I think the rally mechanic of the npc’s at the guild lord is not well balanced.
If 1 npc dies it rallys everyone of the enemy team, this mechanic has no counter play because you can’t heal the npc’s enough except the guild lord.

I would prefer to change the Npc’s so they don’t rally the players if they die, this would boost the chances of the defending team to wipe the attackers.

I ragequitted today after playing since launch. I just can’t stand the meta anymore, I don’t say i play perfectly but I would consider myself as a good elementalist. But there is no space for us currently. Will look back after the patch but if I can’t play my class even after the balance patch I will quit this game with a bleeding heart – loved GW1, love GW2, but for the balancing right now there is now other nicer word than “crap” that fits.

Ok, I’ve rellay had the worst of PvP afternoons again because of the same old bullkitten.

And I’ve just about had it.

9 consecutive losses now because of the same bullcrap. And I mostly blame Thieves.

Unless you have a decap Engi or are on Voice-Com/have some other refined strategy there is exactly one viable way to open the game.

And that’s 1 guy close (preferably something fairly tanky and good at 1v1).
The rest goes Mid, asap.

That includes Thieves and any other class that insists they are some sort of 1v1 hero and absolutely must push far.

Why?

Because let’s assume you do actually manage to take our their fairly bunkerish far point holder (which should take a minute or so).

In the mean time your friends are fighting 3vs.4 at mid and probably losing. They get killed off 1 by 1, giving your enemies 5 points each and forcing them to respawn. Now the situation cascades as your allies run back to mid (or wherever the action is) to a point camped by 3 players…and again get zerged down (because who waits for their allies to respawn in Pugs?)

Meanwhile the 4 enemies who got mid will probably have dispatched someone to assist far and kill whoever is left there.

And at that point you’re probably already 100 points behind and the enemy is sitting on two points and has an easy time shifting from one point to anther.

There you go, your inflated ego that caused you to push far point has lost your team the game. You should be proud.

Now this doesn’t mean never push far point. There are plenty of good reasons to do so. Just don’t do it on the opener when it will cost your team both mid-point and 3 lives and gain nothing.

If someone is pushing far (and I’m not saying it’s a bad thing), the person who caps close is the idiot not going to the mid fight, not the one who is pushing far.
And I doubt you will lose the mid fight sooner than the person at far, maybe if you are 3 glass cannons at mid. Usually the people rushing far will prevent their cap and so you should get a pretty decent lead, if you can just hold the mid until the home point capper gets mid (which shouldn’t really be that hard).

Of course it puts your team in a really bad situation if you lose the 1v1 at far, but if you win it, you can go quickly to reinforce the 4v4 mid fight and outnumber them there. That way you might get a three cap. It’s a high risk high reward game. If you lose it, you will most likely lose mid and got a chance of losing close as well, if you don’t keep your eyes open.

Imo there’s nothing wrong with people pushing far. The problem only exists if the person pushing far can’t win the 1v1.

you can keep an eye on close but it means often you stay on close doing nothing. Only the mesmer can join a fight and port back in time to get on close.

Or stray far enough that you can see when an enemy will be approaching. Like the ledge on kyhlo, or the part peeping over the graveyard in foefire, or staying at the “stillness” spawn point in temple.

You need not just sit at close. You can move far away enough, but never so far that another enemy member’s distance to close is less than yours.

A thief pops stealth at the middle of kyhlo, makes a few ports and even if you could see him on the way he will still get the decap. Even without stealth he has a good chance, especially if he uses shadowstep. And then you cry to the teammate who lost it?

Not a bonus for me. You get 40 of them per match, it fills up your inventory and fills it up even more if you open them. I seriously cba to open them, I’m just gonna destroy all of them when my inventory is getting too full.

If they have a bunker that is just going to stand on mid and not help out in any other fights, its usually better to just leave them and then win 5v4 on all the other points. Eventually you can either 2v1 and take down the bunker, or force him somewhere else and get the free-cap after he leaves.

