Why does Email Auth hate dynamic IP
Eventually, the authentication learns the range of dynamic IP addresses, and will stop sending the emails. Though, rather it sends too many, than not enough.
I’d rather it just kittening WORK.
It does work. My point was, that security is more important than convenience. It will eventually learn the range.
I don’t receive any emails with it. That’s my issue with it.
Ahh, that wasn’t clear in the first post. Did you previously have Mobile Authentication or email authentication with another address?
Maybe there is a miscommunication here. If you previously had been sent emails about authentication, and they eventually stopped, it is because the system has learned the accepted range of IP addresses. If you visited a friend, with a different IP address, you would be sent an email again. Again, once learned, whether they are static or dynamic, the email authentication stops sending mails about addresses you have accepted.

Every single email regarding guild wars 2 that was not sent by an actual person (GW2 support for example) stopped being sent when my IP changed a month ago.
Ok. This may be helpful, and if not, you would need to contact CS.
Make sure to white-list all shown possibilities. =)
Good luck.
So far none of it appears to be working.
Which mails are you not receiving? If it is email authentications, and you are not traveling, how are you determining you are not receiving them? You did say you received them at your friend’s house. Remember, you won’t receive them if the system feels it already knows the IP address.
Regardless, if you feel you continue to have issue with it, you can contact CS.
I know I’m not receiving them because I try the email sender to change my password as a basis to test and it does not show. None come through even after adding the addresses to whitelisting if whatever I did is it which was adding filters to inbox, contacts, etc. If I send in a ticket, I just receive the confirmation that it was received. Or when they respond. I receive it. I do not receive anything else.
It’s great you can correspond with CS. They would be the ones with which to discuss this.
Best of luck!
I did before… None of the things I tried worked. I even went to get in contact with yahoo support, my ISP on two different fronts, the whole nine yards. I guess I’ll just take my 50 lbs gaming computer (ow my back
) to my friend’s house and get it going finally (as well as hang out with him because hauling this much hardware is not worth it without visiting xD)
Well, since Yahoo is known to have issues with email and GW2, you might consider changing your Account Name (email address associated with GW2) to a non-Yahoo (or any of the other problematic email providers) address.
Good luck, either way. =)
I’m confused as how you can log in here if you are not getting the emails and are getting “waiting for authentication” dialog…..both this site and the game use the SAME credential verification process when you log into them.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
