Mesmers are always wanted for CoF path 1 farms because they can portal the group past the boulders (for now) and time-warp is useful for mini-bosses. If you’re not playing a high-dps build people might be disappointed with what you bring to the group, since other classes play support roles a lot better.

When you say high DPS does my condition build count? I am using MrPrometheus’ staff build which I am really enjoying as I like how it cranks ups the condition damage.

What build is welcome in a Dungeon?

I have just turned lvl 40 so I tried the lvl 40 one in that human manor and got pwned. I know it recommends 5 players but I am antisocial.

Is it ever possible to solo a dungeon? If so how many levels higher ought you be or is it something I will never be able to experience unless I group?

How long do they take?

Charr – thief
Silv – ele
Norn – warrior
Asu – Range
Human – necr

I think I might swap the necr for the eng after reaching this post

I play GW2 in 3D. I have each setting max apart from normal sampling, reflection off ( personal preference) and low shadows @ 1080

My game runs @ 60 FPS pretty much all the time… UNLESS I am in high population zones. It’s the same story for WoW.

;With all due respect you cant compare mmorpg with games like bat man AC Athere is so much going on in mmorpgs and all these separate things take up CPU time. All the separate entities are unpredictable unlike npcs in games like AC3.

I think GW2 is highly optimized and nvidia’s drivers are fine.

Yes! Thats to skill point. I am really glad it is not just me that has struggled for that one.

I have fought my way to the top of the stairs so many times only for a couple of respawns to overwhelm me moments before the timer runs down for the SP. Cost me loads in armour repairs too – grrrrr!

I did think about stealth but they don’t seem to last long enough. I might have to create a build just for that.

I am really struggling in the Charr’s noob area. I am trying to get the skill point at the NE section of the map, in the monastery like building but it has loads of people defending it and I keep failing. I am a good couple of levels above the mob but I keep getting owned.

I should be able to solo the noob area right? I am a completionist so not being able to get this skill point its galling. What am I doing wrong?

+1 for the review. I had the same experience. When I first got the game, I rated S3D a grudging 6 out of 10, after a couple of days 8 and now its a definate 10!

Have you watched Angry Joe’s video review for GW2? It is the only MMO he has given a perfect score. He says despite the niggles, it is still 10/10. I feel the same way about GW2’s 3D.

I love the 3D in this game.

The mouse is 3D!!! The text is 3D!!

It is well optimised: I have shadows – low; reflections – off (looks better IMO); normal sampling and everything else maxed. On my i2500k and 670 with 8GB I am getting 60FPS when out of any populated area! In 3D. That’s fantastic!

If I had to sum up GW2’s S3D in one word, it would be: ‘epic.’

but

why should I need to always bring the mouse to the centre of the screen? WoW does this, heck even Microsoft Windows does for right clicking.

Yeah

I game in 3D and it is PROPER annoying! The large message is in the 2D plane, whilst you are looking into the gameword at depth. It is like holding your hand over eye – salute style, but you are unable to turn it off! -Sigh!

But if it will go in a day or two…

I am sure I have that option on, but I still have to click the right mouse button to look. Is that normal? I would love to free up the WASD but I don’t see how…

Although I am new to the game, I am not new to gaming with multiple keys and mouse; I practically play StarCraft2 using the keyboard!
But GW2 has beaten me! I’m really struggling to master the controls. Using F keys as well as the number keys feels really clunky especially whilst under pressure.

I would be very grateful if someone could recommend a useful key map for the Ranger and Warrior

I am an unsociable scumbag so will probably solo my way through the game where possible. I will also only play it once.

Unless someone convinces me otherwise I like the idea of being a ranger (fun for solo play)

What then should my race and background be?

The Nord-like race are aparently boring and generic so not those dudes. I don’t care what I look like.
