Fact: the act of even playing comes with an inherited intent to manipulate the outcome. There’s a reason why legal jargon like this is so vague. So they can pick and chose their battles.
Keep spamming matches bro
The word you’re trying to say is influence.
Influence: the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
We influence the fights.
However:
ToS: “Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. "Manipulate: control or influence (a person or situation) cleverly, unfairly, or unscrupulously.
You’re out of your league.
By your definitions, then the ToS states that we can only play sPvP stupidly? As we cannot play cleverly, right?
Don’t put words in my mouth boy.

Nobody is saying that, I think anyone who solo queues has accepted that they are going to lose matches, 50% of them most likely. What people don’t like is losing points for games they have little control over.
This is exactly right. There is very little correlation between player skill and strong correlation between team numbers. Meaning, if you have a 4v5 or a new player that doesn’t know how to play (a 4.5 v 5) you’ve essentially lost, regardless of how hard those 4 play. Player skill isn’t enough to overcome a player deficit.

Here’s the thing, there is no rank or ladder board in Hot Join and Custom Arenas. The reward tracks and monetary rewards are already hard capped. The rank points awarded are minimal per match. Last we forget, they are paid for with gold. Now, if a person wanted to, they could easily spam unranked and ranked matches. Just wandering around and lose every match. They’d get the same rank points as a hot join win. An unlimited reward track progress available. The gold cap is much higher per day too. So if someone wanted to really farm, unranked and ranked matches are more profitable. For me, I’d much rather have them tucked away in hot join than in unranked or ranked. Thank you very much….
Cool opinions bro.
Fact: it’s against the ToS.
Period.
Currently the ladder is a ‘beta’ season. We are testing numbers, but this is not the feature complete design. This means things are missing that will be included later.
This is good to know. We only have to wait for another 3-15 years to get done with the beta. Is the testing expected to be done by the time of 3rd expansion, or do we have to wait until 4th one?
No you misunderstood. They’re not testing for GW2, it’s for the upcoming release of GW3: Gem Wars (coming 2017)
We have a similar discussion in the general forums, as well. Go here for suggestions on how to report players who use offensive language.
This is an issue we take seriously. We recognize that players can get heated, and competition can bring out less-than-stellar language, but tolerance and understanding are only part of the picture and those who use abusive language often will find themselves warned, suspended, or, in the worse cases, looking at a terminated account.
Then you guys could, you know, create a system that isn’t completely broken. People are FRUSTRATED and lashing out; and for good reason.
Matchmaking is broken.
Leaderboards are broken.
Hotjoin is broken.
Premades vs PUG’s are broken.
Queue times are long because nobody wants to play, and unless I’m missing something that’s pretty much all of pvp!
As it stands in ranked having an AFK or DC (common) is a death sentence. Having a single new player isn’t much better; ONE PERSON can throw my entire match. New players are a straight-up liability. Bad players are a liability.
No wonder the community is frustrated and lashing out. The entire game mode is completely broken and you guys are “testing” it.
When are you guys going to start taking that seriously?
Has anet made any stance on this issue?
22. While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.
From the Rules of Conduct.
“Blue wins this time” sure sounds like match fixing to me.
It’s clearly match fixing, which is explicitly against the ToS. Anet is allowing these people to break the rules with no repercussions. Which is pretty indicative of the state of PvP if you ask me.
Yes, the leaderboards were reset. Meaning that since Friday you’ve lost 75% of the ranked games you’ve played. Period. There is no interpretation of that. That is a fact.
Are you still at this?
Why are you even checking my leaderboard ranking? I’ve already said: I went soloq, got a lot of uncoordinated teammates, and can’t carry. Your attitude and persistence just gives merit to that statement. You want a fact? I wouldn’t like you as a teammate and am more convinced than ever before that matchmaking could use a lot of work.
Now, can we all drop this drama and go back to clean competitive PvP?
What a coward. You start a forum thread qq’ing about how you were talked smack to then try to backpedal when it comes out why you were talked smack to? That’s pretty slimy.
I looked at your leaderboards because it’s an objective measure of what I already subjectively knew.
Oh, jeez.
First, leaderboards were reset. That doesn’t reflect an actual win/loss ratio. I’ve been going soloq for the majority of matches.

