Does Anet even listen?

“does Anet know anything about balance?”

No, they all play warriors or some other overpowered class. Eles are obviously designed to be master of nothing, worst at everything.

I just can't get into Ele :(

Congrats. You found out, why many eles are unhappy with their class. Anet has no clue how to design the elementalist and their attempts at doing something with this class are quite ineffective.

You got it.

Stopped playing ele.

Don’t forget the unholy amounts of damage warriors can inflict. The warrior is totally overpowered while eles lack in their main area: damage. What the ele lacks in health, is not being compensated with damage. Instead eles are being forced to use artificial tools such as conjured weapons to try and compete. The design of this class went wrong on so many levels, that nowadays only masochists still play it.

Do you see the pattern? It might have something to do with product life cycle and the type of support and players an older game gets.

The problem with eles being pretty much broken to almost uselessness has been in GW2 since beta. During beta eles were much stronger. I think the issue is that Anet doesn’t really know how to properly design a class like eles, because they all play warriors.

Ele should be the top damage dealer, considering all the hoops you have to jump through to do any damage. But even in that area eles suck. Warriors do a lot more damage with their much shorter cooldown AOE skills. I don’t know if there are other classes, which do less damage than eles, but I can’t imagine there being one.

Summons + Latest Patch

If the summoned eles had a MUCH longer uptime and if the ice elemental were a backup healer instead of rushing into battle as soon as you summon it, these summons would be useful. As they are now, they aren’t really useful for anything – they do too little damage, they die too fast and their uptime is laughably short.

CoF were too hard at one point…

CoF was too hard at one point (legendary flame effigy being almost unkillable at some point), but there are ways around the hard parts by using bugs or easier paths. Eventually Anet nerfs fights that too many people are unable to win – which is why Tequatl will be nerfed sooner or later.

What makes you think you or anyone from your attempts at this boss, will get one of the unique drops? They aren’t guaranteed and I can almost guarantee you, that their drop rate is almost 0%.

Nobody can stop you from showing up.

Which is one of the reasons why Tequatl keeps failing and why GW2 “raids” like this are not raids in the traditional sense. There is barely any coordination and no requirements to be there. 6 people (fewer actually) can ruin the whole fight for everyone else, if they want to. In a real raid, players could try these bosses on their terms and coordinate properly with a limited amount of people.

I will buy gems from the shop because of this amazing change to Tequatl. Although we did not kill it yet and probably never will, I am having so much fun! Thank you Anet for this great change, keeping us occupied without reward. I really wanted this and it is so much fun to play the game like this. Woohoo! Amazing. Thanks. A sincere thank you. Really, I mean it.

Andross, all the world bosses have time constraints now.

Great – at least they aren’t overly difficult yet, unlike Tequatl.

Do you remember the Karka Queen? I can’t remember when she died last time on our server. I think nobody goes there anymore. She was the first big boss with a time constraint and what happened? People realised that she’s not worth the effort and that the chance for failure is much too high to risk wasting a lot of time. The same is about to happen with Tequatl. Open world bosses with time constraints do not work. I wonder how many more bosses Anet needs to ruin, until they notice that.

And even with testing it – for 5 minutes – they released it while nobody was able to beat it in testing… What sort of release policy is that?

To see how the community handles it.

Well if after SAB 2.0 they still needed to see how the community reacts to content that is too difficult, they now have the perfect chance to do so. Until today I thought every MMO developer is trying to retain their player base, but Anet seems to be special – they are obviously trying to anger people enough so they quit playing their game entirely… That sounds like the perfect business strategy to me… Not.

I honestly thing that the boss has either too much health/armor or that there is too little time.

What makes you think it is the best thing? Hundreds of attempts across all servers and no server has been successful yet, does not make it good content, does it? Nobody should be able to do it “on first try”, but if nobody does it on the thousandth try, then something is wrong. A good decision to me would be to properly test new content with the correct amount of people under “live” conditions, i.e. test server conditions. Anet throwing content at the players with too high difficulty or obvious bugs is not my idea of good decision making. They should properly test all of it and if it doesn’t work, change it before release.

I wonder why Anet did not re-evaluate the difficulty of this event, when they were unable to complete it in their video demonstration. Is the QA Manager/Lead Dev/Game Director at ArenaNet some sort of sadist, who likes seeing players suffer from over the top difficult content? First SAB difficulty, which results in it being nearly dead by now, now Tequatl whom no server has killed so far in hundreds of attempts… Something is going wrong at Anet, which results in bad decision making.

Tequatl Now Kills With Lag

because that part, is just fine even when lagging extremely…

I think GW2’s engine has some built in tolerance for lag and the client-server communication does not constantly update position data, but rather leaves some of it up to the client to some degree, which is why you can still move fairly uninterrupted without so called “rubberbanding”, even while experiencing skill lag, because this client interaction requires confirmation from the server.

Andross.5183

The most common lag at these large scale battles is server-client communication lag, not hardware lag on the player’s side. You notice it when skill execution has delays of several seconds or when you still get damaged from mobs, although you already ran out of their range. I guess this happens because of main servers and overflows sharing hardware or data connections, which are overloaded when too many players are in one zone. Another possible reason is client engine lag due to too much incoming information, which may not be hardware related but a limitation of GW2’s engine, which does not seem to be built for huge scale fights.

Had the same problem on an overflow. It is server lag, because my system is on the high-end side of what is currently possible. Graphics are not lagging, it’s just that the server fails to recognize that the player is pressing buttons or answers way too late, resulting in the problematic skill execution lag.

I wonder how making staff heals better is going to help elementalists. GW2 is a game that does not require support in most circumstances. I don’t think the announced changes to staff will be very noticable, so the devs keep producing changes that miss the target again and again. Maybe that is why the complaints, that eles are too weak, keep showing up. Anet’s weird focus on conjured weapons, which usually force the elementalist into close combat, is entirely ignoring the nature of this class. Eles are the mages of GW2, which means most people probably prefer staying at range.
