since my connection is smooth and all my other games run perfectly.

I’ve been researching Nvidia driver issues a bit and looking at the logs everyone posts about these crashes. There appears to be some kind of bug (memory leak?) in the game client that doesn’t “like” certain Nvidia GTX graphics drivers.

If you want to try them, here are links to older Nvidia GTX drivers (think they only go up to GTX590). First link is for 32 bit Vista/7. Second link is for 64 bit Vista/7:

Well, decided to give it another shot tonight.
I updated my GTX 550Ti driver from 306.97 to 314.07 in hopes it’d help.
I ran GW2 and within 10 minutes got hit with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bsod, I haven’t seen that in a while. (I assume something went awry with the driver install)

So I just rolled back to 306.97 and decided to give Maw a try, and yes, it crashed after receiving my gold medal for Portal event. (so close to getting 1 for group event daily and of course, the chest )
I tried one more time and crashed on Colossus fractal at the Chest seal and said ‘screw it’

Meh, the most depressing fact is I’m 1 pristine relic away from 2 Ascended Cleric rings (which I’ve been patiently waiting for since they weren’t available at first, spose I’ll just have to wait a bit longer!)

I’ve already tried rolling back drivers. Didn’t help. Updating to most recent, didn’t help. It’s not on my end, I’m sure of that. All my computer settings have been reset to default/factory. I’ve done everything I can think of.

Post the top part of your crash log in a [spoiler] if this is happening to you.

My issue wasn’t zone or event specific. It happens randomly without rhyme or reason. It’s always the same bug, most of the time. Something about bones and children, idk. I’m not sure this is patch specific either. I was crashing before the last patch (rarely) but now it’s far more frequent.

Actually, I find that the Arenanet log file isn’t very helpful.

It may be easier to diagnose the crash by checking the Windows Event Viewer logs:

I’ve been plagued by constant crashing of the game since a few weeks (after one of the previous patches I think). Sometimes I could play for half an hour, sometimes no more than five minutes. The crashes usually (but not always) happened near the end of events with lots of participants. Restarting after a crash occasionally results in hanging on map loading.
I tried and checked everything on my end. Virusscans, repairs, driver updates, mem-test, reinstalls of both the game and my OS, moved game folder to different drives, etc. Nothing changed, crashes kept coming.

I finally turned all the graphic options down to their lowest settings and turned off what could be turned off. I haven’t had a crash since. A bit of a bummer having to resort to this measure to be able to play this otherwise stunningly beautiful game.

I’d like to add that I do not have this issue with any other games I play and again, that GW2 used to run exceptionally well on my computer up until one of the recent patches.

I’ll add my crash logs aswell in case they might prove useful.

I’m seeing the same thing in most of these logs. HUGE memory usage and a graphics driver crash (mostly with the Nvidia GTX560TI).

Looks like a memory leak to me.

and as always there is no communication of the devs whatsoever about this problem.

Even if it’d be only something like: w’e’re looking into a solution’ – Then we’d atleast know they’re working on a fix for the frequent crashing.

Almost every fractal group I get has one guy experiencing those crashes.

Just to let everyone know, it’s not just an Nvidia issue. I’m running all AMD and I get these intermittently.

I’ve also tried the “-repair” command with no success. I played for about half an hour, went AFK in Lion’s Arch (Fort Marriner) for about 10 minutes, and came back to the crash dialog.

Here are some things you may try.

-Turn off all over clocking
-Turn off all back ground programs and anti virus
-Make sure windows/drivers are up to date OR try using an older version of drivers (Rolling back drivers didnt work for me)
-Clean up your system, defrag, ect ect.
-Make sure your Nvidia settings are not customized via the Nvidia control panel
-Lower settings, cap screen refresh rate to 60

I’ve been messing with a lot of things, kinda lost track of everything I tried but that’s what I could off the top of my head. I just had a session for a few hours pvping and no crash at all. I’ve also read that SLI/Crossfire is having issues working with GW2. That’s all I know so far.

I found this in FAQ

“The most likely possibility is that your Gw2.dat file has somehow been corrupted, either in downloading the game or due to a crash. First, try re-downloading the file by renaming your current Gw2.dat to Gw2.old and running the launcher again. This will “backup” you’re file and allow you to download a new working copy.”

And i was hoping, so hoping… my client is somehow really sick.
Download rate is even slower than back in 90’s

So, im actually downloading new Gw2.dat file right? After 30 minutes its has downloaded 744KB right? Funny right?
I am not sure if there is answer somewhere, or we all are just being ignored.
Im sending errors, posting tickets… this is just not working this way.

After disabling my AV, trying out different DNS configs, reinstalling the game twice on other harddisks, clearing out a lot of startup programs, reinstalling different AMD drivers (with complete cleanup), testing different clockspeeds on gpu (also stock), checking my RAM, playing all other online games without a problem, I think it’s safe to say there must be something wrong with the game. I can’t play the game for 30 minutes anymore without D/C’ing (error code 7:11:3:189:101) or crashing (the c0000005 memory error, Engine\Gr\GrLuid.cpp(433) error, \Game\Main\MainCli.cpp(589) error).

No virus, no hardware issues, no overclocks or anything of that stuff. (Before people are saying this again)

Strange. I’ve just checked my update history and only see windows updates or Microsoft Security Essentials Database updates. Will try to reinstall audio drivers anyway
