Im lagging; Server Gandara

Henge of Denravi here and I’ve been experiencing a minimum of 1 second delay on using skills, looting, interacting etc. Happens in open world, WvWvW, and dungeons. Worst part is it’s happening everywhere regardless of how many players or activites are in the zone.

I am in the same boat. The lag makes things unplayable.

I tested a tunnel program and it temporary solve the problem with reaching the Dallas server. Hopefully my ticket will resolve this issue because the tunnel service isn’t free.

i submitted a ticket. they say that my connection is having bad packet loss and so is my problem and they cant fix it. but my isp feels its not their problem. also nothing has changed since i started playing this game. how did it suddenly become my networks fault suddenly when this problem started about a week ago?

before that i played the beta and head start without lag. ive had 90+ hours or game play without lag. same internet plan and isp. same computer hardware. i can play other games and stream videos from servers around the world without any problems.

if any of you know this tech. info, can you be willing to please help me out?

Server: Desolation

It’s really annoying. There wasn’t one day since launch where I and others didn’t have to handle lags between 1-3+ seconds!

I’m right now in a story mission by myself and have lags of 2-3 seconds!

Sometimes, I’m not even sure if it is because of lag, my skills don’t trigger at all, I don’t see the icon flashing like with usual lags until it triggers, it just blinks for the moment I push the button, but nothing happens!

This! is really nerve-racking and destroyes the hole experience every single time.
No matter if in PvE, sPvP or WvW… For a game with that combat system, it’s a no go!

There have already been times where I just quitted the game because of that!

I really love the game you have created, and even if their are problems in my opinion like event difficulty with many players or some usability stuff, but these lags are the worst part in general (You can’t run away from them!) and they make me really, really sad! :-(

Getting same lag symtoms as stated above. In PvE, PvP and WvW. Trying to download a fresh client install as we speak… hopefully that’ll help things along. But I’m not getting my hopes up tbh :/

Myself and some guild members are currently experiencing lag on Gandara. Logging in from Ireland, ISP is UPC.

Gunnar’s Hold also reporting in gameplay affecting high network latency. Delays on skills and NPC movement feels like 1-3 seconds.

EDIT: Getting worse now, delays in the range of 10 seconds and more.

Aaand the lag is back.

guys they wont do anything to fix this. cause they [devs/support] believe this is out network fault. like in my case they believe its due to packet loss n stuff. but my network didnt change. the server didnt change. i went from enjoying a lag free game to a game full of lag. and as all of you can see it started around at the same time. all of you are experiencing the same issue. yet they feel it is our own fault n problem to solve.

Playing on Gandara and have also been getting a lot of lag since last night. The game is more or less unplayable as it is now. Seen a lot of other players in chat experiencing the same issues.

Gunnar’s Hold is lagging at the moment.
From about 2 days ago, there have been extreme lag spikes, ranging from 10 seconds to a few minutes.
And no, it’s not a problem with my internet. I play League of Legends on around 100 MS and I played WoW with the same latency before quitting it to play Guild Wars 2.
The only thing that I’m able to do is crafting, leveling and exploring is pretty much impossible due to the lags.

Hi, I just bought GW2 2 days ago, and haven’t been able to play at all because of this lag.
I’ve looked at the forums and provided a Network Diag log.
I’d love to be able to play so hopefully this issue gets resolved.

Been playing GW2 since the BWE’s here.

Had no trouble with lag besides the huge lag we had on the first day of BWE1 until about a week ago.

Headstart was fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but as each game update has come out and as more players have joined the lag has been getting worse and worse, mine isn’t as bad as some people’s esperiences, but it is ruining the game to a degree.

Skill lag: – Only minor for me, but skills and dodges are taking at least 3 seconds now to happen, i can input a skill combo only for the enemy to already be dead by the time it gets about half way through, dodging is terrible at the moment because i’m taking alot of damage before i move, even though i pressed dodge in plenty of time.

Enemy phasing: A really annoying one is enemys seeiming to “Phase in” right ontop of me. this was particularly noticeable on the Charr scrapyard DE in Plains of Ashford, where the enemys would be running in and attacking, but i wouldn’t actually get to see them nor be able to attack them until they phased in properly, in the meanwhile i was taking damage from them as they attacked me.

Stuck in one spot: This one happens rarely, but my character becomes stuck in place, they can still use skills, talk and see other players moving, but i am unable to move, then about 2 mins after the DE has ended i will teleport to another part of the map, presumably where all my button presses during the DE eventually led to with me being unable to see the movement.

Mail sending lag: This is another rare one, but usually mail goes through in an instant, sometimes though, and it’s happened on more than one occasion, i will press “Send” and it will hang for about 40 seconds before finally going through.

