I am having lag that can last up to 1-2 minutes and usually ends with a disconnect.

As others have said; I have only been experiencing this lag since the EoTM patch was instituted on tuesday.
Another day of delicious lag caused by the same joke companies in America.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in all MMOs.
Stop failing at PvE, and fix WvW/SPvP. Thank you.
I’ve also been seeing uncharacteristically high latency with my Verizon FIOS. I’m usually sub 100ms but am now locked at 250ms at all times.

I would like to make a suggestion to Arenanet/NCSoft around the EU issues people have been having around tinet. A workaround for this, considering it is impacting multiple ISP’s is for NCSoft to drop their peering link to Tinet, this will then force traffic to re-route through an alternative route. I feel NCSoft also should put some pressure on Tinet to fix their problems. The far end ISP’s will have less of an influence over them than NCSoft who are their last hop before the data centre.
Not able to play, as I am stuck on loading screen zoning into lions arch until a message comes up saying error wait as few minutes before restarting.. Done 5 to 7 times now

Support said I need to contact my ISP when this was brought up =(.
Also I’m not from EU, but for some reason my data is getting sent to france.
I have tried since this past Thursday to get the game playable again. As of right now, I can play the game for 5-10 minutes then get disconnected to the character select screen. It does not change with the time of day or amount of players.
In the past at times, it has been laggy on skills and movement, but was playable, I never disconnected and it did not last more than a week. This time it is not playable.
Ok, as a work around try to use a VPN connection.
http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn
then setup gw2.exe to use port 80 for all communication.
This will put this traffic through a tunnel that your ISP cannot see. And unless the ISP rate-Limits and controls PPTP/GRE-47 and OpenVPN Packets you shouldnt have many issues playing the game.
Note, this is NOT secure and should only be used as a work around until your ISP gets their issue fixed. DO NOT use the VPN for ANYTHING else other then GW2. I do not know who has access, or what they can see, at the end of the tunnel. So please keep that in mind.
I Suggest using a VPN tunnel that terminates into the US.

Just FYI. The Level3 hop 4.59.197.34 kept going down last night for a period of about 2-2.5hrs (at least before I went to bed, not sure if it continued after.) EVERYONE was having issues yesterday. This is why.
Individual cases still exist however.
But Level3 needs to upgrade from 80’s hardware and Dial-Up.
[edit] Just read about the massive DDoS that hit Level3… nice… that explains it.
(edited by Sir Kaboomski.1508)
The game continues to be unplayable due to the lag. Multiple traceroutes show the lag is on the Level3 network.

Is there anything I can do on my end to take care of this, or is it out of my hands, like I expect?
Half of my guild is now lagging.
All with Fastweb (IT) as provider, and all living in Italy.
I would really appreciate some kind of official statement to the fact that for a few days now so many people are suddenly getting throttled by different providers.
If it exists, could someboy please point me to it?

Nope, if you speak to them yourself both parties (ANet and ISP) will deny there is any problem and will try blaming the other.

I hope this helps somebody, I’m getting terrible lag for the past month or so.
The resource monitor is around 300ms ping+ and once in a blue moon i’ll get a steady 80ms ping.
Not sure what I should do. Call my ISP just for them to blame Anet and vice versa? :[

The issue seems to be related to tinet. why do I need to go through Europe for a Kansas → Texas connection!?
Anet needs better servers…peak times and at random times I lag so much yet my internet is fine.
ITS LEVEL3 GETTING DDOSED. IF YOU"RE ROUTED THROGH LEVEL3, YOU"RE kittenED
So lagging so bad on TC right now that I just watched the last 5 minutes of Shatterer pass without attacking once or seeing anyone else move. No disconnect yet but hideous lag.
Acrobatics trait line. Then sell it back

Agreed. Every night (peak time for me PST), DC after DC. Error 7s.

Its been 2 weeks since I’ve had a minimum of 260 ms of latency at all times of the day. Getting 30ms with World of Tanks. No other issues. I think this is the new normal.

Except for that this is not on Anet, its on one of the major ISPs that routes Backbone traffic….Level3.

Well at least now I know that I’m not crazy. I’ve felt pretty lagged for awhile, but most of my guildies have been saying it’s not a problem for them. (Except for the huge disconnects, obviously.)
I don’t suppose there’s anything I can do?

Since you have paths are are * and not resolving its hard to say if its your ISP or a path your ISP takes. Id call your ISP and get to an engineer and have them look at your tracert.

That’d be great… if I could get one on the phone. Uverse tried to shuffle me to their paid “premium support” folks instead. :-/

My packet loss is horrible. I hit a button and it will not respond at times for a solid 2 seconds. No fps drops or Latency drops. It just doesn;t respond.
After spending 3 hours arguing with representatives I finally got ATT (my internet company) to admit fault. So hopefully the 2nd technician can fix my problem. keeping my fingers crossed

Get this kitten under control. three nights in a row? Are you serious?
Why are you letting these script kiddies run circles around you anet?! Ugh…
Lag pikes long ping and disconnects confirmed is not my ISP
Cripes can’t even do anything. What’s going on?
I randomly keep hearing about the whole ddos thing. I really doubt it is even true. You are telling me no one on an entire server team, knows how to stop a group of teens that probably only have basic script knowledge? Has to be kitten. Whether it’s true or a cover up for dropping the ball severely, get it fixed. This game is already getting old for those of us that don’t do pve anyways, don’t make it even worse.
from what i understand from what i saw a month or two ago, the ddos is hitting at the isp lv b4 it even gets to where anet/ncsoft can do anything. the only ones that can do anything at that point is the isp that should be able to prevent something like this
What does anyone accomplish by that? Someone just chop off all the little script kiddies nuts and let’s be on with it.

Don’t you pay attention to the news? Frigging kitten . Trolling has been engaged in a major reflect and amplification DDOS attack on Cloudflare all week. I do wish they’d kitten off, though. I have better things to do than sit around with gamer blue balls.
can’t log in from bay area ca.

Then they are complete idiots. They won’t accomplish anything. They aren’t going to make money off of it. So then why waste resources doing something like this, unless of course, they are all basic script kiddies who can’t actually accomplish something worth while. Which is more of what i’m thinking. People are on payroll to deal with this, and they are getting ran around by some wanna be group. Hilarious.

I posted this in another thread, would be good for it to be here also:
A friend on my server posted a link about these DDoS attacks.

This article is a good read and really helps understand how these DDoS attacks on the world internet is happening.

It just cant be everyones ISP, ANet this is crunch time. Adjust and adapt or be overrun and left for dead.
fyi, lagging and disconnecting a lot!
Third night in a row I have been dropped to character selection screen and unable to connect to the log-in server. I am on the Blackgate server. Please find and block / ban / fix the issue with accessing guild wars.
Time I noticed it: 7:45 PST
Affected services: Guild Wars 2 Client, Guild Wars 2 wiki, Guild Wars 2 forum all load slow or not at all.

Just wait. One of the groups that you know, actually knows how to do more than DDOS. Is going to get tired of the kitten and make them look like complete scrubs. Can’t wait
This is just ridiculous, how does one get repeatedly attacked a whole week and not be able to combat these hackers… 2 days ago crash I can understand, but for the past 3 days the same crap? This is just incompetence at its best. The one time of night I play and have time to relax and I have to put up with this. Every night for 3 nights now. Really? Come on get it together…
The problem is that its not just NCsoft getting hit by these DDoS attacks. See the article I posted a bit farther up.
