Do you think we will ever have a PvEvP map?

Yes they can definitely be a WvWvW map or tied in to it somehow but the thing is WvW is like made for organised groups and sieging, its also requires alot of involvement. What I would like to see is something structured as a PVE map you have a big meta resolving itself in a couple of hours of play and then your done log out play some other map what ever you want. So something thats a bit more casual kind of open world PvP.

I never see them replacing PvE maps nor did I ever want them to , I do enjoy the PvE maps and I do enjoy PvP in gw2, I would love to have something in between. This would only increase the variety of maps, but i guess there is no point if there is no desire for such maps. Well I guess WvW is my hope for such content but i just dont see it as having such a focus on pvp, nor should it I guess.

What I mean is like a PVE map with two different factions you can join fighting to progress the meta event, with a focus on small scale pvp here and there.

I would like to have some competitive maps that would bring a kind of open world pvp that is different form sieging and zerg vs zerg plays. I also think we can see interesting balance and twists with the events and terrain creating a type a asymmetrical balance like one faction being smaller but having terrain advantage and mechanics creating a focus on hit and run tactics and ambushes.

Do you think will ever see such maps and is there a place for such maps in gw2 ?

Weapon Swap middle ground

I think they should just make kits part of the Engineer profession mechanic and give us a new utility type to replace them. What I imagine it could be is something similar to Revenants profession mechanic equip 2 kits F1 – swap between them , when weapon swapping you swap to your active kit. Also each kit comes with his own set of 3-4 tool belt skills (F2-F5).

As an example it could be like equipping Elixir gun your weapon swap now equips Elixir Gun Kit, F2 Throw elixir B, F3 Throw elixir S, F4 Throw Elixir X
F1 swaps to your second kit and its set of tool belt skills.

I would like to suggest making Shredder Gyro apply bleeds on each hit, making it a more appealing option for condition builds and a bit more usefull on its own without a field to put it on.

Weapons and Skills locked behind Elite Spec

Well after thinking about it , it seems I just missed the bigger picture a bit. It’s an ok system and it servers its purpose. You have your core skill set and your specialisation skill sets. Currently the specialisation skills are too few and you feel like your picking an extra weapon , but in the future they will probably add more to it: an extra weapon an extra utility skills type, the same way they can add to the core profesion. So although now they add a warhorn to the Tempest sepcialisation in the future they may add it to the core Elementalist weapons, as the system they have set up allows them to do that.

Still not sure how i fell about them locking specialisations to the trait line though.

Thats a good point, but i dont see why they cant add different weapon skill sets without locking them behind the Elite Trait Line ? I get you’re point of view though they didn’t look at them as will add a new weapon and new utility skills for the class but went for picking Reaper gives you access to Reaper skills. Which indeed keeps the skills more thematic , but i still don’t like the aproach they took it just feels like too many skills locked behind the elite specialization.

The horizontal progression CDI included a long, LONG discussion about sub-classes and how they could work (or wreck things) in GW2. If you want to see why we have what we have coming in HoT, you really should take the time to read it. Sub-classes (what became elite specs) starts on about page 40.

I will take a look at this thank you Nike. I kind of understand what they are trying to achieve with the elite spec locking the skill thanks to you and Diovid.9506 now.

I still have a feeling that they are going a bit too paranoid about having too much skill combinations , but I can understand their concerns with it especially looking at it from a future point of view.

So obviously weapon diversity wasn’t a goal.

Amongst other things, isolating weapons in an elite spec allows them to just the same additional weapon more than once (a real issue for Warriors who already use almost everything) & it allows them to create elite-Specs that overwrite an existing weapon’s skills with new skills. Structure creates opportunity in design.

Currently picking the Elite Spec unlocks the new profesion mechanic , new weapon and new utility skills, why?
I feel like this too limiting. Profesion mechanic should be the only thing locked by picking the Elit Spec i see no point in skills and weapons to be locked by picking a trait line, none of the skills so far act like this .
It only limits build diversity and it will become even worse with the adding of new specialisations as it means every time we get new skill will only be able to use a set of new skills and the old ones and never more tha that.
For example last beta i really wanted to try out a GS Necro with the normal Death Shroud , but you can’t do that as you need to equip Reaper Specialisation and that changes your death shroud.
This really bothers me, but i dont see anyone talikng about it? So what do you guys think?
Why not make new weapons and skills unlocked no matter if you have equiped the elite specialisation trait line or not? We will still have incentive to use them with their thematic weapons and skills as the traits to improve them are in that trait line, but we will have far more build diversity and choices to make .

[PvX] Ranger Greatsword and Longbow

Rapid Fire doesn’t really fit the long bow in my opinion. I would have really liked if they removed it for something like the charging power shot of the Snowball Mayhem Scout skill, the one with the damage scaling the longer you charge, giving it more of long range sniper feeling and i think will also combo well with the stealth from Hunter’s Shot

Tyrian Newspapper

What is the Tyrian Newspaper?
Its a system to deliver information from inside the game.
Its not something difficult to implement a simple button in the hud opening a window with articles written in the form of a newspaper. With a red exclamation mark on the button when you have a new article you haven’t read.

What kind of information will it have ?
All information will be in the form of a newspaper articles
1. Well firstly all those awesome lore stories Arenanet puts on the website at the moment. I really feel those belong in game in some form so that they will be more easy to access and be seen from more people.
2. E-sport coverage incoming tournaments and results form passed ones, interviews with with players and teams
3. Beastiary – information for ingame monsters and bosses including lore but also hints about what they do and useful hints on how to beat them like
4. Living story hype for incoming stuff and information about stuff like the first people that killed a new boss (or the fastest)with their names written so that everyone will now how awesome those guys are.
5. WvWvW information. Interviews with top guilds.

and many more community and lore related information.

But where will this newspaper come from?
It will be introduced with a new character a clumsy lore geek that wants to learn everything about Tyria. He is always where the action is and always gets in trouble but prevails on pure luck. So he will most likely pop up here and there in living story in some ridiculous situations. And i think Job-o-Tron would be a nice fit as a partner to our character, he needs a new job after all and just imagine scenes like Job-o-tron and our new character popping up in unexpected places in the living world stuff in absurd situations similar to the scene of Job-o-tron and the Musician.

Other stuff that could go well with this are newspaper stands with little kids or robots selling newspapers and shouting major titles of the week in the major cities.

Using a single One Handed weapon

Or you could have invis weapon skins, but only allow weapons with those skins to be placed on offhand. Of course, that become a balance problem with Mesmers (not that I have a problem with that, being a tiny Asura wielding the smallest and most obscure possible weapons!)

Invisible weapons wont be a good idea as seeing your opponents weapon provides valuable information.

Also as far as stats go on i dont think it wont be any good if its not a valuable choice it should give either bonus stats or other worthy bonus

Why are we forced to use an offhand weapon? I see no reason for that, I for once would really like to use a single one handed sword. Its something so many RPGs are missing on why should we be forced to use massive greatswords , axes or hammers if we want to use a single weapon. Also it seems pretty easy to implement in guildwars and kind of a missed opportunity for a bit more diversity . Implementing it could be as simple as adding two extra skills or a new set and giving it a bonus to the stats it gives