Rubberbanding: This happens more to my friend than it does to me, but on occasion i’ve had sever rubberbanding, and quite often spend time chasing my friends “Ghost” as he will run to one place, but i will end up following a version of him that is responding to his input commands, so i will follow him in a certain direction only to then see him instantly appear somewhere else in the area, as his character that i could see wasn’t following the same path as he himself was taking, i’ve seen him run off a cliff and agro monsters, jumped down to save him, only for him to appear back up on the hill running in the opposite direction.

Random Disconnects: Occasionally i’ll be in the middle of a DE or just standing in town, when i will get kicked from the game and be unable to reconnect to the login server, or i will be in a DE and everything will stop, but i will still be able to move around, then after about a minute i will be booted from the game and again struggle to reconnect.

These issues have started becoming more and more common / severe as the days go by, i know Euro servers had alot of problems at the start, and i believe they are still having issues now, i know hacked player accounts are the top priority right now, but i’d like to see a statement from Arenanet that they are aware of the EU lag issues, because i’ve tried downloading things and also playing other games online and i am having none of these problems in any other game or with anything i download from other sites, which seems to suggest that the problem is somewhere on Arenanets end or in their server datacenters for Europe.

I am on Whiteside Ridge (EU) and play the game from the UK, I run the game on max settings, but even turning everything down to absolute lowest changes nothing.

I know and understand that Hacked players have priority, but even some kind of acknowledgement that your working on this would be a huge relief for us right now, because for a high action / reaction / skill based game like Guild Wars 2, it becomes very hard to play and have fun when you have a 3 second delay or late enemy phase in that gets you killed =/

Started to have network lag a few days ago, iam playing on Gunnars Hold. Sometimes i can play well, other times i experience constant delay on actions and when its really bad 5-10 seconds where everything freezes and then resumes. Hoping it gets fixed soon.

It seems, for now, that the lag issue has been resolved for me. I downloaded a fresh client for gw2, changed my wireless internet channel (so many wireless connections floating around here) and I moved my pc around for a few inches…
I played an hour to two hours with no lag. I’ll see if it holds or not.

Doubt it that it’s going to be your i-net connection mate.
Have you tried pinging some websites? (open cmd > type: “ping www.google.com”)
without the " ".
i think it’s going to b your rig, I’ve heard others with pretty beefy systems having the same issue as you. And it surprises me not having heard from A-net about it o.O

It think it’s the GPU not geared for gw2 specifically… it needs to be optimized. My guess keeping an eye out in topics concerning the same issue is the best idea atm.

Cursed Shore has been very lag at the moment , which has in turn glitched me into walls and up mountains through the floor ! what’s going on!

Fissure of Woe here. A lot of lag and from yesterday i can’t play for more than 10 secs cause game lost connection to it’s server.

Okay, here is my issue.

In WvW it happens sometimes that when big fights are occuring, I start experiencing heavy network lag.

I can see the action around me pretty clearly (even if only 15fps) but I cannot act. All my skills have a massive delay (from 2 seconds to 25 seconds, usually around 5/10sec) and I’m rubberbanding all over the place. Yet, I’m still able to see that guardian pop his bubble to push back a warrior stomping an ally, etc etc.

When this occurs, I die. Even if I manage to get in a safe spot (inside a keep), I keep taking damage until being dead. My allies cannot revive me soon after that as they don’t see my body where I see it (Ressurection automatically interrupted).

This doesn’t occur at each fight at all. I’ve been especially suffering from it today.

The Lag is still here… Cmon do something about it :s 6 days already, some ppl have been suffering from this for even longer.
It sucks that only affects a few amount of ppl, really weird..

Definitely suffering from network lag, here. For me it only started about 2 or 3 days ago, was blissful before that.
Now, though. I get a 5 or 6 second pause, every… well probably every 5 or 6 seconds! Occasionally, it last longer and I get disconnected.

I’ve checked all the network components my end and nothing seems to be wrong there. Tried a few speed/latency tests online and they haven’t flagged anything up either.

Same for me on Ruins of Surmia.
Every few minutes I get these lags for a few seconds.
Could someone please look into this?
Should I open a support ticket too?

FPS is not lag… it is unrelated.

The thread here is about the connection between the user and the server. Most of the time Anet can’t do much about it but open tickets to the datacenter which controls all the network routing just like your router. The middle man is having issues.

Alternative, I use proxy or other VPN service to reroute into another network datacenter (like take another highway instead of jam stuck on traffic one.)

Everything was working great before most recent patch.

Now the client loses connection to the server every 3-4 minuets. The game will run smoothly for a bit and then just drop me.

No lag, just being dropped. Constantly.

I’ve tried all the graphic card updates and things suggested on the gw2 forums. I don’t know why that would be an issue though since it worked fine before.

