agree on most of the points here….towers and taken areas should be stepping stones and you should be able to reach and attack and support from one to the next…the auto upgrading dumbed it down and makes no sense, we want things to be more strategic, not simplified, if anything, its now harder for the smaller servers to sneak attack and ninja places like stated by op, we need to be able to take advantage of weaknesses and areas the enemy did not fortify or left unguarded…not to mention how the wvw skills themselves were nerfed and are too easy to get all of them now with tons of points left over for no reason….
sigh…as usual wvw is the least important thing….pve fixes for hot take like two minutes, black lion issues take 2 seconds, pvp issues fixed within like 10 minutes, wvw issues will be fixed by the end of the week maybe as all our characters are stuck now not able to get more hero points for their elites…always the bottom of the food chain for us primarily wvw players……..

quick math…as a mostly wvw player, it will take about a month PER CHARACTER to get 400 hps since on a good night even with boosters I can get about 5 wvw levels…so that means it will take about 9 months to unlock all 9 elites for me…

I originally was on the side of , no big deal, just have to spend some time in magumma and do some hero points, shouldnt be that bad…but now seeing that the hero points are I believe almost all locked behind mastery grinds, Im quite sad…Im primarily a wvw player, so dont have a huge amount of hero points on any of my characters ( between 30 to 130 on each ) , so this will take a long time…even the wvw option of 5 wvw levels per 10 hero points, will take a long time….luckily Im patient, but am let down that I wont get to play the elites any time soon…
I will be glad to bump this thread. Some of us have hit it on the head. The p/p build with ricochet was just plain fun. Not op or meta , just fun. Anet seems to be walking a very dangerous line with this and other classes builds trying to tell us how to play the classes and what the classes should and shouldnt do and basically nerfing creativity and variety of builds to dust. I dont want meta, just fun, because this is a game and I want to play it whichever way makes it fun for me. Sadly Anet is more and more trying to tell us how we HAVE to play our classes and taking away more and more options.
I agree with V to the point that there should be at least a few titles that are quite difficult and time consuming to attain, much like a legendary or anything else that makes you stand out and have people take notice of you…the current wvw titles do that to a minor degree, if I see a diamond level player I think they really know what theyre doing and theyre a good wvw player (unfortunately this has started to become diluted due to eotm contributing to wvw rank which I believe it should not but thats another issue)…..someone who just started wvw or only plays it a few times a month should not be able to attain the same titles, skills, skins, rewards as someone who plays and contributes to their world regularly , the high ranked wvw player should be recognized and rewarded in various ways
the bottom line as those who have said it in this thread and others since the announcement today is that those of us who are veterans and are in the 1000s of rank had very little to play for outside of “the fight” as it is before they laid all this out today…now, the difference between a gold rank and a “newb” wvw is even further diluted and there are no real advantages or rewards for someone who is a veteran of wvw while pve and pvp both have and have their “carrots” constantly adjusted and improved over time, those of us who truly enjoy good wvw have no tangible goals or rewards and have the feeling now of being nerfed with only a new map nad nothing else to motivate or inspire us to continue playing besides “the fight”

dont let these gloomy jaded gusses get you down…every game is different and everyone likes different things…there are plenty of things to do in this game…I have 6 level 80s and have played since beta and still find new things to do and find plenty of ways to enjoy the game every day…this game is still one of the highest rated games on every mmo site you can find….about those hearts, of course they are a variation on go and kill 10 things, but they are a great variation on it with many different things to do for every heart on every different map…bottom line – its a great game that continues to grow and expand and get better, some people will never be satisfied or just dont like this mmo for their own reasons, so enjoy and play what you like
guys, its only been a number of months since we screwed up peoples rewards on season 1, so give us time to delay and mess up rewards for season 2 as well…its not like we had months and months to fix and test the reward system for wvw seasons before season 2 was over, oh wait…
once again, negative a million points for those of you who dont read or pay attention…this issue has been around for months since season 1 and gw2 apparently did not iron it out or fix before launching season 2 or during season 2……it is frustrating to see them launch season 2 when they did not have a fix for the rewards before starting season 2, they should have not had a season 2 if they knew the rewards system was still not working properly….
Its only been 9 days since they discovered the bug. Name a MMO game studio that fixes bugs under ten days? Also this is not a game breaker and doesn’t need to be priority compared to some other issues. At the end of the day, it is only a weapon skin which will be forgotten in less than 2 months. That said, it is WvW after all, so lower your expectations….
Zylonite, I totally agree, IF it was only a 9 day bug, HOWEVER…wvw rewards have had issues since season 1 and there are some who still havent gotten their season1 rewards and they still havent got it right…so this is a many months long bug that they could have and should have fully tested and fixed while we were doing season 2 so that this wouldnt have happened……
ultimately whatever the reason for the problem is , it makes it look like they only cared about the cash grab in starting up China and KNOWINGLY launched wvw season 2 with no fix for the meta achievement bug and didnt care and didnt try to fix it during all the time between season 1 and 2 AND all the time during season 2 to try and avoid this ridiculous problem…the truth may be different , but when you continually screw up like this with the same problem from season to season, appearances are what matter
no wvw ticket here either for me…finished the meta early on….was a very long season and now have to wait even longer for the reward…frustrating….
yep, going on at least 9 days on FC…no reason we should have to wait until January 28 for the update/server restart which would mean the maw would be down for over 2 weeks…gotta be a fix for this event besides a server restart

thank you for your response, I have sent few in game bug reports about this over the past week with no response at all so at least hearing something back is helpful…I understand testing and reproducing for issues, but the bottom line is that for the past week and as of less than 30 seconds ago on Fergusons Crossing when I logged in, scholar brogun is still frozen there next to the totem as he has been for many days and the event is just plain stuck…
Fergusons Crossing server….been stuck with “Scholar Brogun investigating the maw” and him standing next to the totem and doing nothing for over a week now….it makes no sense that an event that is down on all or almost all servers should be down for this long….shouldnt be that hard to fix….I do not understand the lack of fixes or at least an official reply for why a meta event would be allowed to be broken for this long….very negligent on the companies side to just leave us in the dark…makes it look like they dont care….