The mid point is usually centrally located with easy access to the other two (like on kyhlo or foefire for example). Holding or having people on it it gives the team a mobility advantage to redeploy forces to wherever necessary.

Just ignoring mid and letting the enemy sit on it all day is giving up a valuable piece of real estate.

It depends entirely on you team composition. Even 1 thief is enough to hold 2 side nodes. You only need 1 class that is fast, and keeps eye on your enemy. Imagine you started a fight on their node and they are getting wiped (mostly due to their lack of guardian who is sitting on mid). As soon as the first one of the enemy team dies, a good player will have the eyes to watch where he will be heading out of the spawn. If you spot someone crossing, send someone who can catch him. Finish the fight quickly on their node (you are still outnumbering them because of the guardian even if you just sent one to your node) and send more to reinforce your point if needed. The thief just needs to stay on the point for sometime until more reinforcements show up. And this tactic gets ridiculously effective with a team of at least 3 semibunkers (warriors, rangers etc.) They can just keep dying on the point, and when he’s running low on hp the next guy steps on the point.

God, you must have a hard time finding either :

1) your F1 key
2) Flesh Wurm key
3) the Spectral Walk key

or even 4) the Spectral Walk return because you planned that the thief would teleport.

Also you are probably glass if you take that much damage while running away, which means you still have over 20k hp. Could be worse, and you deal 4-5k with your #1 Death Shroud so I fail to see how you can complain either way (condi or glass).

Basically, my understanding of your thread is : please make my class more op so I don’t have to get better to fight other strong classes. Funny.

No, no you’re not. The skill lasts 1.5s, the stun lasts 0.5s.

Signet of spite does only work squishies like thief and mesmer who doesn’t have a lot of condi removal, and if they have lyssa still up they get rid of everything.

You don’t get it, stunbreaks don’t really help that much against pistolwhip. So you just used spectralwalk or armor, what the thief does is just run up to you and pistolwhip again, or if you got too far away (f.e flesh wurm) he has has 4 teleports, 3 of them which are instant casts and he can start casting the pistol whip even before the teleport. And if he uses Infiltrator’s Strike as an opener with basi, or even without your stunbreak doesn’t do anything. You are still immobilized for 1 second. And does stability help you? No, good thieves (don’t really know if there are any out there anymore, since everyone is just spamming that 3 brainlessly) wait for your stability and then use their steal to take it away.

Try to even hit 1 of those Death Shroud #1’s to that 3 spammer, if the cast time would be instant you might have a chance, but there is simply too many evasion frames. What can slightly help you is that instant fear on death shroud, since you can time it just when the pistol whip ends, or just before the evasion frames start. But you hit 1 fear, what then? If the thief is fast enough, he ports to you before you get the next fear with your staff and you are already stunned.

Even if the stun lasts only 0.5seconds, you will soon enough run out of endurance and stunbreaks, since he can simply cast that 3 100 times in a row if he wants. So you are stunned for the 0.5 seconds and you don’t have endurance, even if you had swiftness you won’t be able to get away from the pistolwhip soon enough, so it will most likely hit for almost the full damage. And that is if you don’t have the immobilize, in which case you will eat the whole pistolwhip.

What the problem with the pistolwhip is the evasion frames and the low initiative cost. They need to reduce the evasion frames and increase the initiative cost. I’m not saying take the whole evasion away, just reduce it. It’s simply ridiculous that the thief has 4 ports, 3 which are instant and 2 doesn’t even need aiming, and he can’t use them even while casting pistolwhip.

It is just so sad that the game is full of these people who simply run the lowest skill required builds just to beat other people in the game. You simply can’t really find a team without a warrior nowadays, which is just a broken class. Usually 2 warriors, sometimes even 3. Then there is spirit ranger, which requires you to only use autoattack on your shortbow and sometimes faceroll on your keyboard so your spirits use their skills. And now the pistolwhippers are beginning to show up. There are already quite a few found in team arena, which really makes me not want to play the game at all with the warriors included. But have you ever been in soloq lately? I did a few matches and it was just full of these thieves. I had one match, where the enemy team had 3 pistolwhip thieves, and our team had 1.

