I’m at a lose, I was hoping the port 80 switch would work for you. I am not sure as to why it isn’t.

No effect.

It would fix a problem if port 6112 was blocked by the firewall, but otherwise it doesn’t make any difference.

As far as I can see GW2 isn’t initiating TCP connections properly. It works fine once it starts loading the map, but most of the time it never gets that far.

ok what i did to play the game ( solved accidentialy i dont know wich solutions is good)
1. Unistalling Avast antyvirus and AVG toolbar
2. in charater select put all graphic options to lowest(i had ultra)
3.restart rooters/computers
4.install all updates
5. unistall bittorrent
6. put off ISS server emulator(if u are developer of microsoft thigs u will know )
7. take off your pants take beer and watch some football(work for me too)

Finally found the problem – network admins had been blocking certain types of packets. Solved with an encrypted VPN.

As I suspected, it was a configuration problem, not packet loss. I think I’ll leave NCSoft support to handle simple problems that involve data entry at most.

If you keep on having trouble after configuring AVG you may want to try the port 80 switch. I would try it without the switch and see if configuring AVG fixes the problem first.

Running the client on port 80 may help alleviate the issue also.

1) Navigate to theGW2 directory normaly located at “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\” or “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\”
2) R-Click “Gw2.EXE” then select Send To>Desktop (create shortcut)
3) One your Desktop R-Click the “Gw2 – shortcut” and Rename it to “Gw2 – Port 80”
4) R-Click the “Gw2 – Port 80” shortcut and select Properties
5) In the tagert line, all the way to the right after the quotation mark add a space then type the following: -clientport 80
Example: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -clientport 80
Example 2: “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\” -clientport 80
6) Click Apply then OK
7) Try running the game

This worked for me,

I tried the port 80 fix and it doesn’t work for me. I get kicked every time I attempt to say anything without fail. It doesn’t happen when I move around or kill something, but the moment I attempt to talk with my guild or whoever my game dies.

tried the port 80 fix, and it pretty much made no difference. I’m still getting repeated random disconnects despite resetting my router and trying a few other fixes, including changing my DNS settings.

This problem is getting rather ridiculous, I’d like to see an Anet dev at least come out with a potential fix that people can try. We’ve given them plenty of information, network logs, tests on potential fixes, it’s time that they take an active part in what is becoming a major problem.

I am seriously regretting paying £42.99p (only got it yesterday) for a game that worked for 5 minutes then dc’s every few minutes, I have checked everything my end, no problems running anything else such as WoW or GW1 plus many other online games, I have tried all the fixes posted on this thread plus a few pointers from friends who play, still nothing, what makes it worse is there is very little correspondence from anyone who is supposed to help players/customers, and/or fix these problems so people don’t just quit playing all together, it’s very frustrating.

This is becoming infuriating! Has anyone found a fix for this yet? Someone above posted that an encrypted VPN solved the issue. I don’t see why I should have to do this to play this and only this game, as everything else works fine, but at this point I’m willing to try anything since Arena admin is apparently just going to sit on their hands and make unhelpful statements in the thread like “send a support ticket”. Funny, I’ve sent about half a dozen, and my wife has sent probably a dozen as her problem started months earlier than mine. Neither of has a received a single response. They also seem intent on pushing it to our side. Yet, all the evidence seems to point to them (e.g. ANY other application or game runs fine, one person on the same network having the issue and the other not, issues occurring immediately after patches, etc.). FIX…THIS, hire someone who can, or refund your clients for the money they’ve put into the game. Great game, but it doesn’t matter how great it is if you can’t even play it.

Here is what’s odd. I have 3 people in my house, all playing the same game.

1. Can play with no issue
2. Randomly disconnects
3. Disconnects, but not as much

So, player 2 has been a major concern this weekend. EVERY time player 2 goes to Divinity’s Reach or Malchors Leap it’s either instant disconnect or within 5 minutes.

Other zones?… can play for hours.

Player 1 joined player 2 in Malchor’s Leap Sunday morning…non-prime time and each kept disconnecting either instantly or within 5 minutes.

Player 3 finally quit and is playing something else now out of frustration.

What seems CLEAR to me, is that specific zones are the issue.

I have not tried the port 80 fix…but, WTF…I mean, why can we play EVERYWHERE else fine (and I can play almost ANYWHERE with zero disconnects), yet, when we either solo or play together in Malchor’s, we get kicked?

Clearly server related…and Anet needs to stop blaming PC’s for this.

Hope this gets resolved…SOON.

I did everything UserX.8217 suggested except I typed this instead after the target name:
/clientport 80, this solved the error 7 problem for me and I was able to play all day yesterday. Guys give it a try and let me know.

I’m having the same problem as everyone here, bought the game about a week ago now and am regretting it, I’ve tried all the fixes people and AN staff have suggested and nothing works, it’s getting stupid.

This post is at least 8 months old, I would have hoped this would have been sorted by now. At least a few people I know that play GW2 have had the same problem and have contacted their service provider as suggested by AN but there is no problem.

