In WvW, as an Elementalist, having 14k hp (Which means a pure damage build) is useless to yourself and the team. You’re a rallybot. Period.
If you die to retaliation, means you haven’t mastered the class enough to go full damage.
Change your build to a tanky one and ONLY once you mastered the class, you can try and add damage on the expense of defense, a bit at a time.

Please, don’t try to twist what I said.
Rewards are nice. But WvW is more than just reward-hunting.
Also, giving half an hour to scout is not the same as transferring to a different server. I won’t transfer to another server for many reasons. One of them being, I enjoy strategic play and a committed WvW community which is focused on that. I don’t PvE/sPvP at all. And within my choice of how to play in the game I purchased, I can make sacrifices. He who doesn’t want to help his server in WvW, shouldn’t play in WvW. It’s that simple.
If there’s no commander, any player can take it to himself to ask someone to scout or scout himself and set example. I’ve seen many people do it on the night cap teams, when there weren’t enough people on. Jee, enough with the stubborn attitude. Will get you nowhere.
If you want to play in WvW, get ready to step it up if you want to win. If winning isn’t what you’re after, then don’t scout. Since the points don’t matter to you, so why keep a tower? Don’t upgrade it either. But if you do – Be sure you can defend it at least a bit or you just waste time and money.

If you give Elementalists a damage boost, all problems will be solved.
Long cooldowns will be logical to have, since they will do a lot of damage.
You can then trait a bit more on defense, ignoring damage-helping traits and have more HP and armor, if you want to hybrid out.
Attunement swap will be balanced out too, since you’ll need it less to survive and deal damage. Now, you can’t survive nor deal damage if you don’t do the elemental dance, which locks you on Arcane for being able to do something.
Having a HP+armor boost on a MAGE-class is dumb. We should be squishy, but with HIGH damage to compensate for that. Seems they forgot to implement the damage.
High risk – Should have a high reward. I LOVE the risk and want it to stay – I just want my reward.

This is very simple.
If you need a reason to defend – Wanting your server to win is quite a nice reason, is it not?
No one wants to scout, really. But people volunteer for half an hour and then get replaced, the commanders take care of that (In my server).
In a server that is united, that knows that sometimes, you gotta take a hit for the greater good, this isn’t an issue at all. It’s an issue ONLY in servers filled with selfish people where no one wants to waste a bit of time (About money, you can just ask in /map or /team chat for scout donations for siege and believe me, you’ll get enough for it).
So your problem is – Selfish people. Start by working on your community, not by trying to change the game. It’s easier and faster.

’Cause what we lack is server info that transforms into lag. #NoTHX

The huge queues are here ‘cause of the PvE achievement hunters during he season. Normal queues aren’t that frustrating.
Even now, most of them already got what they wanted and queues went down (At least in my server) from 300+ in peak to around 80. Manageable.
In my honest opinion, there are much worse things to worry about in WvW. Stop picking on the little things that don’t really ruin your game experience and I’d much rather having ANet working on the things that do than on this. Oh noes you need to wait 15 minutes…
Have a cup of coffee, chat with your guildies, buy your GF flowers or take a shower while you wait.

@ Bloodwort
I’m talking about adding basic WvW requirements to the 100g price tag, not instead.
I agree not every person who knows how to follow a zerg is a commander in disguise, but it sure is better than people who never been in a battle but have 100g to throw away and think they got this all figured out.
Either way, ANY change would benefit the current system. But it has to be dealt with to benefit the battles and making them more strategy based than brainless roaming. It all starts with good commanding.

I agree. I’m talking about the initial WvW requirement.
PvE tags shouldn’t be the same as WvW tags as they require different skills entirely. I don’t know why they haven’t separated them by now.
A WvW commander can learn from mistakes but he has to have some BASIC knowledge and know-hows about the battleground and strategic moves. Hence why having a requirement higher than just 100g is crucial to a good commanding team in WvW.

Title says it all.
Anet/devs/whoever in charge, please refund all commanders while taking their tags and make the requirements for a commander tag to be more than having 100 gold.
Maybe amount of captures in WvW for a special WvW commander tag?
This policy of giving anyone who wants it to command in WvW, creates chaos as many of them don’t know what they’re doing.
If you’re looking on improving WvW, start with increasing requirements for a commander tag!
Thank you.

If you want to chop trees and build stuff, go play Minecraft.
In WvW you kill kitten. IJS.

Guardians don’t have falling damage reduction? What…?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protector's_Impact
Every class has it except elementalists. Which is surely, unfair.. :\

I’m one of the members in the guild (Which is awesome, If I may add) and was around when all of this happened.
I sure hope ANet raise the glove and do something to refund the guys who wasted money/badges on the golems, apparently for nothing.
Fingers crossed.
