Did a clean install on my new SSD, fixed all my problems. Can load in and out instantly with no lag.
Very sad – either cannot log in at all today or once in cannot get off a single skill before error 7… I am on a European server and been trying all through the morning till now 2pm – surely cannot be a peak load issue?
Same as lots on here – tried everything suggested (bar full reinstall… TheodoreSMooth – do pls keep us up to date if you have actually found a way around that lasts…)
Posting to add my name to the list of people experiencing this issue. I was good to go for the first two days of the headstart, then periodic disconnects and error 7 every day since.
My girlfriend has zero issues running through the same network as I am, so I initially suspected that the problem was with my computer, even though I never have an issue with any other games or applications.
Port forwarding does not help. Resetting all of the various “things” does not help. Changing servers (went from Henge of Denravi – HEAVILY populated – to Erredon Terrace – medium population) does not help. I ran through all of the various troubleshooting steps and suggestions to no avail, so I started experimenting.
The one thing I have done that seems to function as a consistent workaround is to run some other application that streams data at the same time as the GW2 client.
I’m using Spotify to play some tunes while I play GW2, and I NEVER get disconnected while running this way. If I shut down Spotify, I am back to the disconnects in a matter of minutes.
It’s not ideal, but it does work for me, and may help alleviate some of the pains the rest of you are experiencing while waiting for an actual fix.
Hope it helps…
-Rummy
Hilarious. I’ll try the spotify workaround. Also, I receive these errors during peak-time and in the morning 11am PST, so I don’t think it’s throttling.
I just posted this on another thread. This has been happening for me about every 10 min since the Sep 18th patch. Before that, I was completely fine.
Is Anet even acknowledging this problem still? :/
Already posted here earlier about my problems with error code 7. Nothing works so far and its getting worse for me. So decided to submit a supportticket. Found this piece of text in the proces:
Are you seeing Error 7?
We are aware that players in Europe are encountering Error 7. Please keep trying. If you are able to get in, you may want to try switching maps to prevent the error from occurring again. We are currently working on a solution and hope to have it resolved soon.
Strange that they mention players in Europe only. Is nobody in America having these issues?
Really hope they come up with some information and better yet a fix!
Thank you, Kraktas, for posting that here. I got the vibe that was the case, but with so many posts to wade through I wasn’t quite sure just yet.
However, I’m only more bothered by that, too. Why did I have to wait for someone to write it here, rather than the staff? Either Anet were looking into it but for some simply ridiculous reason tried to hide or cover it up, or they weren’t looking into it at all. Either way, both of these options is absolutely unacceptable.
I can reproduce this issue on the fly. I have gone to several different zones and not experience this issue. It seems to only be affecting me when I go to Queensdale. If I go there, in less than 5 to 10 min, I am kicked to the character select screen with that error code.
Its actually much faster than that now probably within 5 min or less. I barely started a fight, froze and got kicked to the character select screen. There is no way this is a firewall port issue. If it were, it would be happening in other zones as well.
After several days of glorious lag free fun, as soon as I patched from 18th BAM. The problem has come back. Even worse than before!
I shouldn’t have to winsock and router reset EVERYTIME there’s a new bloody patch. Come on.

im having the exact same problem in the underworld sever. mostly in weekends between 19:00 to 00:00 PM local time (i live in israel) i simply cant get the game working.
im entering the game and can run around freely but no one moves and i cant activate skills and after few minutes it sends me back to the log in screen with error 7.
btw im lvling 5 characters at once and they are all in the starting zones. (mainly because of error 7)
Replying again to note that I am still getting this issue only at peak times. I am a bit disgruntled at the lack of Anet acknowledgement on this issue. If their servers are the issue, this seems like a huge problem. For them not to say ANYTHING is kind of…idk…meh.
None of the fixes have worked for me either.
Just thought I’d mention I’m getting this exact same error as well… game is completely unplayable. I’m disconnected within 2-3mins in GW2 but have no problems with other games. Tried the port 80 suggestion but same result..
Adding my name to the list, had the game just under 2 weeks, been able to play for hours on end no trouble at all, suddenly the last couple of days i get random disconnects from the game, yet my net is fine as i’m able to use the internet etc.
I’m from the U.K, I’ve tried disabling both firewall and AVG even though both have GW2 on the allowed list. Still i keep getting D/C.
I’m able to play no more than 30 seconds before being D/C right now, very frustrating.
Hello

