I think a change was made. I am seeing 4-5 events every 30 min now. At one stage all three areas, pentinent, shelters and jorfast were going, as well as FIA and packhard immediately after.
Maybe Arenanet is listening.
Also before at Pentinent camp, when the walls were damaged the packheart event would start, however this event was totally removed as even with damaged walls, this event has not popped in two days of me farming (4-5 hrs worth).
I also have not seen the explorer events (lady goes awol with annoyed boyfriend) at shelter camp now for 2 days. So I am guessing this was removed also.
I was last in Orr on the 4th, and saw both the Packheart and Historian Fia events — Fia, twice. This was on FC.
Yes, thats a couple of days ago. I haven’t seen this event on the 5th, 6th and now 7th my time. (Australia). If they still happen I guess they probably now only pop if the event was failed (all walls down), which I have never seen and possibly Historian pop circumstances have changed too. I am not really sure, but I used to see Fia pop 2-3 times an hour and now I haven’t seen it for 2 whole days of 5-6 hrs of farming.
Thers a simple explantion to this nerfs, Anet is lazy so instead of taking the time to find the boters on CS that farmed events they just nerf the event and kitten on the rest of the players that found fun in farming these.
Not only that
Anet also doesn’t want players to be wealthy with in-game gold since that discourages the conversion of gems to gold, rewarding Anet with less money. Hardcore players (i.e. farmers who play for hours) aren’t profitable for Arenanet. Casual players are more than likely to spend real $, and by removing all avenues of getting a good amount of gold they’ll be able to squeeze more money out of them.
The thing is, how much do they want to squeeze out of a gamer? I already spend $50 a month (and I am generous, albeit on a pension) to support my favorite mmo, and I am a casual/medium hardcore (:p) player. I worked out that if I wanted to purchase my Legendary outright, it would cost me $750. For that cash I prefer to go on a holiday in real life, or buy a stereo system for my car, or toys for my kids or a wedding ring for my wife which was stolen right off her hands.
Arenanet are making bucket loads from the cash shop because if a person like me is paying $50 a month, there are certainly crazy people out there blowing thousands a year. My $50 a month would usually get me 4-5 months on other “popular” mmos…
Not everyone wants to farm wvw all day for easy Karma, or run COF with a guild (lots of guildies get rich this way), or flip on the TP by buying out all the bloody rare dyes for 30g and relisting them all for 111g.
I could easily do all of these things in my game, but I have a specific playstyle and Anet is pushing me to do things I don’t want to do, to get items that aren’t even that good to begin with.
All I want Arenanet to understand is that farming is a fun pass time for people to gather up, get into groups and do something in common. I have met a lot of people in Orr just through farming “solo” and it is a lot less stressful than running dungeons, finding groups and spamming lfg on /map.
In my opinion, please make all events VERY hard, like real end game content. I love the excessive veteran spiders that kill everyone, or exploding chickens that cause wipes dozens of players but PLEASE make them drop loot, as I just walk away when I see these mobs now.
What is the point of me even showing up to these events now? What’s in it for me? It was worth doing before because the events spawned often enough that the other mobs that DO drop hear were worth farming in the same event. Now I see no reason to do an event that rarely pops and has mobs that drop nothing.
On a final note, I too have a friends list of “greys” with people who no longer log on. I initially thought it was a bug that my friends list didn’t work, but in fact my nephew, 2 real life friends and 4-5 in game friends no longer play gw2, all quitting it seems in the last 3-5 weeks.
I am now worried that this game will follow the tracks of Rift, Warhammer, Age of Conan and others that I have played, enjoyed but ultimately was muscled out of enjoyment by incompetent developer decisions.

Yes, the events are on a much longer timer. So instead of starting say every 15-20 minutes they start maybe 45 -60 min depending on how many people are there.
They have basically removed events that spawned lots of mobs and were easily aoe farmed.
At the moment people need to now traverse more of the map to fill in events for karma but if you want karma, you are better off taking a wvw zerg train. As for gold? You are now better off walking all of cursed shore and other ruins of orr areas and just farm mining/harvest nodes and do events along the way.
