Did anyone happen to catch the benefits of the program?
I think it’s a good idea to help bridge the gap. It’s better than silence, no?
Theres benefits?
Dunno! I was just curious.

I have the pieces in my inventory necessary to create this item, but I keep receiving an error telling me it’s not there.
Pic attached. I’ve double clicked several times, and followed directions from the wiki as well to no avail.

I ask from you to think for a second about how it feels for us to see our names touted as skillful “All-Star” players beside the name of a famous shoutcaster, Blu. How does that make our efforts and time invested in this game seem? Pretty insignificant to be honest. So you want us to sit back and be gracious about getting slapped in the face by this mockery of an “All-Star” roster? Sure, some of the comments were written harshly by some, but what you are asking is for us to bite our tongues and smile while Blu is nominated as a member of our level and just roll with it. I find that asinine.
We are not just a vicious online community trying to make Blu feel bad for fun. We are simply a community that has been neglected, beaten, and pushed to the back burner one time too many. This tournament was seen as a recognition for the top end players and it has turned into a farce.
Hopefully you find my response “professional” as apparently you feel that we all lack that virtue.
This isn’t about YOU. This is about a few people who can’t put their own feelings aside for the sake of someone who deserves all the love from this community. And yes, I’m asking you to bite your tongue, because doing so is what is best for GW2 PvP. If you don’t see that, I’m sorry, but you seriously have to choose your battles more wisely.
All you are doing right now is putting someone in the limelight that has done nothing but good for this community, while holding GW2 PvP to some arbitrary industry standard. Guess what? Your argument here is not going to fix the GW2 PvP scene. If you disagree with Blu being on the All-Star roster, that is fine, but there is no reason to publicly call him out. You are not handling this in a way that is conducive to the growth of GW2 PvP. End of story.
Also, this has nothing to do with my connection to ArenaNet, and everything to do with my sense of compassion toward other human beings.
Sorry but I feel this is absolutely a great battle to choose to hold Anet accountable to what they say/do.
So where do we voice our opinions and our dissatisfaction over what Anet has done if not the game forums? This is the best way for exposure and for others to voice themselves as well. The issue is Anet said one thing and has done another and now you (and others) are calling us monsters for saying Blu doesn’t fill the requirements to represent NA as an all star player. It’s not a personal attack against Blu, he just happens to be the one Anet threw to the curb because they are too stingy to fly him out to shoutcast which is something he absolutely deserves.
We are mad at Anet for listing Blu on the roster and we are saying why he doesn’t belong but doing so makes lack compassion for others apparently. His name comes up because we are trying to get Anet to see their wrongdoing and hoping they will admit it and do what they should have from the start — fly Blu to Germany and make a roster of 5 top players for NA.
Why is it necessary to call Blu out, though? Why not keep it anonymous? I’m not saying you shouldn’t be upset. I’m not saying that you should not say anything. I’m saying that you’re not being tactful in preserving one of the best members of this community.

Ok, I’m going to step out of the shadows to respond to this.
Blu has contributed more to this community than anyone else in it. He is an all-star, and deserves to go to Germany and play alongside the people he has been promoting for the past year and a half.
It’s sad seeing some of the top players making disparaging remarks toward him. If you ever want to be taken seriously as a professional gamer, you should consider changing your attitude and acting like an actual professional. That includes being able to graciously accept when a decision is made.
Blu, you do not need defend yourself here. I want you to look at every all-star list for any sport ever played, and tell me that everyone on that list is at equal skill level (guess what, they are not). Now, consider that there are people in the world that need to make others feel bad, or people in the world that don’t know when they make others feel bad. This is the time we live in, and this is how online gaming communities work. They are a microcosm for all the highs and lows in life.
I have been in your shoes before. It’s hard being a public figure. It makes you an easy target. Just know that you are not alone, and know that this is a small blip in the great things you have done for GW2; people will move on.
I hope you will not become too discouraged by this, because you are still loved by many.
Giving the extra 100 tokens was such a good call. I’m really happy to see ANet recognizing when their players are upset and actually doing something about it.
Major props to Devon and the rest of the WvW team for pulling this off and giving the players something to be happy about!
It’s good to want to help people, but that is not what you’re doing. What you’re doing is demanding that someone stop using the weapon they are using, despite their own feelings.
If you want to help people, you need to actually want to help people. Not just coerce them into doing something else for preconceived notions.
Thanks for the update, Mark!
Thanks for keeping us updated Mark, Jessica & team!
I think we’re all excited to get our delicious rewards from the tournament, but I’m sure you guys are busting your butts to figure the bug out so no worries.
Don’t stress about all the complaining. GW2 is a fantastic game and a lot of people take it for granted and don’t realize that humans are behind it.
Much love!
Please don’t act like they’re doing us favors. They’re just doing their jobs and all that they can, which honestly isn’t much because at the end of the day we still have nothing tangible in terms of actual new WvW content and rewards.
they should have been doing their jobs before and actually made sure it WORKED before even releasing it. Aren’t people still waiting for rewards from season ONE. I wouldn’t hold my breathe it could take MONTHS for them to sort this out, if they even do.
Makes you have to wonder what sort of testing goes into these Patches. Every patch something gets broken. For such a big patch you would have thought they would have actually made sure it WORKED first.
How do you propose that the QA team properly test something that is due to go out to millions of players? Fact is, there’s no way to find every bug. Every game out there has them, and it’s because things happen that can’t be predicted until it’s in the live environment.
If something is announced to be due and done by a certain date, then it needs to be done, just imagine if every single business never met its own deadline. I mean if you cant do it by that time then don’t guarantee a date Anet! I personally don’t mind waiting but I just hope it won’t be a year before this is dealt with because from my understanding Season One Tournament still wasn’t completely fixed, I was on at that time but never participated. So anyways just keep us updated and get it fixed asap- I don’t care if everyone has the same skin because they all participated in hopes of getting rewards even if it is simply cosmetic.
You realize that first sentence is exactly why developers are reluctant to be transparent, right? Soooo many people scream for transparency, and when it’s given, the developers take all kinds of crap if something is thrown into the mix that sets things back.
Comparing game development to any other business is a completely moot point. There are plenty of businesses that have to change their scheduling or push back deadlines due to unforeseen issues.

