I just wanted to sprinkle a bit of good about. To all the people that have worked and are hard at work on this game: great job. Guild Wars 2 is a fantastic game. I know you get a quite a bit of vitriol here on these forums, and it can be disheartening to see negativity all the time.
Fantastic points everyone. I tend to be a bit of an aesthetics kitten, and I realize what is nice to one person, may not be the same for the other. I like Electro’s point about it showing complete control over the element. And Highlet, thank you very much for pointing out my oversight. I tend to focus on my bar in combat, and not on the enemy, where my attention really should be.
Thanks for the input!
Personally, I would like to put ANY skill in ANY slot. Of course, reserve 1-5 for your weapon skills, and 6 for healing. but 6-10 should be able to put in any skill. Even the elite slot. I know quite a few “mundane” skills i would love to use that slot for that would work better than the “elites”.
Also, have the 5 skill on weapons be replacable with a number of unlockable skills. Sort of like an “elite” weapon attack. Maybe it could work off of a capture mechanic like in GW1.
I miss skill hunting. I spent weeks on that alone.
More choices are ALWAYS a good thing. Maybe we’ll get this after A Net gets finished with polishing peeveepee and balance stuff.
This is something that has bothered me for quite some time.
CC is a VERY important survival tool for ALL classes. Whether you are stabby, casty, or rangey. Organizing your CC with your party members is a HUGE part of the teamwork that builds camaraderie when you run a dungeon. I wanted to run a melee ranger of the longest time, and then realized that, because of immunity and low armor I cannot do that. Period.
How many stabby rogues can make it through a fight without blind? Zero.
How many warriors make it through a fight without immobilize, cripple, or knockdown? none.
Rangers without cripple? Zero
Necro without fear? Zip diddly.
You get the idea.
So to sum it up, with all caps for emphasis: REMOVE CC IMMUNITY. It will foster a better community and remove the ZOMGDPS4EVA feel from the game.
(And if you truly do love it THIS much, leave it on a few of the really rough customers. It truly is an interesting mechanic, it just doesn’t belong on ALL the bosses.)
Good day, fellow players!
After quite a few hours of playing the elementalist (having a blast, by the way, even if they are a bit too much glass for not enough blast), I’ve come across a problem that’s been nagging at me, which I hadn’t identified till now. when you start out, you get special effects around your hands for each attunement! Man, that was sweet! But as time went on, you realized just how small and not noticable they were.
this brings me to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kEbzUpKkFE . Skip ahead until about a minute in, and look at fire effects there. THAT would make me feel awesome, and add some noticeable flair to the ele. You can even tie it to level if you want, like, only level 80’s can peep that power level.
TL;DR = My question is two pronged. One, is this level of awesome effects possible in GW2? And two, was this decision to make understated elementalist attunement effects a pvp design decision? So you wouldn’t know what type of ele you were against until spells were thrown?
Just food for thought. A net, besides tiny balance issues, you’ve made a bloody fantastic game. Props.
Dear whoever may care:
This is an open letter/thread/suggestion. Any constructive criticisms are very welcome.
Problem
At this point in time, I believe that the stats on gear are far too varied, with some not being very useful at all. One, in particular, is condition damage. While a CD (condition damage) heavy build may be appropriate for some PvP scenarios (Necros, Eles, Rangers), it is more or less useless in most PvE. In fact, there are some boss fights that, if you happen to be condition dependant, the boss heals every time you stack it!
Proposed Solution
I believe removing this stat from the game would be the most beneficial. Have it be a flat progression rate tied to your regular attack power level. This would ensure that those that wish to stack attack power also get a set amount of CD, and it would be proportional to their current progression. It would make the metagame FAR easier to balance, but initially, some weapons may have to have their damage reworked.
Other proposed solution
Rework Conditions to not suck in PvE.
TL;DR = Remove CD, tie it to power level (over 9000!), or rework it to be useful in PvE environs.
Ladies and Gentlemen. I believe I have found the problem. After a week of analyzing my hardware and software, in relation to my network performance with this game, I have come up with a solution. IF you are using this game with a wireless connection, especially one that is shared, please try a wired connection. The problem that crops up with this game is that the upriver speed of wireless is not very good, whereas wired IS good. Until A Net can optimize this client further, it looks like this is solution number 1. Good luck to all of you out there!
I’ve noted something odd here. A question, if you will permit me. Do any of the rest of you getting this error run steam on your systems? I noticed that this seems to aggravate the issue.
EDIT: Clarification. Just running steam in online mode.

My pet names are as follows:
Moa 1: Something Witty
Moa 2: Something Clever
Black Moa: Emo Chick
Jellyfish: Jollyfish
Armor Fish: MakeitStop
Just another brick in the wall. Played since BWE2, and have had no issues until about this week. It keeps getting worse, and is now at the unplayable point. It kicks every two to three minutes, up from five to ten a few days ago. Hoping for a solution here soon.
Unfortunately, even with the +50% health perk for spirits, AND the trait that lets them follow you… they die. All the time. Something to consider: point defense. Lay down your three spirits and elite spirit, without the following you trait, pull out a horn and sword/shortbow and lay waste to anyone that comes into your AO. Other than that, the spirits don’t make a good offensive choice atm.
Those are, without a doubt, the coolest things I have seen today. And now you’re telling me it shoots RAINBOWS? Instant, mind-blowing win. I will laugh and laugh while killing things. Thank you A net. Thank you.
I remember the first time I launched the game and got that SWEET title/logon screen. Now I have this… launcher… thing. Without the option to have a proper login screen. Please at least allow the option. I want it back so bad.
EDIT: I have scrubbed these boards for an hour now, and the only response about it was the old “you’ll use the new one and like it”. At least a decent answer would be nice. Not knocking the hard working people at A net of course, but that PC canned answer was a bit of a cop out.
