buy.guildwars2.com, again!
Press F12 and capture the network traffic to see what’s it doing. The buy page specifically doesn’t require a referrer, at least up to the transaction confirmation.
To be less paranoid on your referrers, use network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy = 1 (rather than simply disabling it with network.http.sendRefererHeader)

I thought it is for
0 (default) to send the full URL
1 to send the URL without its query string
2 to only send the scheme, host and port
not disabling referrer for cross domain?
I have the same problem with Firefox, I cannot open the buy page. The same error. I have not changed networking settings in Firefox so it should be standard. I restarted Firefox in safe mode to disable any add-on that could interfere but still can’t access the buy page. So no buying the expansion for me until this is solved.
I can not open buy page on firefox or chrome

That’s the trimming policies.
network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy is:
0 is always send
1 is only if the base matches (*.guildwars2.com)
2 requires a full match (forum-en.guildwars2.com)

If you cannot purchase…
Please post the details here.
However, if you see this message: “Unfortunately an error has occurred. Please try again later!” we’d like to ask you to contact Customer Support and they will look into the matter.
Basically, if it’s an Error Code 500 or 504, we’re on the case, and those have been (we believe) fully addresssed. But the specific message above points to a topic worth discussing with CS.

I can’t even access the buy.gw2 page in Firefox it gives me this error:
The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
And it has been doing that even before the pre-purchase announcement. It works fine in Safari though.
Still getting that error.

I still get the same error as OP posted (but in Dutch) on Firefox. Pasting http://81.21.151.214/store/gw2/en_IE/html/pbPage.pathoffire/themeID.4785548100 directly in the address bar opens the buy page. A few clicks later Firefox throws an error because the certificate is not valid for https://81.21.151.214 (only valid for buy.guildwars2.com). That last error makes sense.
So for me nothing is solved.
edit: I did restart Firefox without addons, so it should be the vanilla experience. I never had this issue with any other site. I did log on to my profile for another game that uses a redirect without a problem today (using Steam to identify on a third party game site). I think this is a specific GW2 issue.

Aye, still receiving the following error message, too:

EDIT: Okay then! I was able to purchase in game with no issue.

Here is the request and response headers from firefox.
The page keep redirecting with header response 302 to same url and obviously will redirect again and again.
The only difference between each response header is Thread ID meaning another thread picks up the request (Either there is No keep alive or thread crashes)
Had to remove some of headers from last requests (replaced by "...") to fit it in 6000 post limit
Also note that, this happens in all firefox versions between 47 to 52

I am getting an error when using chrome saying i was redirected too many times, but using microsoft edge is working.
I was able to “purchase” the expansion in the gem store (I wait with buying until the preview weekend in 10 days). I didn’t bought it but was able to get to the confirmation page in the gem store. So that is an alternative for the website that seems to work.
Using this in Chrome, and getting “too many redirects” regardless of anything else I try.
I need to whitelist the site in the Disconnect extension to make that page to work. I imagine similar extensions in Chrome will cause similar issues.
RIP City of Heroes
also getting this error, too many redirects in chrome.
I use Firefox and I keep on getting the message “This website is not redirecting properly”. BUT I used the links that Rose Solane provided earlier.
Firefox gave me a security issue message, however when I added an exception to load the blocked off site it just displayed an 404 error 0.o
This website exist or not?? :/ Is this some kind of hacking again?
What the hell is going on?
FURTHER INVESTIGATION:
the site http://81.21.151.214/store/gw2/en_IE/html/pbPage.pathoffire/themeID.4785548100 worked… somehow…
But I think it’s a bit confusing that clicking on a game option picture does not send us to a site and we need to click the “BUY” button that is lower, instead.
So, it works, but it depends on the link. I also think this may be an issue on ANet end… but I have no idea, really :d

I can’t even access the buy.gw2 page in Firefox it gives me this error:

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
And it has been doing that even before the pre-purchase announcement. It works fine in Safari though.
Still getting this error via Firefox. When I open it in a private window to block cookies and such I get a busted up page see attached image below, turned off ad blocker same thing. I think Anet management really needs to have a serious meeting with their web developers. This is not a good thing for such a big day that should be generating easy sales. I know there are work arounds such as using a different browser, or buying in game but customers shouldn’t have to fiddle with such things to buy your product.

I always get this error. (More than a year at least) Using Firefox and I allowed cookies + javascript on guildwars2.com, buy.guildwars2.com and digitalriver.com.
However, I bought the expansion from the in-game store which works fine. (Still waiting for the gems to arrive tho)
^ Gems take up to 72 hours to arrive.
Website is working for me right now, I think the problem is solved.
It would be great if Anet could tell us if it was users who managed to break the site or a deploying new content glitch. I never liked JSP for web pages, too troublesome!
For me buy page still doesn’t open in Firefox 54.0.1, same infinite redirect error. In Chrome it works fine. Tried with forum login and without. Also tried to clear cookies and disable browser addons. Country – Ukraine, browser language – russian.
(edited by Eley.1907)
Same problem here. Redirect loop on Firefox, most recent version. Edge / IE 11 report issues with the certificate.
The Buy Now page show up as just text for me with no way to actually purchase the game. It is the same on Firefox 54.0.1 (64-bit), Chrome 60.0.3112.78 (64-bit), Edge 40.15063.0.0 and IE 11.483.15063.0.
Good luck on the fix, I will just have to purchase the expansion later, looking forward to it.

Try:
http://buy.guildwars2.com/store/gw2/en_IE/html/pbPage.pathoffire/themeID.4785548100
Does it work? No? Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter the following:
ping buy.guildwars2.com
Is the IP 81.21.151.214? Yes? ArenaNet has a configuration problem. No? What is it?
I can chime in here to hopefully address a few of these issues. First of all, the redirect issue is known and currently being worked on. It should (in theory) be possible to resolve it by clearing your browser’s cache (cookies and browsing data) and then reloading the buy site (you might have to hard-refresh the page using CTRL+F5), however it sounds like that hasn’t quite solved the problem for some users so we’re trying to dig further into why that might be.

I’ve been able to reproduce this in a private Firefox window, but nowhere else (as another user mentioned it occurring in Chrome and Edge as well). Firefox is extra aggressive with its tracking protection and it blocks a lot of scripts loaded across domains by default in private windows, which is interfering with content loaded by our payment provider. Private windows in both Edge and Chrome seem to allow everything to load fine with the browser default settings, so I would hazard a guess that an extension like Disconnect or an Adblocker is interfering here somehow (uBlock Origin doesn’t seem to be causing problems as far as I can tell, but ymmv depending on what filter lists you’re using and how aggressively you’re blocking). I know it’s not a good answer in this situation, but for the time being the best solution will probably be to not use a private window.
^ Thanks for the update. I only tried the private window to see if it would fix the redirect problem generated using normal Firefox. So I thought I’d share what happens when I do that to help you all troubleshoot.
As for extensions, the only one I use is uBlock and I tried completely disabling it and still get the redirect error using a normal window and the same broken page in private.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I had this error too, but it did not happen when i used IE.
So if desperate, you can try that browser.
Ok, just checked on that “too many redirects” issue, and we heard that while some of the situation has been corrected, they’re still working on other components, and they hope to have this fully nailed down very soon.