Eh, Courtyard is an awesome design and map. It’s only the players who can’t understand the importance of LoS, don’t desire to play with it. Maybe the two smaller pillars could be higher.
Instead, our PvP community likes smashing their faces on keyboard and playing on totally open spaces. Their, not designers’ fault.
I personally really like the centre of the map since wise usage of LoS can totally change the tide of play and avoid being focused to death with no escape (Necro).
There’s no tactic and brain invloved when there’s just flat area.
You are totally right, that it has some good ideas, but does it matter, if the community does not like it?
ArenaNet is not oriented toward the market. How much do you think your product matters if the marked / players don’t like it?
Am I wrong? – well, take a look at the number of players still playing TPvP, and you’ll get your answer…
Did you even read what Rym posted? He said he likes the map, then you say that the community doesn’t like it?
You realize it’s hard to take your posts seriously now when you blatantly disregard what others are saying, right?
Why did you title this “nvm…” ?
Anyway, it’s super cool how much effort you out into this so wanted to give it a little love!
Prysin.8542, You might not refer to Skyhammer, but others in this thread do.
Dhuumfire actually had a change made before the “nerf into oblivion”, specifically as a result of player feedback.
Downed mechanics have been updated periodically.
Modes – they’re experimenting with the new map in custom arenas, as well had a CDI after seeing player feedback.
Rangers – the responsiveness to pets alone was a big change for Rangers. One that players requested as well.
The changes I listed above are a tiny fraction of all the things ArenaNet has done in response to player feedback.
Do you feel it is reasonable to consult the playerbase on every single change they make in the game? Do you think it’s reasonable for them to talk to you guys about every change that is made or will be made? Honestly, when would they have the time to actually develop the game if they were doing all that?
Whether or not the balance of dev to player interaction is at a healthy state right now, saying ArenaNet ignores player feedback is factually wrong.
Valid points/questions, but I don’t think that excuses the mistreatment of developers.
it does not excuse the mistreating of developers, however it goes both ways. The developers keep ignoring us, thus mistreating their customers.
Now, this leads to a fascinating question; Are the developers in their full right to ignore the customers, because it is their game, their property and their creation. Or should they actually listen to the customers when it counts, since without customers, the game itself wouldn’t exist.
What exactly is your definition of ignoring?
I guess I just find it ironic that you use Skyhammer in Solo Arenas as the example of devs ignoring the playerbase, when Solo Arena’s existence in the first place is literally a result of ArenaNet listening to the playerbase.
Now, I’m not saying I do or don’t agree with having Skyhammer in Solo Arena. I’m just trying to point out the flaws in these statements. It doesn’t help you guys to use hyperbole (in this case, saying ANet ignores it’s players).
Valid points/questions, but I don’t think that excuses the mistreatment of developers.
This is a response to many posts, not going to quote all of them.
You’re comparing a game that has an entire studio focused on one game mode to a game that has three major game modes. Of course their one game mode is going to get more updates.
Regardless of that, can you guys see how the messaging here is confusing? One person says they actually don’t want transparency, while others say they do. I’m just curious, do you guys even have an idea of what transparency is? At least, how would you define it?
I don’t think it’s a mystery to anyone here or at ArenaNet that PvP players need prestige in games. I also don’t think that it’s a mystery that GW2 needs a new game mode (I myself would love one).
Lastly, I wasn’t making up excuses for anyone. Nor was I saying the morale is low at ANet. I just don’t like seeing people I care about treated poorly.
What update in the past 6-12 months was truly sPvP centric? All you changed was rewards rewards and rewards. And about a bi-annually balance update.
Rewards make no better PvP game mode.
Rewards are incredibly important in any game, including PvP. It is what keeps players in the game. Not sure if you’ve noticed the consistently instant queue pops and populated servers but… the game is actually full of people now. The feature build was a huge release for GW2 PvP, even if not in the most obvious of ways.
Downplaying that kind of thing can really drive devs away, btw. They put in incredible amounts of hours to make great updates and players make it sound like it was nothing. Disregarding their efforts is a big hit on morale and should really be avoided, particularly when asking for more transparency.