When the connection stops sometimes it will come back, sometimes it won’t. If I jump back to character select screen and back in game it works smoothly for a while then everything is dropped again.

I wouldn’t imagine it is a connectivity issue on my end other wise any of my other online games would most likely be showing something similar too.

Going to try installing the client from the web instead of the CD and see if anything different happens.

Most of the time i have very bad lag & rubberbanding. Sometimes its fine at events with 50 people, sometimes i lag solo with no other human in visible range.
Very sad. Since i just recently entered high-level areas where i really have to concentrate in some fights, its utterly impossible and majorly disappointing.

gunner’s hold on the european’s servers, mainly pvping, since the official launch, lags spikes, on and off during the day.
my location, mainly 60-75ping to european, Israel, got an almost perfect connection, never had issues with online games (even fps..).
heard the problem is.. that the servers arent located in europe.

Very laggy today, Mob and myself Rubber banding all over the place. It got worse and worse over the day and now it is unplayable.

I’m getting CRAZY lag on CoF runs, like 2-5 second lag spikes with 2dcs last run. Totally unplayable for me. Never had this problem before until today. I play on Vabbi and live in the UK

laggy today, on gunner’s hold. Went to fight the dragon..tried to spam spells for like 3 minutes at him, got thrown around sometimes, he died…got no contribution, no chest, no nothing. only then did my char start to cast the spells i had clicked before…wtf! crazy lag

Piken Square Server, connecting from Germany. Bad lag and disconnection issues tonight.

same problem on EU server Abbadons Mouth, mainly n * x seconds lag with with up to ca. 30 seconds total duration, sometimes err=7 crash. Any kind of PvP is unplayable like this (or better is kinda lottery). And it was not like this in beta and the first time after launch. Something changed in between. Lucky, that i did not bought any stuff in the ingame-store …

Server Gandara, frequent lags and ability delay.

Just started last night, getting about 1-2 sec ability lag, not enough to make playing impossible but is very annoying. My fps never drop below 80fps. I tried a few other online games and latency is between 30-60ms. Wish there was a way to see in game latency so i know if that is the problem or not.

Sorrows furnace is the server.

I, too, am getting problems with delay when using skills or interacting with npcs/resource nodes, etc. My game ran fine until two days ago. However, the problem does seem to disappear later in the day (usually around 6pm GMT).

Getting some pretty bad lag during the morning (7ish) and afternoon (2ish) EST, Delay in skills, jumping ect, I can see other people playing and using skills but for some reason I cannot

Almost two weeks now, and still lagging like no body’s business – and no response or help from anet, wooo. Yes, I’ve checked, tried, forwarded ports, talked to ISP and all of that. It isn’t an issue on my side. Jumping around servers, both EU and US, tends to alleviate the problem just a bit, but the game is still mostly unplayable during peak hours. So at the moment, I am pretty much forced to play only at the middle of the night, and the very early morning, and the game still doesn’t run as smoothly as expected.

Server; Piken Square (EU) AND Tarnished Coast (US), playing from Israel / Middle East.

I’m having lags/disconnects too, mostly in SPvP and PVE. SPvP is unplayable for me atm. WvW works fine though. Server is Drakkar Lake, I’m playing from Germany, ISP is Telekom.

Also most of my Lags seem to happen only on the receiving end; last night we were doing some explore-modes and I got serious lags, until the point where everything was standing still for me.
However, I was told that I wasn’t lagging for the others. So i tested that and I could actually play blindly for maybe 1 min until the disconnect.

The first time I got these lags I though that the problem is caused on my end, so I checked the most obvious things like firewall/router settings etc., but everything seems to be fine.
I pretty much didn’t change anything on my system since bwe 2-3, where I had no such problems.

Its definitely a Game problem, not on our end, since many of us are experiencing this lag → total packets freezing → disconnection from the server

I sent a ticket too but i noticed now this topic, so i guess it will take some time before it get fixed :\ hope not too much cause being in a WvW queue for 20 min, then getting in for 10 min and crashing and then have to queue for another 20 min….. isnt funny at all.

Terrible lag here in Germany (Server Desolation) especially from 7pm to 10pm. Getting disconnected from time to time. It started aproximately 1 or 2 weeks ago. The weeks before that were fine.

Today I’ve lagged like never before, and I thought it was unplayable two weeks ago. I can’t see myself continuing to play with the current state of the game, but unfortunately threatening with leaving the game doesn’t have as much pull when there’s no subscription fee, is there? It went from being unplayable in the morning to being literally unreachable now, as I disconnect before going even past the loading screen, more often than not with no error whatsoever. When I do get it, I can talk in guild chat for a moment or two, and do absolutely nothing in the game world itself, before being booted.
