I see, Crimson. That clears it up then. My main concern besides them making the event more difficult than intended, was that they were potentially leaching experience. Thanks.

This seems wrong. This morning two players were standing in a safe spot inside a world event, and not helping with the event. So, when I arrived the event was scaled up for three people, with me basically trying to solo it. I’m guessing they’re there to soak free experience. I opened the mouse over menu to report them, and didn’t find an entirely suitable option, as I don’t think they were botting, merely AFK. What’s ArenaNet’s stance on this, and can I; how should I, go about reporting this?

Waypoint costs have to go.

You’re apparently assuming that the original post was made with an agenda in mind.

No, I haven’t made any. Of course you have an agenda, and it is for you to make sure that Arena Net knows the difference between good ideas (yours), and bad ideas (the “vocal minority”, aka you, and I suppose, also me)

There is no ‘us’ vs ‘them’. It’s “ANet” vs “People who want to fundamentally change the game”. Like… PvP servers. Or adding raids. Or making legendaries more than 1-2% better than exotics. That sort of thing.

Those things would take a lot of work, but, I don’t necessarily see them as bad, well, I would agree with the “too powerful legendaries” bit, as being bad, acknowledging, of course, that’s a shared opinion.

Yes, those are my opinions on what a good idea are. Everyone is bias in some way. There is no hippocracy in “Don’t fundamentally change the game, but don’t ignore all of your players to avoid a few”.

Again, I’m sure that many people are biased, but to say everyone—hyperbole. And I agree, there is no hypocrisy, in what you’ve said there, however, that isn’t what I was referencing, this is: “Don’t cave in. Don’t give in. You guys made a game, and you guys made a game that you could be passionate about. But at the same time, don’t forget about us, the little people who bought your game. Because some of us do have pretty good ideas.”

In that quote, you are quite clearly coming out against the “vocal minority”, perhaps, without realizing, that in doing so, you have become the “vocal minority”. That is why I called you a hypocrite. You are also attempting to establishing yourself, as someone who has good ideas, while at the same time saying, the"vocal minority" doesn’t. I don’t like that. I’m also not suggesting that you don’t have good ideas, just to be clear.

There is, in fact, a difference between caving in to every little nitpicker, every single person who wants to change the game, and reading those suggestions to find the ones that are good.

Again, still don’t agree with you on this, even though you have repeated it here. Who’s to say who’s a nitpicker, isn’t it through nitpicking, that a game is refined. Who’s to say what constitutes nitpicking? Is wanting something like an option to stay signed into the forums (shameless plug) nitpicking? Who’s to say?

I can’t think of any developers, current or otherwise, that it could be said, that they caved to “every little nitpicker”, so, it’s irrelevant, and you shouldn’t worry too much about it.

One makes you wishy-washy, the other improves the game in a way that ANet thinks that it needs to be improved.

So, if you want to write a letter of encouragement, where you smite the pervasive negativity, do that. But, don’t write an ode to hypocrisy, and when someone pulls your card, you suddenly change your message. That makes you wishy-washy.

Thinking that not listening to the vocal minority, being a good thing, is in fact an opinion, you realize this right? Also, who the vocal minority is, is an opinion. We (that’s you and I) have no metrics to measure who the minority is, here on the forum. Arena net does, alas, you and I are not Arena net.

First it’s “us”, now it’s “them”. Make up your mind already. I quoted you there, to point out the hypocrisy of your message. Chairs that can be sat in, and health bars with percentages being good things, again, are your opinion. And here you have become the very thing you’re rallying against.

Lastly, just to be clear, you said: “There is, in fact, a difference between caving in to every little nitpicker, and realizing that some players have good ideas.” As a matter of fact, there isn’t. I just want to be clear about what facts, in fact, are.

As it stands now, I often find myself reading an interesting topic, and feel the need to chime in; as I attempt to do so, I find myself needing to sign in, which redirects me to the main forum directory, and in the process, I’ve now lost my place in the topic.