I dunno – I really enjoy watching SCII and I honestly don’t even know that much about it.
I think a huge part of that though is there are big plays where you know how important the play was. You know the gravity of a situation with the tiniest bit of knowledge – and I think their shoutcasters do a great job of emphasizing those plays. No amount of clever tactics go unnoticed.
One thing to note is that competitive GW2 is still in it’s infancy – it’s still missing some core features I think but it’s getting close!
And yeah – it’s hard to be invested in teams when they are so frequently splitting up and reforming. They need more incentive to stay together.
Hi
I’m on Blackgate and looking for a WvW guild primarily. I run Warrior w/ shout support longbow + sword/warhorn. Also have a staff ele that I haven’t played in some time, but I primarily roll support on that as well. I’m open to changing my builds to the needs of the guild.
Mostly, I’m looking for an active guild that runs havoc groups. I prefer to be a part of a collaborative/friendly/professional environment. A little trolling is acceptable, but I’m not interested in people who harass others.
Feel free to ask any questions!
Hi all. I have some questions
I’m seeking to transfer to either JQ or Blackgate. I don’t know anything about the difference between the two sooo1) What are the zergs like in WvW on each/either server?
2) How are the queues and coverage during different hours? I’m in central timezone
3) How are the commanders?
4) Any EoTM players?Thanks!
1) Depends on the time of day, honestly. I’ve found that BG tends to be a little less inviting & more trollish – but they do have some decent commanders and they get things done so long as it’s not a 2v1. JQ I found was more professional in terms of attitude.
2) Coverage is decent on both. Queues can get pretty high on either one but I’ve never waited more than 30 minutes to get in (depends on the time of day).
3) I think they are fine on either side. BG has some commanders that can have bad attitudes but I don’t know JQ’s.
4) Yes – on both.
Honestly, if you’re trying to decide which one to go to, it kind of boils down to server rep. As some have already pointed out, BG is not the most popular (in fact, since the reset it’s been a 2v1 against TC and JQ).
I think there are a lot of people that pick BG because they do have the reputation that they are mean but they get things done (mostly during prime times I’ve found). I go back and forth on which one I like more tbh.
Congrats TCG!
GJ to everyone that played in or ran the tournament! Was fun to watch
It’s really easy to get skill points.
I have 100s on my main without even trying, not to mention all of the skill challenges that are easily accessible.
But that is because you actually take the time to go into PvE. There are a lot of players who don’t venture into PvE to grab those skill points. It seems like the devs are constantly pushing PvE into every aspect of the game. I want to create a lvl 2 character and be able to be on an equal playing field as someone who is lvl 80 and has 500 skill points from PvE. I wish the devs would atleast TRY to mask their gigantic bias towards the PvE aspect of the game.
You can get skill points from a ton of different places, not just PvE (in fact, the vast majority of my skill points are from WvW, Black lion chests & champ bags – which btw can be earned in PvP). I don’t see how it could be construed as a bias toward anything given that fact.

Yes – I do have an account, and I will be playing as a normal player, gasp!
Bear – I was open to you being a shoutcaster until you badmouthed one of the most active and helpful members of the GW2 PvP community. I also thought that it was strangely coincidental that after I confronted you about it, a known acquaintance of yours published an adorable video also badmouthing that person and praising you.
Do GW2 shoutcasters need improvement? I don’t think anyone is denying that. Even professional shoutcasters that get paid to do what they do need improvement. You have to give them some credit though – GW2 is not easy to read as a spectator, even as a top 100 QP player.
Sorry, but if you truly wanted to “help the community” as you claimed, you could have at least acted like you would be polite to those putting in a real effort to do the same. I won’t deny that your casts were enjoyable, in an aggro-pvper kind of way, which is why I was open to it in the first place.
If ArenaNet decides to bring you into the program, more power to them. I think you would add a lot of flavor to the team, but I do hope that you learn to treat your peers with some respect.
Back on track – I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the well wishes. It’s meant a lot to see the comments, even from those that didn’t always agree with me in this thread. I will sincerely cherish the time I’ve had on the ArenaNet team and with you all.