Choose a character.
Second step : I connected to the PVE world and got kicked with the same following MSG error code 7:11:3:189:101

I have added the following test file for the technicians / engineers to take a look ad.
thank you.
Special thanks :
Guild wars 2 is just epic and i can’t wait to get back in-game with my friends again.

I am getting very angry. I have tried all the fixes, even redownloaded the game. I am a Guild Leader and I cannot get in to lead my guild or manage the guild.

I feel your pain. While I’m not a guild leader, I have friends I want to play with/things I want to do. I’m a little annoyed at this point. I know Anet has other things to do (bugs to fix/etc), but they haven’t even discussed this issue. This makes it seem like it doesn’t even exist, and that bothers me. Even a simple “we know this exists and are working on it” would be fine.
People have shown the problem is on Anet’s end…this is one of the largest posts on the Tech Support forums and yet no one has come forward on Anet’s end to talk about it, except for someone asking where the people with the issue are from? That is really disappointing. :/
I have been playing fine since BWE 1. No problems until post Sept. 18th update. Imma punch a baby seal.
I also notice, that when I’m streaming something, it seems to keep the signal alive for some reason. Initially, I put the game in Other than that, I’ve been having the same problem for a few days now. From lvls 1 – 37, I have not had a problem. Now I can’t even play the game.

exactly at 2:00pm (+2 GMT) the game began to lag for me. i noticed it happened at the exact same time the other day. what is happening at that time?
I have switched an ISP i get the exact same problem at the exact same time which means its not ISP. neither it is connectivity on my end because today morning everything worked great…
this problem takes too long to fix.. it is getting frustrating. i cant play this on most hours of the day.
I am having the Same issue with my game.
I am not going to reinstall or do anything. I am going to wait for a patch or to come out.
We all havepaid full price for this game which includes software and tech support. reinstalling or modifying the folders or even prioritizing the IP address on the router is not our job.
Areanet needs to work on fixing this issue.
Why has ArenaNet stopped replying to this thread?