I just hit level 50, and am finding that now, after I do an RH, I find myself waiting for what seems like forever, at a DE location, just for other players, so we can begin the event. Because, many of the DEs can be excedingly difficult, in the later stages, as a solo player.

Just a point of reference, Plains of Ashford, the starting zone of the Charr, has 35 DEs, that’s including the latter parts of the events. Where as, Iron Marches, a level 50-60 area, has only 9, that’s also including the latter stages of the events. You read that correctly, only 9!

Perhaps it’s just me, but, something seems off with that picture. Traditionally speaking, MMOs have, in the past, front-loaded content, in order to get their hooks into players, to get them to subscribe. This game, being a pay-up-front, doesn’t need subscribers, however, if they can get their hooks in you, perhaps, you’ll stick around long enough to make use of their “Gem Store”. That’s not a knock, they’re a company, companies need to make money. It’s merely an observation.

T1-T3 cultural armor is far too expensive. I have done everything in the game up to this point. I have 100% map completion on the maps leading up to level 35, I’ve gathered, I’ve kept my personal story on par with my level, I’ve sold all of my items on the TP, on top of that, I haven’t died very often, and, I still only have enough gold to buy one expensive piece and one cheap piece of T1. This is a huge disappointment.

If an item set is created for level 35, then by level 35, a player aught to naturally have accrued enough gold to purchase it, if they’re using every resource at their disposal to generate income, and I, and others have, and can’t. The item is for skinning only, seems more like an opinion, than a legitimate argument.

So, I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request that, the prices be brought down more inline with the rate at which players actually accrue gold. That, or, remove or reduce armor repairs or waypoint travel fees.

Low FPS - [merged]

Ahwoo.8029

Specs please. Minimum is just that, it means you can boot the game. Above or slightly above recommended, in most cases, means you’ll be able to play with poor FPS (5-15), on low to low/mid settings. That said, this game doesn’t fall into the “most cases” scenario, it is extremely graphically intense, you add in the massive multiplayer component, and the load is exponentially exaggerated.

Simply put, if you haven’t bought a serious gaming machine (no, a dell from 3yrs ago doesn’t count), in the last year or two, you will not play this game with any real satisfaction.

Just to be clear, this is what an actual recommended rig (not what a game retailer is going to tell you, it would be hard to sell the game to people with low end systems now wouldn’t it?) would look like, a rig that will play the game with decent frames (30ish in WvWvW, on high, not max settings. Core i2500k @ 4.4 or better, HD 7850 or Nvidia equivalent , 8gb of ram, and the other, boring stuff I’m not going to list.

There is nothing, that arena net is going to be able to do, if your having terrible performance, to make you have great performance. Now, if you were getting amazing performance, and after the latest patch, it went upside down, then maybe there is something to be done. Although, I can’t speak to that, as it has ran flawlessly on my machine since launch, and it doesn’t seem to be pervasive here on the forums, but maybe.

I’m sorry, that’s just not true. If you haven’t bought a high-end system, in the last couple years, you’re not going to be playing this game with any real satisfaction. It is graphically intense, we are talking about 4gb of ram, a Q6600 and a SIX year old graphics card, no, I’m sorry, but no. His OS takes half of his physical RAM. I’m telling you, for a fact, that those specs, and that performance is about accurate.

I’m not have that problem. I get around 80 FPS, on max settings, while out questing. Around 35-45, under maximum Load, while still on max settings. So, please, don’t make generalizations. I’ve seen numerous posts, from folks posting low-end specs, who think they’re high-end, reporting low FPS, and clamming it must be pervasive. 6-8 FPS actually sounds about right for those specs. I’m not exaggerating. If you haven’t bough a high-end system in the last couple years, you’re not gonna get the performance you’re looking for.

There is a massive difference between games like Diablo 3 or League, and Guild Wars 2. Those games aren’t MMOs. In the situations where there are many (40-100) players on your screen, like WvWvW or even a dynamic event, that Q6600 is going to be crippled, because that is when much of the load switches from your GPU to your CPU. So, in your case, six FPS sounds about right. Newer MMOs are better about load distribution, but, they’re still MMOS.
