Not sure I got the points totaled up correctly, please feel free to correct my math.
Screenshot says it all.
For that single trait it’s really abit too much. I don’t even use boon duration stuff and still 12 stacks of might by spamming 1. On the other hand, there’re traits that trigger at 50% health and only grant 1 might per second for 8 seconds, resulting in 8 stacks of might from staying at <50% health and it’s a GM trait with no additional effect..
Nice balance.Yeah mesmers have tons of skills that can basically oneshot a squishy target from 1500 range in 2.5 seconds (or less with quickening zephyr). Nice balance!
Thankfully, the game isn’t balanced around single skills or traits.
Have you not seen a Mesmer post patch dishing out 16k damage in one combo (less than 1.5 second), and the downed 3 phatasm dealing 6.5k damage? You can play blind idc, but I’m testing it right now. I’ll test and report what I see and experience instead of hiding it like you guys, fearing for a nerf despite you knew it’s OP.
I could pretty regularly get 14k mind wrack in melee with IP prior to the patch. There are more sources of might and more sources of vulnerability now, meaning I don’t need to be a contortionist and don’t have to blow 1/2 of the skills on the bar to achieve it.
Smoke Bomb used to hit for 5-6.5k on a zerk build before the patch.. I don’t think that’s changed (just the name of the skill).
Might stacking out of combat is available to other classes.. I don’t see this as somehow the most broken thing going on right now. Granted, I would not be surprised to see it go away and I wouldn’t raise a stink over it. It seems likely to be unintended.
I have always wanted a mimicry mechanic/build for the Mesmer.. something like Blobby from GW1.
A Doppleganger transform elite would be amazing.. copy your opponents build/stats to yourself and then beat them at their own game!
Hopefully you understand that the mind blowing power of the transforms are allowed to exist in their current state mostly because there is a hard counter to them in the game: Moa.
As someone who has watched a transform (Lich with a 9k AA or tornado or rampage) completely turn the tide of a battle and in the end a gmae.. I would like to know what you think should be traded out from these transforms in order to make Polymorph Moa a more balanced skill.
2/2/0/0/6? You don’t mean 4/4/0/0/6 right?
Its not our worst matchup, with boon removal you stand a decent chance. Honestly though I’d recommend keeping your distance as much as possible, and using the terrain to your advantage. Try taking staff over sw/T to phase retreat up ledges, but I think sword/x can work too as long as you can keep your distance and time your bursts for when their defenses are down. Shatter mesmer is a very hard build to play, so don’t feel bad if you have trouble, just keep trying until the matchup clicks.
DPS guardian is one of the hardest matchups for us, but staff helps a lot since it gets you out of melee range so well. Also distort through their initial burst.
Yes, 4/4/0/0/6. Sorry about that.
Staff seems like it could be just the thing. The gain range CC breaker in St#2 plus the ranged AA with a touch of (apparent) condition pressure could be enough to get a gap off the burst teleport and set-up for some DPS.. and I am guessing a chaos storm F3 could be horrifying to a low health pool guardian lacking defensive utilities.
Thanks for your input!
I forgot, you could try starting in Sw/T if it feels easier – got 3 options of damage avoidance (bf, swap, prestige), while you bait their cooldowns and shatter off boons – then swap up to GS for the burst.
Have a play around and see what works best for you. Have you got a guard friend to duel against? Useful to do that if you can find someone willing.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to play around with staff, I think the additional ranged AA and built in CC break could be helpful in kiting out some of the burst/ blocks.
I think finding a Guard to duel would help a lot. Funny that it often feels like the medi guards are either very good with the spec or they play it very poorly. Either way one of us gets destroyed very quickly.
I am looking for suggestions on how shatter spec Mesmers deal with Meditation Guardians. The combination of AoE burst, the burning, the blinds and CC are all overwhelming.
Clones are useless as they die immediately to AoE (if I can even get them out through the blind), blink is immediately countered with GS 5 or the burst teleport, if I managed to get everything else working the passive burning just chews through my health.
Either there is no counter and I am wasting my time looking and just need to play another spec.. or I am playing it all wrong and am in dire need of some advice on how to handle them.
I usually run a standard GS+Sw/T with 2/2/0/0/6, (Ether Feast, decoy, blink, mantra cleanse, TW).
Anyone care to enlighten me?
I would guess that the “not using skills” part was originally restrained in an attempt to prevent Mesmer from doing too much DPS during stun/daze and becoming a true stun lock 100→0 class.
The “Wastrels” skills were generally useful in GW1 against foes that stopped casting or attacking as a counter to Empathy or Backfire (or their ilk), or as cover hexes. In general they had solid counters and required set-up and or/very judicious situational use. It is very much a hold over.
That said.. given the prevalence of vuln it looks an awful lot like a raw 10% DPS increase. Maybe resistance is going to be more powerful and more prevalent than people realize.
Turret effectiveness should scale with player stats AND health. if you are damaging a turret, it should get less effective (less damage, less healing, shorter CC) the lower its health pool.
If I take 50% of a rocket turrets HP away, it should be 50% as effective.
I had another mesmer complain that my Signet of Domination was bugged and was passing through distortion (sPvP). I did not see it happen and had no way to test or verify whether or not it was the case. I also didn’t have any reason to doubt (or for that matter, believe) what the player was saying. I sort of assumed it was a lag issue having no other thing to base it on.
Sounds like it might be related to this same issue.
I find it utterly laughable that someone thinks this is intended behavior that was removed from the class and constitutes a reduction in its capabilities.
