Thanks Healix, I’ll try playing it 3 times during my next run
In an effort to improve my times in completing Tribulation mode in 2-3 I finally went out and found Shatter Serenade, but I can’t seem to get it to work.
I’m in the spiky floored room before the Yeti boss and trying to get the shortcut icicle to fall using Shatter Serenade. I’ve tried standing where you’d hit the crack in the icicle with the slingshot and where you’d stand to hop onto the icicle.
Am I missing something? Do you need to be really close to the icicle, or is there specific timing in the notes that I need to use? Does it even cause icicles to crash down without having to expand the cracks, or do I have the wrong impression of what the song does?
I like the look you are going for but I’m not particularly a fan on the colouring. Of course, the moustache makes up for that so 8/10.
I’m including 3 character shots, being a bit selfish but I’m looking for opinions on the looks as the people I hang out with in game don’t much care for that side of things. In order they are my necromancer, my elementalist and my work-in-progress guardian (she’s lv 18, I might take a liking to another look by the time she’s 80).
I’ve very little experience with CoE so let me know if anything in my post is incorrect, or if Alpha in path 3 differs significantly from path 2 (the OP only mentions path 3 but another post mentioned path 2 as well). I did path 2 yesterday with my conditionmancer and apart from the mistakes I made due to it being my first time we actually did alright.
The first Alpha fight was the hardest for me as I was learning the dodging pattern, and also because it seemed to me like he hits hardest in the first fight. With the 2 dodges and absorbing some damage with deathshroud if I was low on health I managed to stay up for all 3 Alpha fights. My armour was all Rabid gear with Undead runes.
Given the damage the AoE dished out I think I may have actually done worse on a more agile but lower HP class due to being unable to survive more than 1 mistake.
Most crafting is pretty expensive if you don’t already have a lv 80 who is earning their gold from dungeons, world events and farming. To get the cheapest crafting methods, have a look at http://www.gw2crafts.net/ and go to the totals section.
If you’ve been collecting ingredients along the way, cooking can be dirt cheap. I recently got 10 levels on an alt by levelling cooking and it cost about 40 silver after selling back the food and unused components.
Curuniel has already given some good advice on WvW, and anything else about it you should pick up by running with the group for a while.
One last method I’ll mention is dungeons, as completing each path gives 70% of the experience you need to your next level as well as extra money and dungeon tokens (which can be used to get cheap exotic armour and weapons at lv 80). Ascalonian Catacombs is a lv 30 + dungeon and I’d recommend going through as many of the paths you can each day while levelling.
There are a number of PvP skins you cannot get in PvE, notably the Conquest hat and the Tribal light armor set.
At least with the hat (the Lionguard tricorn) you can spend a few badges of honor at your borderlands keep for the skin and then use it in PvE.
I had a little look at the WvW merchants, and couldn’t find anything resembling Lionguard weapons. It was worth a shot though, thanks.
That is most likely Lionguard trident. (as it follows the lionguard motif) Lion guard weapons can be bought with karma in lions arch. I know there is a trader at top of the tower next to the laurel vendor in Fort mariner. As for a bug I don’t know about any. But your best chance is to go check there…
As I said, that trident uses the staff skin. Seems like this might be a bug as no-one has so far been able to find the skin in PvE, so I’ll submit a bug report. Hopefully it’s not meant to be PvP exclusive ^^. Thanks all.
I hope that isn’t the case, but thanks for the reply. Would this be the kind of thing to submit a bug report about if it turns out there is no PvE equivalent, or are there PvP exclusive skins?
I was browsing Argos Softs’ in progress weapons galleries and stumbled on a trident that I haven’t been able to locate:
http://argos-soft.net/GW2WeaponGallery/index.php?item=Trident_23
The website says it’s a PvP skin, but I would like it in PvE. I checked what I thought would be the equivalent PvE set (T3 Cultural Lionguard weapons) but unfortunately that trident is just the staff skin. I’ve also browsed the wiki’s weapon galleires and come up with nothing.
Is there a way to get that skin in PvE or is it PvP exclusive?
With Sky Pirates coming out tomorrow I had a look at the wiki for some information about the event. One thing in particular that caught my attention was the inclusion of a WvW Aetherblade cache. Now, I’m a bit annoyed that WvW is what decides when I can finally complete my World Map but we’ll take those last 2 towers and last 2 keeps eventually. It’s the eventually part that worries me.
I’m on Fissure of Woe, and if you pay attention to WvW goings on you’ll know we are always second from the bottom of the EU rankings. I haven’t seen anything saying otherwise so I’m going to assume the Aetherblade caches are temporary content. This week, us and Vabbi got matched up against Ruins of Surmia, and because they are 2 tiers above us we are not doing so well.
Let’s assume that by some miracle, we capture a keep in the Eternal Battlegrounds and get access to Obsidian Sanctum. Are we going to be able to get to the cache? I’m not being funny here, but people already kill me in there just because they don’t want me to get my 10-12 Commendations. Hell, last week we had a 5v5 skirmish at the spawnpoint with Blacktide for no reason. I ended up running past that and not being able to finish because of people attacking me in the dark room.
It may be premature to worry about this, and maybe it’ll come to nothing but I’d hate to miss out on Caching Out because I’m on a server that doesn’t care much for WvW.