I noticed the nodes in Orr seem to respawn a lot faster, maybe 1-2 hrs so by the time I have completed farming all 3 zones in Orr, when I head back to Cursed shore the nodes are up again. Doing this has been a lot more boring, a lot more solo-ish but has given me 1-2 g an hour, which is still absurdly low, considering COF P1 can get people 5-6 g per hour.
I will need about 600-800 hours to farm enough gold to buy matts for my legendary. Considering my playtime so far on my account is about 300 hrs or so (in the last 3 months), this is going to take awhile.
A very sad state of the game. This can be fixed by adding in the packheart and other escort quests in cursed shore and lowering the timer a little to find a better medium.
Hopefully Arenanet(Anet) will read these threads.

This is the first day I have not played GW2 in 3 months and more than likely going to take a long break (possibly uninstall) because of this. I have already started looking up other mmo titles now where I only spend 12-15 a month and get full access to everything in the game and where gold is of little importance.
I feel really let down by this. They have basically isolated a huge part of the playing demographic that spent time in Ruins of Orr. The last thing I want to do is “flip” on the Trading Post, I want to play Guild Wars 2, not Trading Post 2.
Arenanet ???? Any news on this? Any patch notes for this nerf? First you made Cursed Shore very difficult with 1-shot Champions and numerous veterans (which was fine by me) to make gold farming/karma farming more difficult, but now you toned that back, nerfed loot drops, added diminishing returns and NOW you even removed events. Just a joke….please rename it to Bore Shore.
Your focus on profit and cash milking from fans of this game is now very evident. Your choice to make arenas + sell tickets instead of working for viable LFG and then nerfing of farming spots in order to boost gem for gold sales.
I am very disappointed in your companies actions, especially from someone like me who invests about $500-600 a year on your product (as stated $50 a month on gems to support Anet).

Hello all,
I am one of those few people that does NOT run dungeons (I don’t like to rely on others) so a lot of my gold income is from farming harvesting nodes and events in cursed shore.
I usually purchase magic find buffs, karma buffs and I spend about $50 a month on gems to support my game developers.
So today I went to farm in cursed shore, and as typical I popped MF, Food, MF/Karma Buffs and started farming nodes and hanging about in Cursed Shore for events, such as Jorfast, Pentinent Camp, etc etc.
Only ONE event popped up in 30 minutes!!!! Usually there would be 3-4 events in this time and sometimes multiple events making it exciting, and interesting.
I would make about 2-3g an hour which I think is quite fair for the effort put in fighting mobs, res’ing people etc.
After numerous hours (3-4 hrs of testing this) I only made 40s an hour.
This now means a few things for me.
1. I am now lost in terms of finding a place to farm gold.
2. One of my favorite zones is now a boring place where there is literally no reason for me to go to. (I have all my orr gears, I don’t need Arah etc.)
3. I now won’t spend $50 on gems anymore, because I have no use for MF/Karma boosters.
4. My only option now is to PURCHASE gems for gold but for $50 I get 70 gold which is just absurd.
5. The materials I am now trying to farm for my legendary will sky rocket because not only are tier 6 matts going to be hard to get, they are going to be impossible to buy as well.
6. Legendary items are now going to be VERY difficult to get, punishing new players (such as me) while older players who were here before the nerfs have multiple legendaries because they farmed thousands of gold before the numerous nerfs. (I agree to the first few nerfs to Orr, but the last one is a killer.)
7. The loot we get from all these events are also terrible. I mean 3-4 greens, 1 rare from events that took 1-2 hrs to complete with a handful of people (such as temple events) are not worth doing.
8. Now people will say “go farm COF for gold”, but wait, you don’t have a feasible LFG tool implemented which is one reason why I get annoyed waiting around for others to find groups/play in groups. This annoys me to death because you spent time making arenas and sell tickets for profit, yet you don’t fix issues like this first.
9. Gems are too expensive, so if you nerf farming – then making it possible for me to buy more gold with the cash.
I am an honest player who does not buy illegal gold and such and I enjoy supporting the devs and the game, but at the moment I feel as though these nerfs have gone too far and I feel almost pushed to buy gems for gold. Isn’t my $50 a month enough for this game? If I am paying $50 a month to support Anet, god knows how much others with more money than me are paying.
At this stage, I am considering leaving the game because it no longer matches my tastes. Which is sad, considering I just loved being a “raider” in Orr.
Now there is no reason.