What a bunch of nonsense. A thief running off without stomp because its “not their job” is just a bad player. Shadow Refuge is an excellent stomp skill.
I am becoming more and more discouraged to queue up now that the leaderboards have been fully reset. I just want to go back to my old place in the ranking >.<
I’m not a divine OP PvPer that can carry rookies to victory. I’m decent. I want teammates that can work together. I’m tired of people not understanding rotations, strategy, whining about ganking 2v1 (it’s 5v5, for crying out loud). Why is my personal MMR suffering, when I try my darn hardest and people just bicker?!
It’s discouraging. It’s futile. I give my all, to rise higher on the ladder. And then I’m tossed down into the abysmal pit.
I’ve met friendly PvPers before the reset, who’ve become great teammates. The people I’d get matched up with before, we would sync together so well. The fights were always fun; win or lose and it was still gg. Glad I can still rush to them for PvP.
I, actually, am the one that told you to uninstall.
Every match that I ran into with you, I saw your team lose. How do I know this isn’t just my confirmation bias? Because you currently have a 22.22% win rate; out of the 18 ranked games you’ve played to date, your teams have won exactly 4 of them.
The game that I played with you, the one you are referring to?
You used the thief downed skill to port away from me (you were in no danger) as I’m ressing you. AFTER you lost in a 1v1 on home point. I down the other player and leave you a free stomp and recap, then I resume rotating. Then you just… run off.
And let’s put this in a time-frame here. It’s not a matter of us deciding to leave the point at the same time. You were alone on the point for a significant amount of time. You left a uncapped point with a downed player on it.
You thought I’d res you, kill the other player, get the stomp, and then cap the point while you just stand there? You really need TS to have someone tell you exactly what to do? If you’d had any sort of map awareness about you, you would have seen that I had moved far away from the point by the time you left.
Blaming bad MMR systems only goes so far; at a certain point, you have to look at the common denominator. You lose over 75% of the games you step into. Son, that’s not bad MMR, that’s a bad player. I don’t care what your little circle-kittenriends says in your hug-box, having you on a team makes it significantly more likely to lose.

No. Just ignore these posters. Forum users consist of a minority of players, most of whom are just looking for something to complain about.
No, ignore the fanbois. These are real problems and people like you do nothing but help marginalize the problematic gameplay.
Case in point: I spend 3-5 minutes queuing, get into a match, and my teammate leaves in the first 30 seconds. GG, that’s essentially a guaranteed loss for me; no matter how hard I play or how well I do.
When anet released the new leaderboard season they said that more emphasis will be placed on wins – This is good in the sense it moves us away from total game played, however, I think that this is the opposite direction we need to head.
Personal reward is already downplayed to a high-degree in ranked and unranked. If you’ve played for any length of time, you’ve experienced just how severely your team can be impacted by an inexperienced (or afk/griefing) player – and really, a 4v5 is a pretty much a guaranteed loss. It is nearly impossible to carry a team against 5 other semi-competent players. I don’s suggest changing that in anyway; a properly coordinated team of 5 should always beat a pug of 5. No problems there.
The real problem is that all rewards are tied to the team win or team loss. With unranked/ranked losses giving a measly 1/3rd of the rank points, and personal achievements (top trebuchet hits, top points capped, etc) weighing in at a whopping 5 points each, the vast majority of your rank progress comes from whether or not your team wins or loses – not to mention if you DO care about the leaderboards the new one will weight wins vs. losses to a greater degree. Not everyone can win, I get that, but the takeaway here is that team performance GREATLY and almost ENTIRELY dictates personal achievement progress regardless of personal skill.
Losing isn’t so bad, but the ramifications of this system is such that a single bad player on your team can easily cut your reward/achievement progress in 1/3rd, regardless of how well you or the other 3 persons played.
I honestly believe that nature of the system leads to a toxic community. People will be hyper-sensitive to the skill of their teammates when said teammates literally determine whether or not they get rewards for the effort they put in. New players are discouraged from joining sPvP because their presence on a team drastically affects the rewards their teammates receive.
I don’t believe that people should be “happy-carebear everyone wins”. However, I should still be compensated for playing well even if my team loses because of a single person. If I suck and my team loses, then I should receive very little reward, and if I play awesomely and my team still loses, I should be rewarded (not as high as the winning team) highly.