Why has ArenaNet stopped replying to this thread?
Did they ever?
I had some major lag spikes, but never disconnects.
Today however I decided to start exploring all vista’s/POI/etcetera in other zones, where I havent played in a while. (Im currently lvl 78). When I went back to lower level zones today I got random disconnects to character selection screen.
error code=7:11:3:189:101
In 50 min time is happened 4 times now, in 2 different zones. Got me killed twice.
This is kinda unplayable.
Does Areanet read this thread, or is it advisable to report a ticket?
Dunno about anyone else but today has been rather unplayable with this error pretty much popping up all day. Usually I get this error around 7pm-12am where It then gets unplayable for me, although I have been playing since tuesday so not really much to go on but meh =)
I’ve been getting this most of the time for a few days (probably since the 18th, though I havent been keeping track). I tried reinstalling the game, and its better but it is still there and unplayable.
I figured I’d also add my name to the list and make this post one longer so that it hopefully gets resolved sooner.
I cant play at all today. no more than 60 seconds after logging in Its good ole error 37 again lol. Haven’t had connection problems before. on a wired connection into modem with firewall and antivirus off. weird.
Thief
After being unable to play because of the disconnects to character selection screen (every 5 min or less) I decided not to play with my lvl 79 engineer, but make a new character (thief).
I played to lvl 8 now and got zero disconnects in the human beginning zone. No problems at all.
The fact that it only happens in certain zones, makes me believe its a serious game-issue and not something that is wrong on my end. (ISP or firewall or videocard). Also the fact that when the disconnect is about to happen I can run around for 15 sec without being able to cast spells before I get booted to slection screen, makes me think it is not a video issue, but really a connection thing.
Okay, been able to play fine today, played about 2 hours around 3pm and an hour around 9pm. Just decided to have another go and guess what’s back? yep this error code. It is now 22:10 here and i cannot play more than 30 seconds without constant D/C.
Strange how it worked earlier today and i didn’t have this problem at all for the first week of owning the game. Something is clearly wrong.
It has been at least six days since I been able to play. I have tried most of the advice in this thread and nothing works. I can get to character select, but after my character loads, I get disconnected within 30 seconds if not faster with the error code popping up. Still no response from ANet makes me worried. I paid for this game, and I want to play.
Thanks for posting the “try streaming something else” thingy – unfortunately epic fail here. Hope it works for others….
Unplayable again tonite its after 10pm UK – surely not peak…
Sent them a ticket about this error, and asking them to pop in here and give us something, even a little bit of a hint, so we can be reassured that they are doing smething about this and not feel ignored ^^
Alright, I have solved my disconnect issues! I just stayed connected for over an hour without a single disconnect. I haven’t stayed connected for longer than a half hour since I bought the game.
There were two items I changed. I’m not sure if one or both was necessary, but doing these corrected my issue.
The first I changed was turning off UPnP on my router. UPnP is really not necessary.
The second item is I cleaned up my Port Forwarding rules. I currently don’t have a need to port forward anything, so I cleared out all of my port forwarding rules. Guild Wars 2 doesn’t need the port forwarding rules for me.
So, if you are comfortable with router configuration, first try turning off UPnP. If that doesn’t correct the issue, try clearing out your port forwarding rules. You could have a rule in there that is intercepting Guild Wars 2 packets and causing the disconnects.
I may turn on UPnP in my router again to see if I start disconnecting again. But I probably won’t.
Dear lord, Friday night is just impossible. I don’t even have enough time after logging in to switch to a less crowded zone before I’m 7:11’d.
This is a reply from the ticket I sent earlier, maybe it could help them fix it better:
There is a free trial program called PingPlotter Standard which may be of some use to us in determining the health of your active Internet connection. We ask that if you are using a router, hub, or switch, to first disconnect this device and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection.
This program is not supported by NCsoft. You can find the program and information on how to use it at http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html
1. Please download and install the Standard version of PingPlotter.
2. Run the program and in the upper left corner you will see an “Address to Trace:” section.
3. Type in the server IP you find in game by typing in the command /IP while playing on your server.
4. Click the “Trace” button. Please allow the tool to run for at least 30 minutes even if you are unable to play, or you get disconnected during this time.
5. Click on the “Stop” button. Then, click on File → “Save Sample Set” and save the file to your computer in a location that will be easy to find, such as your Desktop.
Please update your incident at the provided link and attach the report. If you encounter a problem such as excessive lag or Code=007, please tell us what time the problem occurred so that we can investigate that section of the report.
Hey all,
Just adding my name onto the long list of people who are encountering this same problem as I am.
Before the build released on September 18th, I had no problems connecting/playing for long periods of time. After the build was released, I started encountering the same error code. I would be playing, and next thing I know, my character has frozen, and wondered off into a group of monsters. It also happens in towns and the Overflow district. I will get disconnected randomly.
At first, my friends and I thought it was just the connection on my side, because it would sometimes kick me off of Ventrilo as well. However, my Internet connection has not changed in the month that the game has been out for. This means that the problem lies on ANet’s end, not mine.
As of today, I was able to log on briefly, but was shortly kicked off after about 10 minutes. It has now gotten to the point where I cannot even load into a zone before I receive the error. I have also been getting error 58 as well, even though my connection is fine and my firewall always allows GW2 through. This is incredibly frustrating, because the game is basically unplayable for me (and a whole lot of other people).
All we can hope for is for ANet to hear us out and come up with a build that will solve this. :/
After Soulus’s post and lack of any type of response from powers that be; tells me that no solution is close at hand. That being said, some type response is needed.