I would appreciate a Dev or someone from Anet to reply to me about this, as I didn’t even see any patch notes about it and silent nerfs are infuriating.
I can see a lot of people being upset by this and possibly playing less and buying less in the BL TP. This is sad because obviously, you are nerfing in game playing/winning and starting to push players to a BTW environment which is ridiculously expensive.

I don’t mind guesting, but I am after a permanent home and a guild to stick with for years to come. If I have to transfer I don’t mind doing it, but I would need help as I cannot financially cover the costs of the gems.
I actually did guest onto the Sanctum of Rall server (to check out MCG guild) but as soon as I got disconnected, I was bumped back to Dragonbrand. This happened twice, mid event which just turned me off guesting. In Australia they are upgrading our internet networking and my area will have more work until the 16th May. This means my connection will be unstable until then. Thankfully when it’s finished, I will get my ultra fast internet speeds back!
Anyway…look forward to more offers etc to join guilds or guilds willing to help me transfer over permanently.
Cheers
Tony (Lucius).
Hi,
Thanks for the kind words.
I am a little apprehensive of moving servers because for one, I can’t afford the transfer (I am a pensioner/disability income) and the gems I do have, took me months to save up! I also don’t want to be a burden on anyone and ask for gold for gems. That’s not what I am about!
If people want to help, so be it – but I prefer it to be in game doing things together and having patience with me.
Today I did some tests in hospital so I have been sleeping most of the day. I might get back into the game in the next few days and take some of these offers into consideration!
Cheers,
Tony
Oh and I am on Dragonbrand server.
Hi all,
Well I started GW2 on launch then had to quit after 3 weeks because of chemotherapy and boredom (felt lonely in game) and recently decided to come back (8 weeks ago). I have been enjoying the game again, and getting back into it. I have leveled to 80 (was 58 when I quit) and have picked up some exotic gear, farmed a handful of gold and working on materials for my legendary.
At the moment I tend to play all hours of the day, but I am from Australia so it puts me slightly out of sync with US gamers with both time and sometimes because of my age and demographic.
As stated, I am very ill and suffered a stroke recently due to a tumor which I am fighting. This has brought on some very bad problems as I tend to get lost and frustrated easily and thus would need some understanding people to talk to. Getting lost or having issues with my timing is a big obstacle for me and I would need helpful friends who are willing to give me a hand to accomplish some tasks. At the moment I am trying world completion (stuck at about 80%) because I tend to have navigation issues in game and in real life due to my brain injuries.
I have been in a few guilds but for whatever reason it has not worked out. I recently was in a very nice guild, but I was one of the few English speaking people in the guild who was located in Asia. So closer to my time frame but I felt isolated…
So if you are a guild willing to help me through things, which would entail actually being in a group with me – then I am very interested. I am also very much interested in a guild that does events together (be it farming or missions) and that aren’t too flashy or show off like in nature.
In future I would like to begin running lots of dungeons, but as long as my group is understanding and caring.
At this stage I am not very interested in pvp/wvw but I do need my 500 badges and I would like to go through some puzzle farming with guildies.
Cheers,
Lucius.
I get a massive 22 fps drop to 38 fps (from usual 60) in Fishers Beach End…the only thing that was there was a few npc, no players, some ore and you guessed it….a bucket load of smoke effects/mist.
I have the very same issue at the Fire Elemental, where my FPS tanks to 24fps just when there is smoke. When the smoke goes, back to 60fps.
I have a GTX580 3g, 16 gig ram and a 2600k OC @ 4.6ghz. I also have 2 X Intel 510 SSD’s (very expensive hardware) at raid 0. I use no 3rd party programs, and play GW2 as intended. I can run all games at 60fps on ultra usually. I can run GW2 at 60fps everywhere, even with supersample (around 40fps in main cities though) and even with low settings, this smoke hurts my system bad.
I used Lediath’s tests and I get 4-5 fps drops doing that. but its when theres a lot of mist, smoke etc (any particle effect really) that I lose about 50% of my performance.
Fire elemental is easy to replicate, drops from 60 to 24 for 1-3 seconds and then back to normal once the smoke clears. This issue happened with 30+ in the room and with just 3 people in the room…I have 60fps in big zergs, so the issue is just the smoke/mists effects.