But then again I don’t know why I’m writing this post, since even if the Anet would read it, it would seriously take more than 6 months to fix these little things. I just don’t get what Anet is doing. How long has it been since the last “huge” PvP patch? It was December the 10th, when they introduced the new healing skills and brought a few, mostly useless class changes, and I’m sure they referred that patch being a huge PvP patch. So it has been almost 3 months since the last patch, and we won’t be seeing a new balance patch in at least 2 months (let’s be serious here). And when it comes does it fix anything the community wanted? Doubt it. Ohh how I would want to write about warriors as well, but I just cba.

As I get better, I get matched against better opponents, but the rewards remain the same and I win 50% and lose 50%. Basically everyone gains rank points at pretty much the same rate regardless of skill which I think is completely ridiculous. The better you are, the more Rank Points you should get IMHO.

Anyhoo be that as it may I have a target of a certain number of rank points to reach and I want to reach it as fast as possible. For that, I need to drop down several tiers. Is there any way to do that efficiently and quickly?

To drop your MMR you have to lose, which means you won’t get the win rewards for a quite while. After you have reached your desired MMR you start playing normally and your MMR should start going up again, because you are matched up with less “skillful” players and you have higher chance of carry your team. Eventually you are at the same MMR and your win rate will be 50% again. That’s how it will eventually go.

TLDR; No way around it. To get the most rank points, simply be the best player and carry your team!

Why are people ok with glory booster removal?

I got more than 500 Boosters left, down from over 700 i had before, but it is just impossible to use them all… If i play one hour per day i cant avoid to finish my daily and i am rewarded with another one… so another hour to play. Im neither going to play 500 hours to burn all those boosters, nor am i going to delete them.

You won’t get any boosters from daily anymore. It was removed about a month ago.

Because this isn’t the first time they said they are removing glory. It must have been close to 2 months back when they first said that glory will be removed. Why didn’t you start using your glory boosters back then? I did. And I used over a stack of them, now I don’t have any left.

1. Withdraw (which is, technically speaking, our best heal) heals for +100 less health per second than warr’s Healing Signet does. In fact, compared to the healing abilities of many other classes, the thief’s healing abilities are absolutely horrid.

2. Protection and Retal, two of the most powerful boons, only last 5 seconds each as opposed to 10.

3. You’re just as likely to get something like vigor as you are likely to get something like a single stack of might.

4. Not sure I’ve ever seen stability pop up as a result of this rune.

5. If you think that getting Aegis after using Withdraw is going to change the tide of the battle (assuming that the other player isn’t unlucky enough to use some really powerful, long CD skill on you just at that moment, which tends not to happen), you probably have never used the rune or even used Aegis before.

6. Your suggestion implies that we should only use Withdraw for the rune, not for the, y’know, healing.

7. Basi Venom is an absolutely terrible elite that gives a relatively short stun on a relatively long CD (compare with the warr’s mace, for example). The only reason to run it is for Lyssa, really, or if you’re some kind of D/X BS gimmick build where you’re running Basi Venom anyways, in which case you probably won’t really want Lyssa runes for a myriad of other reasons anyhow.

8. Lyssa Rune’s #6 ability is definitely not better than Consume Plasma, and Consume Plasma is okay at best, particularly given its cast time (BTW Basi Venom has a painfully long cast as well).

9. If you’re still not convinced of how wrong you are, I would finish by stating that the +165 precision and +10% condition duration, compared to other runes/stats, is awful. We don’t need that additional condi duration, and given that 165 precision is less than a 4% damage bonus at base levels (compared to Ogre Runes’ 18.1% damage bonus just from the power increase), we can pretty much surmise that, apart from the 4 and 6 abilities, Lyssa Runes are terrible.

If none of this is convincing enough to you, then I’m not sure that any amount of reason will sway you.

1. Withdraw is our best heal I agree, but I’m not arguing which heals is better…you obviously use it for the up time every 15 seconds compliment Lyssa #4.

