Guild Wars 2

SWG had open world PvP. It was pretty nice, but the best part was you had to ‘declare’ yourself for PvP, so if you just wanted the PvE aspect, you were not effected. But watching some decent size melees in towns was kinda fun.

Would love to see player housing, as I enjoyed it in SWG. But the biggest pain in the kitten about housing though is all the ghost towns. Don’t miss that….

Mid thirties here, not the 50+, but in the gaming world it is ‘older’. Still find it difficult to locate a guild that is mainly older folks that have jobs, families, and lives outside of game.

In Game Housing…. sigh I miss SWG and the sandbox goodness it used to be.

I have GW2 installed on my work laptop, and it has worked fine all the way till I had to install the Display Link driver for an external video card. Now, when I launch the game, the launcher opens, updates and allows me to hit ‘Play’. Once it tries to “play” the game, my screen flashes about 6 times, then the client crashes. This happens when I’m hooked up to all my external monitors, as well as when it is just the laptop. If I un-install the DisplayLink driver, life is good. Then I have to re-install it for work afterwards. Which is just annoying.

What I’ve Tried:
Updating all drivers
Uninstalling/Reinstalling the GW2 client after the DisplayLink driver
Threatening the laptop
Doing a special rain dance like dance around the laptop to cast out demons.

What i have:
Dell Laptop, W7-64bit, 8GB RAM, i5 Vpro Processor

The gem store is a necessary evil as this is a non-subscription model game, but I get your point. I would like to see them “move” some of the useful items into the Gold market after awhile. Or tweak the rules a bit. Example: The infinite harvesting tools. Buy them with Gems, they are account bound and can be used by any of your characters. Buy them with Gold, soul bound to a single toon. While I am always on the fence about spending real life money on Gems to expand inventory/bank/etc, I would like to limit it to $15/month (same as a typical sub), and frankly, that doesn’t buy much of anything in the Gem Store. Just not worth it.
