I run this game at around 50 fps, once in a while it dips to 35-40 fps when alot of people are on screen.

This on an i7 3820/GTX 580

Its still very playable, I just wish I could lock the fps at 30 so I don’t notice the slowdown. Going from 50-60fps down to 35-40 fps is harsh on the eyes.

Under video options, there’s a framelimiter for 30 and 60 fps.

Really O-o I must of missed it.

What on earth did you do in your last update to cause this?

@developers of GW2:

maybe keep an eye on the problems noted at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=26558 ? (The winehq tracker for GW2), There seems to be a variety of issues on linux that I can see clearly would affect every other OS as well.

I have only recently started having problems, can’t get above 15fps while doing nothing in an empty zone standing still, no matter how many settings I tune down, turn off or otherwise try and minimize.

I am very aware that my computer is by no means the best in the world, but I would expect a bit more out of it, especially as this was advertised to be played on a range of gaming rigs.

Attached is the DxDiag, I assume this has everything on it that I could try telling you and mess up so I will leave it there.

This problem has occurred since the game has been released, and in previous beta weekends. On any setting including best performance, best appearance, and auto detect, the fps is still 10-25. This is a problem that i have tried many times to fix. I have a Radeon HD 6700 series, and the latest graphics drivers. I have never had a problem with this card before and i don’t understand why it is having issues now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I’m probably the “rare user” whose running GW2 on below minium system requirement. The beta was not too enjoyable(5-10) but after the released day the fps was better(10-30) and in playable state IMO (I’m able to level five lv20+ characters without any problem) but after today’s patch the FPS went back to 5-10 again and become difficult to join any event when lots players shows up in the area.

I have had terrible terrible nearly unplayable FPS the entire time. I get 15-16 FPS maximum, typically it’s around 10-12 when I am out in the main zones/areas of the game. Crowded places like Lion’s Arch or events where tons of things are happening/dungeons I get 5 FPS or under. I pre-purchased prior to BWE2 and the game ran excellently for me during BWE2. BWE3 it started having these FPS issues but I thought it would be cleared up by launch since I had a great experience before that. From the headstart till now I have still had these FPS issues.

Naturally I have put up with it anyways because this game really is fantastic but I would really love it if I could get more FPS. My computer (which is a laptop btw) is well above the minimum requirements as far as I can tell and I would honestly be happy even if I could double my FPS to reliably be around 30. Right now this is below-N64 quality of frame rate and that really sucks to deal with on a PC, especially one I have run recent games like Batman Arkham City and Skyrim with high FPS. I hope you guys resolve this as soon as possible, it’s really depressing when I watch my friends play the game with 60 FPS and it runs so fluid and I get slideshow mode.

Oh, and I have tried all of the graphical settings. Almost none of them have made any difference in frame rate. The ones that do only change it by 1 or 2 FPS…enough where I think it is probably negligible. I have been playing with shadows, reflections, etc. on lowest possible settings anyways though.

I have the same problems, using Vista 32bit and a GTX460 (Core2 Quad CPU, 3GB ram) wity the latest WHQL drivers (301.42).
Upgraded to the 304.79 beta drivers didn’t change anything.

Yesterday I did a clean install of Vista on an empty HD. Latest mobo/lan/audio drivers, NVidia driver 304.79, then SP1 and SP2 for vista, and Firefox and GW2.
No specific drivers for mouse or keyboard, no antivirus.
First crash was after some 5 minutes of playing. :-( After that it was back to normal, about 30 minutes of normal playing, then crashing when using map-travel or a portal.
(hard-drive erased because it didnt fix the problem, unfortunately I did not save the error report of it)
What I did notice, with both the old and new install, is that the colors turn more yellow and light-blue before crashing, most notable in the background when you open your bank. Tried to take a screenshot, but that makes GW2 crash.

After the crash, pc takes a while to recover. Desktop background is black, firefox and thunderbird take ages to start up, I even have to wait when I want to look at the content of the hd’s. (the arenanet.log file says “out of memory”) The same happened with the clean install of Vista.
During the BWE and the stress-test, I did not have those problems.

My specs as follows:
16 gig ram
i7-3610QM @ 2.3 or 3.1 GHZ (Turbo)
Nvidia 670m

The performance is very inconsistent. I can be fighting with 50 people and the fps can be at 50 fps. But staring at a blank wall my fps can drop to 25fps and goes back to 80fps. Also by using the MSI afterburner tool, I notice that my GPU usage is going up and down (from 25% to 90%) When GPU usage is at 25% the framerate gets terrible.

As this is a laptop I have done the following:
Made sure Laptop is plugged in.
Used high perfomance power settings.
Selected Nvidia display adapter as the main device and put the power settings to max performance.

I am using the beta driver 306.02 but there’s not much improvement. Please help the game does not seem to be using the GPU correctly. I have used Batman and etc.. and with the MSI afterburner tool the GPU usage ranges from 80-90% which is correct.

Guild Wars 2 (gw2.exe) also crashes/hangs on me about once an hour. Like others, it’s most often while porting or in Lion’s Arch. The game hangs with an audio loop but I am always able to kill it with Task Manager and relaunch it.