2. Still 5 seconds doesn’t make it insignificant.

3. Don’t forget to mention the rest the boon.

7. Basi is awesome, I never use it as an opener, I use it as my Ace card for that clutch win. With Lyssa I use it for Conditions removal if I’m stacked.

8. Removing all conditions makes it all better.

9. +10% condition duration is great, for Serpents Touch and Lotus Poison. Precision isn’t great but its there and the powerful stats of 4 and 6 more than makes up for it. I’d use Lyssa Runes over Orgre Runes any day.

Removing this rune wouldn’t necessary be nerfing Thieves, perhaps nerfing all classes. Here is proof I main Thief.

I just hope that they will add a lot more variety and challenge to the daily categories, especially in PvP. Keep a few easy ones out there so people can actually get the laurels, and then add more and more achievements so people who are hunting AP just go crazy!

I don’t enjoy PvE, I shouldn’t have to play it to have an advantage in PvP. By allowing some to have the heals unlocked, while others do not, it puts these players on unequal grounds, as one has access to a skill that the other does not.

Can we just add PvE stats to PvP gear and call it WvW Arenas at this point?

Don’t overreact, the difference in ‘equal footing’ by those who have the new heals and who don’t is pretty abysmal. I think only a couple of them are even conceivably better in some situations. A majority of PvE Group Support heals, far and wide.

I question the decision too.. seeing as PvP is first and foremost where you go to unlock all the skills and gear. But nobody’s really suffering, is my point.

I definitely do not expect myself to do better with these new spells, I just wish to have them in PvP is all! To spend 37,500 Glory + 5G per character is just insane. I thought the idea was to bring in more PvP players, so why do PvP players have to go through such a big hoop for a new skill? It’s backwards

And it’s actually a little bit more than 37,500 Glory and 5G. You need to level yourself to level 29 to get 25 skill points, since you get your first skill point at level 5.

There are already people with these rights. I’ve at least met one shoutcaster who had these rights, and he was following a few of the matches I played. But tbh ghosting could be a serious issue, it might kill stealth gameplay. Builds are not important, I don’t mind and I don’t believe most of the PvP community would mind if their builds were out there.

There’s a similar solution already out there. There are a few streamers who you can watch, who play pretty high end tPvP.

This just prevents people playing tournaments to play hot join while waiting. Sure you can play hot join, but you won’t be able to get any rank points there since you probably won’t be till the end of the match.

Pure RNG, and it takes tons of time to open rank/tournament chests, salvage them and then create the dyes. The last I opened about 300 chests it took approx +2 hours to convert them to dyes. And again, it’s just RNG.

I’m experiencing lag as well in PvP, and it’s unplayable! 1/4th of the time I can’t do ANYTHING, I can’t cast any skills, I can move but people still keep hitting me! This is just ridiculous!

Sorry, but all I see is a lack of knowledge issue here.

And you are telling me that the warrior ALWAYS hits his mace stun? It never gets dodged, bodyblocked by pets or blinded?

Atm warrior is very stong in 1vs1 in this meta imo. But I don’t see the problem here. He’s good in some 1vs1s, but if he is being pressured by the enemy team in a fight he can’t stand there long.

Let’s analyse the builds in order or power, which require nerfs because they aren’t fun.

1, Spirit ranger

2, S/d Thief

3, Terror necro

4, Stun lock warrior

5, Elixr r

1. Counter to Spirit Ranger is Warrior.

2. Counter to thieves is Spirit Rangers and Engies. Or just major CC when he is not evading. Learn to see when he is not evading. It’s not that hard.

3. Counter for this is a Warrior as well. CC the hell out of him and he won’t be a problem.

4. Bring stunbreakers and don’t waste them on the 1s shield stun like most idiots do. Use blind effectively.

5. If it’s a 1vs1 situation, why would you kill him when he’s standing on the elixir? Wait for it to disappear or knock him off it. You can also out dps it with some classes, even in 1vs1. If it’s a team fight you should have enough dmg to counter it easily.