It seems that AN are burying their heads in the sand with this one, they keep blaming people’s internet and pc’s etc, not taking responsibility for an error on their part which is disappointing really, I never had any problems with GW1 and thought that GW2 would be the same…. obviously not.

This is what fixed the code 7 issue for me way back in october..
Create a shortcut for guild wars 2, under properties you have a box called “Target” or “goal” or something similiar, it should be pointing towards your GW2.exe file.
Change this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe”
To this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\GW2\Gw2.exe” /clientport 80

So simply add /clientport 80 at the end, best of luck!

This actually does work! I was having the error 7 issue for months and after trying this there has been no issue for the past few days now.

Yep, unplayable in WvW for the last week or so. The /clientport 80 changes nothing. Still long loading times, interaction lag and disconnects from the moment you enter any WvW map. It’s got worse over time – more and more people are having the problems.

I have this disconnect issue too. For me, it only seems to happen when the server is busy, or during certain times of the day.
This past week, I’ve only had this issue once or twice. If this is your doing Anet, thank you.

For those that still have the issue, when you notice the disconnects starting, just take a break and come back later. The disconnects happen in spurts, and you definitely don’t wanna play through the spurt now do you?

If this only happened to one person , its ok if the GW2 staff didnt care , but are they doing something to solve the problem? As you can see , there’s 22 pages of this post of people saying they keep getting this annoying message.I think I speak in behalf of everyone if I ask them to tell us if they are trying to fix it with some kind of update or just ignoring.

Oke i seem to have fixed my problem.

I just bought a 40 euro USB wifi stick.. my internet now runs 100 times smoother (not faster) with everything and i just played GW2 for about 5 hours on a sunday wich is peak day without any dc’s.

I went from a Belking 100N to a Sitecom 600N wich has a dual band wireless connection with my router..

I know you guys dont wanna spend another 40 euro’s just to play a game but trust me it enhances all your game and download experiences.

When i called my ISP earlier they told me to look at my router settings and look at the usage of device’s on my router and my phone was using 5 times the amount of internet that my computer took while playing TERA: Rising.

because I experience lots of lag, 10 to 15 second lag, and/or I’ll get kicked off to the character selection screen or even kicked so far back I’d have to log back in only to find my character’s corpse or there in a spot very far away from when the lag started

I’ll be in a zone that isn’t crowded, nor has hardly any players or NPCs around too
I’ve had my graphical settings the lowest settings possible and still this happens,and it’s not my connection because I’ll be playing with my boyfriend right next to me and his laptop will run the game perfectly

this is just getting worse and worse, honestly at this point this game is completely unplayable

I experienced this when first month when this game launched so that’s understandable, bugs etc are expected but its over half a year later, what are these issues coming back, i don’t understand

With all the current concerns afflicting players wanting to continue to play GW2, what was once playable prior to these latest patches is now virtually impossible. I fixed my connection issue. I’m using a wireless connection, and when I first started playing, I was using a very weak signal (3/5 bars).

I just moved my PC closer to my router and I have full five bars, which gives me a stronger signal. Since then, I have been playing with no disconnects.

I guess GW2 requires a strong connection? I played The Secret World and Smite using just a weak wireless signal and did not go through any connection issues with either game.

I have this problem intermittently too. Usually while I’m in a dungeon….sometimes while out in the open world. It’s happened in TA, AC, CM, Fractals and Super Adventure Box (thankfully I hadn’t gotten far as I was doing tribulation mode).

It is frustrating, so very frustrating. My husband and I play together and my game completely freezes & crashes and he’s still there waiting for me. If it was an ISP/Router problem I’d think he’d get dropped too but it is just me.

Tried the Port 80 thing and I still get dropped here and there.

In past hour I had dozen disconnects, its like disconnecting you every 5 to 10 minutes. Playing on Underworld EU: Cursed Shore, Lions Arch, Black Citadel, does not matter where I am, still disconnects me after xx minutes.

I’ve been plagued by this since Clockwork Chaos started. Before that, I didn’t encounter this problem at all, and I’ve been playing since release. I even posted about it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/speech/Client-DCing-since-Clockwork-Chaos-update/first#post2705265. Doing what Delvoire.8930 said worked to some extent. I have since been able to get in.

But for for NOW, the problem rears its ugly head again. :-(

What’s interesting is that it currently affects only 1 of my toons: the 1 one in Lion’s Arch. I can actually log onto my 2 other toons, both of whom are currently in Divinity’s Reach. I’ve tried the /clientport 80 fix and it made no difference.

A few days ago, the last time I logged on, I was able to access all my toons, including the one in LA.

Please, please, please figure this out ASAP, ANET.

Also, if this has something to do with the removal of culling, I’d just rather have it back. Going for the lowest culling adjustments is just depressing. GW2 is a visually rich game, so it’s really sad to have to use the lowest settings and see everyone wearing the same armor, the same colors and with their faces blacked out.
