Great post OP! Cheers!

I didn’t say anything about letting anything slide. Objective opinions are encouraged but do you ever read your own posts? You use words like angry, deceit, and drop f bombs like they’re going out of style. This is a video game…gain some perspective. As soon as anger becomes part of the equation you might want to re-think your choice of hobbies.
Please point out anywhere, just once where i dropped the “f bomb”…even just once will do.
Also if someone says something, or this case markets a product a certain way, then actually produces a different product after you’ve paid for it…that is deceit, and yes im a touch angry about it…failing to see your point, did you have one ?
Just to relax a bit? Realize it’s a game? Provide feedback but not get angry maybe?
That’s all I was trying to get across. My bad if it was confusing.

Respect is earned, not given…they completely misled their customers, and their apparent lack of concern over players real concerns isnt helping….they deserve neither my respect nor my money.
Dude, everything will be okay. This is a game…no one is dying…seriously. Half of your posts could fit in with day time soaps. It’s cool to note gameplay issues but it might be good to go grab a beer and relax a bit.
Anet said "Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. "
Call me crazy but I believe them. They found there was too big of progression gap between exotics and legendaries. They are trying to bridge the gap and I’m sure if they could turn back time they would have launched without that gap and no one would be freaking out.
So until they develop a pattern of rolling out new gear levels on a regular basis I’ll take them at their word. So far they’ve created probably my favorite MMO to date and I’m more than happy to hang with GW2 to see where they take us.
Cheers all and for those in the US have a great Thanksgiving!

Whiner is degrading but so is calling anyone that makes a positive post a fanboy or White Knight. There’s folks like me and others I play with that don’t have issue with any of the recent changes or additions to the game.
Objective Criticism and Praise should both be respected.

Just a heads up…I’m going to keep playing. GW2 so far hasn’t deviated from why I bought the game. Some of my friends left but some are still here…just like the first few months of every other MMO I’ve played.
Don’t lose sight of the fact that this is a game…feedback is great but adding drama to the feedback…not so much.

No. Max set gear should be a goal to achieve. It should be based on the amount of work one is willing to put in….
Even the phrasing is wrong here, as a game shouldn’t ever be considered work. I wouldn’t care if better gear had an effect on PvE only, especially instances. But it also gives an advantage to people in WvW, not because they’re better, but because they have more time. This punishes people for having a job, a family and so on.
Pretty sure this thread asked for peoples opinions even if the opinions differ from yours.
I agree. I’ve enjoyed the 1 time events especially the Halloween one but would like to see the winter celebration run for a longer duration and maybe be a little more light hearted in nature.
Throw up decorations in the home cities(not just LA), and give us activities similar to costume brawl, carving pumpkins, a fun jumping puzzle(challenging but not so much that I’m dropping f-bombs trying to complete it), toss some unique skins on the trader and call it good.

No, it should take some time to earn or acquire. Love the game but the guys I started playing GW2 left when they hit 80. They bought their exotics when they were lvl 60ish, and bought skins before lvl 10 so once they hit 80 they didn’t feel the desire to play any further. We all bought the game knowing what the end game consisted of so it’s not like any of them were surprised. They enjoyed their trip to lvl 80 and it was back to LoL for them.
I stayed because I enjoy exploration and I’m a crazy altaholic. But my friends like to work for gear that sets them apart (stat wise) and in some cases the harder to earn or more rare the item the better. I’m personally somewhere in between. I don’t mind gear grind at all, like farming for low drop rate armor sets or weapons, would love to even see some 1 of a kind drops in the game, but also like how accessible the various features of the game are to new players.
My $.02

I’ve played several other MMO’s. My post was intended to be a compliment to Anet…not a knock on the other games I’ve played.
I apologize for the confusion.
Regards,
Players may argue about execution but the amount of content and effort put into the event is greatly appreciated!
I’ve hunted down dozens of haunted doors, carved pumpkins, and participated in some fun costume brawl. For many games their holiday event would end right about there but last night I ran around and earned Volume 2 of the Mad King book which looks awesome! I then jumped in the mad king labyrinth and teamed up with other players to take down a Champion Skeleton and Champion candy corn. Loved that whole instance.
Then to top off the evening I discovered the Lunatic Inquisition pvp instance. It took me a few minutes to realize what was happening but it was really fun once I got a feel for the map and flow of the game.
So thanks Anet for all the effort put in! Can’t believe we’ve only seen half of the event!
Happy Halloween!

Are you kidding? I fed the kids 200 candy corn and got a few really cool recipes in return. 1 I sold and 1 I kept. Those kids are going to have some serious belly aches by the time I’m done feeding them. =)
Plus I got my achievement for opening the bags! Woot!
You’ve seen 1/4 of the Halloween event for GW2. Wouldn’t the comparison be less biased once the event has actually completed?
I completely agree with you OP but please keep in mind that while your post was well thought out and objective some of the posts complaining about the event were not. They would have you believe that their worlds were ending and that arena net produced the worst product ever introduced in the gaming industry. So unfortunately the well thought out critiques and suggestions that need to get through to the development team get burried under piles of posts that sound like my 6 year old whining that his sister just took his favorite toy and ran off with it.
Appreciate your post.

What is somewhat irritating is the over dramatization of minor issues within a video game. To bring up an issue is fine but to wrap the issues in dramatic and enraged statements when we’re discussing a video game is crazy. Identify the issue, offer a solution, and move forward by either continuing to play the game or move to another one that better fits your playstyle. Feedback is great but the doom and gloom glass is half empty attitude is what gets to me.
The only thing I’m actually sick of is the use of the word ‘kitten.’ This has to be the new low as far as slang goes. I’m a father of 2 and by no means hip in any way but this has got to be the dumbest use of slang I’ve ever heard.

Loving the game and the Halloween update! Love mining the candy corn nodes and searching for the doors. Thanks for the update and appreciate how you’ve rolled this out without spilling the beans on all the details ahead of time. Looking forward to part 2!