id just like to add my name to the list. In the U.S. and on university internet so i dont have access to the router. But I’m able to get on occasionally and play for as log as I like once i get past the loading screen.
I’m trying to participate in WvW with my guild, but I can’t because I keep getting kicked out of the game for no apparent reason. Once while in Eternal Battlegrounds, so I had to queue back up and it has taken hours, obviously, and then again hours after waiting in the queue, so now I have to queue again with no hope of getting in anytime soon. This is absolutely stupid. I’m not losing internet connection or being kicked for inactivity. I’m just getting kicked out with error 7:11:3:189:101…This is incredibly aggrivating as you can imagine.

At this point I just want some kind of acknowledgement there is a problem from Anet. Even a simple “Guys, we really don’t know what the problem is but we have someone looking into this. Can’t give you an ETA on a fix at the moment.” would be fine.
This is one of if not the largest errors people are getting, with hundreds of people posting about it…many of them pointing out the fact that it is indeed on Anet’s end and we have yet to get a response. Eh, I don’t know.
Got this error from the start of the game. I am very busy man, have very limited free time for this game, and i would like to spend it with my friends. But i can’t. Yes, during some days i was able to play for like 30 min without err7 but for example now i haven’t played continuously for more than 15 min…usually under 10. Imagine dungeons, wvwvw, sPVP or even story line quests are simply unplayable. I was still hoping for some fix, and was really excited every time when my client was downloading anything after daily update. But every single time i was just disappointed that my problem still persist. Game should entertain it’s players, but this game only force me to do anything else than play it. And silence from ANet about this is the most horrible thing on that. I am also programmer, but if i would be so silent about some existing error in my solution, my boss would fire me after 2-3 days…

and yes I did all possible “fixes” posted here with no success.
servers were down earlier today. Game crashed and everyone was booted. I checked twitter and facebook and Anet said they couldn’t even post on forums. I would imagine they can now if I can. I can log into game again but now its back to this error. getting kicked after 5 minutes. Its obviously not on our ends. A friend told me there was a rumor going around that they had to shut down the servers because there was a major exploit. Whatever is going on many of us cant play and its a little irritating.
Thief
Adding my name to the list.
I only get as far as login screen, press play and nothing happens. Then error message and crash.
Funny thing is that I played it last weekend at my parents house without problems (same ISP)
Now I have to play it through mobile broadband, which also works without any issues but has a monthly limit.
Have tried all fixes, bypassing wireless router etc.
Some acknowledgement of this problem would be nice.
Chalk me up as another person who’s locked out by this. It started Wednesday night, when I got three or four disconnects. Thursday was worse, dropping me much more frequently. Friday is completely unplayable. If I manage to log in, I last less than two minutes before getting disconnected with a 7:11:3:189:101 error.
I’ve gone nuts trying to debug this. I’ve tried using my neighbor’s WiFi, so I’m pretty sure it’s not my WiFi or my ISP connection. I’ve tried using a physical ethernet cable instead of WiFi, so it’s not the WiFi hardware on my machine. I’ve rebooted everything and run GW2 with -repair, which changed nothing, and with -diag, which found no connection problems.
I’ve tried different characters in a different zones to see if that solves the problem, but no luck.
(edited by Mapache.4852)
I have played GW2 since the start and had no problems at all. But since patch 18/9 I get disconnects constantly. No changes in routers, hardware, security etc. It just stopped working after the patch. Weird!
I have the same issue, started yesterday. Nothing changed on my side, still using the same pc and same connection…
Fort Aspenwood
Same problem as you guys, even though I don’t get this error all the time – the game is a lagfest and unplayable. It started one week ago. Now I can’t even play with my friends without rubber banding, freezes and stuff like that all over the place. The only thing I can do is crafting.
This is so frustrating.. I have tried all fixes and none have worked. They don’t even bother to reply to my support ticket.