Sorry, but all I see is L2P issue here.

Uhm, there’s a menu for that in the hero panel, default ‘h’. Do you want a command to open this specific page of the panel?

No, I want to actually see the finisher in game. Try typing /rank and you will see what I mean. The problem with the /rank command is that it only shows the current pvp rank finisher you have unlocked (tiger if you rank 40-49, rabbit if you are 1-9 etc.)

It really annoys me that I have to do PvE content to receive items to PvP. For example the Zephyrite helms. You need 250 scraps, which you can’t get from PvP. Same goes for other items like the backbags etc. There should be an alternative way of getting the scraps, like a few scraps per a pvp game or you could get the helms from tournament chests.

Atm if you only play PvP, you can’t get any gold, which you still need in PvP (mostly for the gem items). I can’t get the new sets from gem store, because I cba to grind 30gold to get 800gems. Anet needs to improve PvP rewards!

I guess there is no other way than wall hack of some sort. I met this warrior today, he kept going at our lord for like 4 times in a row, and both doors were closed all the time. I didn’t stay there to see how he actually did it, but he seemed to appear out of nowhere. How am I supposed to report him? Just report him as a botter or what?

Learn to play with your build and you have nothing to worry. When people copy your build you can still kill them if you just have the skill, so it’s L2P- issue.

I noticed the same thing on my engineer during TPvP. Sometimes I got the stacks, but most of the time I didn’t get them. I tried just using my pistols to kill people and then just my nades, but couldn’t figure out why I didn’t get the stacks.

I got almost the same as most of you guys above me. I would like to hear from other guys why you use the rotations you use, and why you skip some skills etc:

Air: 3,4,5 (Sometimes I save after the 5 and then quickly change to fire. I don’t think the number 2 is worth using in PvE. It does small damage, and the cast time is still almost a second. Sure the weakness is nice, but it’s only 5 seconds and there are other classes than can keep weakness on especially on bosses.)

Fire: 3,5,4 (If you time correctly your target is still burning after 3 so you don’t need to cast 4 before 5. I think 2 is slacking in the DPS so I skip it most of the time. I still use it as filler sometimes.)

Earth: Dodge on fire field, Arcane Wave, 4, 2, 3 only when immobilize is needed or I really want the fire aura. (5 has way too high cast time compared to the damage. Yes it is a blast finisher, but your own fire aura have ended before you finish casting it. Number 3 low DPS, and fire aura isn’t so good. It lasts only a few seconds and in that time you will most likely just get a few might stacks and other people in the party won’t anyway)

Water: 2,4 and switch back to Air after it’s out of the cooldown and start spamming Air auto attack for some time and then switch to Fire etc.

Addition to that I use water 5 and dodge when healing is needed. I don’t change from Air to Fire if I’m sure the 3 is on cooldown, because it leads you to using Fire auto attack which has lower DPS than Air.

Lost almost 200 achievement points. These are the things I noticed got affected:

All Slayer, Weapon Master, All You Can Eat, Miniature Collector(!), Gold Hoarder. Pumpkin Carver was already lost a few weeks back. I really hope they fix these. Slayer and weapon master ones are easy to get back, but Gold Hoarder and especially Miniature Collector. I worked so hard to get them.

Render Sampling doesn't affect my fps at all

So I was trying to boost fps today in gw2 and I noticed the render sampling doesn’t affect my fps at all. Even if I switch from Subsample to Supersample the fps stays the same. I can clearly see the difference in the graphics tho’. I got some fps issues as well, might just be my poor CPU. I’m mostly running on low/med settings FXAA on and my fps is about 20-40 depending on the place.

Intel Q9300 @ 2.5GHz
GTX 460 SOC
Abit IP35-e
4gb ram.

I tried changing the options in the nvidia control panel as well and see if there’s anything blocking the change of antialiasing/rendering there but no affect. I also have a laptop which runs the game A LOT smoother, especially in WvW. I tried duplicating the settings my laptop got on nvidia control panel and in game, but nothing.