My ArenaNet log identifies the crash most often as Out of Memory. I compared my log with others that were due to Out of Memory and the following code dump was practically identical:

Hey guys – could you please post any crash reports and DxDiags using the spoiler tag? You can find the crash report located in your “Documents” folder. There should be a Guild Wars 2 folder within it and it will be called ArenaNet.log.

Here’s my crash report. Didn’t fit. Got an error. Message Body too long. Even for just one crash. Attached the full log file.

My crashes mostly happen when entering/exiting portals and in big fights involving lots of player and enemies. I have random crashes too after playing for a while.

Hope this helps you help me, and everyone else.

Seriously frusterating for your paying customers.

I’d like to add to my above post that while looking at other ArenaNet logs some users had Assertion errors which are different than the Out of Memory error. Some of the assertions seem to be resolution logic related such as:

Assertion: (m_dims.x == highResDims.x >> 1) && (m_dims.y == highResDims.y >> 1)

So those users may want to:

1. Try different resolutions or switch from windowed/non-windowed mode.
2. Run Guild Wars 2 with the -repair switch for archive validation (takes awhile).

btw: I also have nvidia GTX graphics card so it might really be that there is a little bug/problem with that specific type of card. I can just Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end the process and log in again, but it’s so annoying. I can’t wait to see this fixed.

Hey there! I had the game installed since 08/30 or 08/31, either or >< And just recently within the last 3 days, I’ve been experiencing the same problem. My graphics card is Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 and my system is 64-bit. My driver (which my game client suggested i should install after i updated it to the most current “non-beta” driver) is the 304.79 beta. Any known issues with this driver?

World of Warcraft running Good settings (on average, I’ve got some settings higher and some lower from recommended based on personal preference)
Diablo 3 on High detail
Skyrim around Medium settings (again on average, I fiddled with things a bit)

What strikes me as odd is that according to System Requirements Lab, my computer shouldn’t be able to run Skyrim at all.

Maybe GW2 runs solely off Dedicated Video Memory which I only have 256 MB of… I have 1523 MB of Total Available Graphics Memory. Not sure if that’s significant.

GW2 is using Havok Physics. It doesn’t matter what you switch Nvidia Physx to in NVCP, the physics itself will always be calculated off the CPU.

you would think that. However forcing physics on the gpu in the nvidia control panel dropped my cpus usage from 100% to ~50%.
I doubt changing that one thing in nvidia would have done this is if wasn’t related.

Since the first BWE i’ve had fps problems, and always had faith that ANet would sort it out. We are now launched and things are getting worse not better. Since the last patch especially I’ve been getting insane fps drops (to below 20) for no apparent reason. Fps is never consistent, anything large scale is a joke to try and play. I’m also now getting the ‘blue’ flickering and tearing and distortions. Along with guild emblems and character portrait flickers.

I get fps shutdowns when i pan the camera, sometimes even just walking into a zone obliterates my fps. Shadows on ultra is a huge no-no. The only way to get consistent fps is to put everything on the lowest possible settings… something that, given my computer specs, I find insulting.

Running:
i7-2600k
8gbram
windows 7 64bit
2xgtx 590

P.S> I’d like to submit a ticket about this, to work with someone from ANet on the issue so it can be resolved, but there seems to be no way to submit a ticket only a bug report.

I used MSI Afterburner to underclock my BFG 295 GTX’s memory clock and core clock by 200mhz each two days ago. I have yet to crash once since doing so. I still see some odd graphic quirks like the loading screen flashing black for a split second now and then.

I saw no change in GPU temperature and a slight maybe 5 fps drop. I even spent about 4 hours in WvWvW last night and it ran perfectly. so far this is the only work around that has made the game stop crashing for me.

Am i the only one who is really getting mad that there have been no ETA’s on a fix from either ANet or ATI?

I wouldn’t dare say I’m mad, since we’re actually getting replies from ANet reps themselves on this issue. You don’t find his kind of support from many gaming companies anymore. I’m quite the opposite; I’m pleased they’re simply working on it. And with all these DxDiag.txt’s, system information, screenshots, etc., they should be coming close to at least a possible solution.

Yes, we’re upset that the game hasn’t been optimized to its potential, and yes we’re tired of the poor fps us high-rig users are getting. But, as long as ANet continues to work on this problem, I’ll deal with the “playable” fps I’ve been getting. Patience is a virtue, and hopefully our patience (and complaints) are rewarded soon.

Last few days, after patches, game doesn’t work as well as before.EVen in last few beta weekends game worked a lot better than last few days.

Game works excellent in starting zones, but when I got to level 80, and started doing 3 last maps – especially Malchor’s Leap, it drops to 8 frames per second in some battles (Dwayna statue for example).

Usually this never happened before in huge battles, fps was constantly around 28, 29, while in other areas, dungeons etc. was around 50.

I am using auto-detect settings.

My specs are:

iMac 27 Intel i5 – 2400 3.2 ghz
Ati Radeon 6970m 1gb ram
8 gig ram
Playing via bootcamp.

Resolution : 2560×1440
Auto-detect settings – everything medium, except textures on high, and reflections and AA off.

Not having anything in the background, all processes turned off.

Thanks for checking this Arena Net.
