What the weapons are really don’t matter. I can use rifle instead of longbow, and I only use my second weapon set for defense, so you can substitute any weapon sets in it’s place and be fine. I was just pointing out the general concept of abandoning the berserker trait line and taking many adrenaline related traits to achieve 100% adrenal health up time with heal amulet to achieve complete invincibility in any 1v1 situation, regardless of the other side’s build.

After some experimenting I think I found the build you’re talking about.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNAT8ejMdQnHW5BWhAnIGqCqME66UAX8GIA0eoxzBA-TZRDwAYeCAAuAAM3fQyBBQbZAA

Without taking into consideration buffs and sigils, I’m regenerating about 45210 health every 30 seconds. I was able to just sit on point vs a necro who stacked up to 6-7 conditions on me without me ever falling below 90% health(I wasn’t making a special effort to cleanse them, but this build has plenty of resistance and condi removal built in).

I found the secret was just not to do anything fancy like swapping weapons or moving around, but just stick to longbow and spam f1 to keep adrenal health up, and let the burn slowly tick the other guy down.

Chuka and Champawat - weak effects

Here is a gallery someone posted on reddit. If you are not able to see the effects (like someone pretended above) you should definitley get glasses or a new monitor.

There’s been entire youtube videos and galleries dedicated to showing everything the bow has to offer since the day of release, so don’t act like the visuals are only privy to a select special few who has the bow, and throwing insults at other people does not change the fact that most agree this is a very underwhelming legendary, especially one that’s been so hyped, which also happens to be the last legendary to be made for HoT.

The whole point of legendaries are that they are flashy and they allow the user to stand out. That’s why they come with a slew of special effects such as weapon trails, weapon animations, auras, footfalls, and changes to existing attacks and skills, so your argument of “different taste” for non flashy weapons doesn’t really stand. If you want a non flashy weapon, there are hundreds of different weapon skins with 0 effects for you to enjoy, which also brings another point in that the Crimson Lion bow looks extremely similar in both appearance and concept, which totally ruins the fact that this is suppose to be a unique legendary that you have to work hard for.

I have to laugh at the “the team outdid themselves” comment from O’Brien in hindsight. The bow itself has no animation, generic aura, very weak footfalls and I don’t even like the projectile(what’s up with both shortbow legendaries shooting animals? What?) IMO the only legendaries that deserve the name are Sunrise and Twilight(and by extension Eternity). If all legendaries had the quality of the greatswords i’d want to collect all of them.

I feel the discussion has gone off topic, so I’d like to reiterate my personal view point on the problem and what I gathered from the community as a whole in other forums.

By removing most coming legendaries, this took purpose away from the portions of the expansion that are already finished. A whole mastery track in regular world, and many smaller masteries in HoT, are dedicated to nothing but working toward new legendaries. This also includes meta events, completion rewards, and other things, as they are useless for any other reason(they can not be used to achieve other skins, experience, achievements, or otherwise useful things). It’s fine that many people don’t play for legendaries, but they designed the mechanics in this expansion toward ultimately getting them, so you now suddenly have zones/masteries/items that are useless from a design perspective.

By removing legendaries weapons, this also created the fear that any current ongoing projects for the expansion will be axed at a moment’s notice for more profitable alternatives. It seems at this point that it’s likely legendary armor, legendary backpacks, wvw revamp, HoT zone revamps, etc might also get cancelled, something everyone’s waiting for.

Finally, this move is also going to make people very hesitant to trust further advertised features on future expansions/paid content, since it has become clear Arena.net advertises planned concepts and ideals as definite, existing features to sell their game. So when you get excited about the next big thing they announce, you will find yourself questioning, will this really be in the game?

People are mostly arguing about whether they want new legendaries versus new story content, but the truth is what they are doing is causing much more problems on multiple levels such as business conduct and game philosophy than the simple question of which route will be more fun to the players. Totally not worth it in my opinion.

The main problem here is not about whether we need new legendaries, whether we deserve new legendaries, or whether HoT was worth the money we spent, but how HoT was advertised and made.

Do we have to have another 16 new weapons? Probably not, the vast majority of people don’t, and will never come close to owning all of the original ones in this game’s lifetime, let alone get any of the new ones. Do we deserve new weapons/armors/backpacks? No, we don’t have to have them, there are enough newly released outfits/weapons/armors in the gem store for us to upgrade our looks with. Do I think HoT was worth it’s money? For me, I think so. $50 is nothing for me, and I got quite a few hours of entertainment out of it. My problem with this is the way HoT was advertised and designed, and how it turned out.

First of all, many aspects of HoT advertisement was either about legendaries or directly related to it. If you remember the pre-order advertisement page set up for HoT, many sections were dedicated to advertising new legendary weapons and armors, and how the content relates to them. I also remember one of the few advertising videos released was just a video showing off the new legendary backpack, so it’s sending players a clear message this is one of the major aspects they wanted to focus on in the expansion.

Then, when the game was released, literally every aspect of PVE in the new zones are geared toward getting the new legendary items, from map completion, to masteries, to raids, to meta events, to achievements, and so on. So when you suddenly pull out on the final rewards, suddenly these zones/events/raids make no sense for us to participate in. Every new zone’s gold income is inferior to silverwastes/world bosses, and experience gain, karma, quests, and just general exploration fun is not as good as the old zones, so when you pull out on legendaries, you gotta ask, what are we playing these new zones for? For me this is comparable to a Mario game that had the level end flagpole removed, where you have a fun and interesting level that you play through, but is unable to claim your reward by exiting the level itself. Was the journey fun? Yeah, but why would I play it again if I’m just stuck at the end with nothing to do? Just something to think about.

Right after the initial release of HoT, initial sentiment is that there is a lack of content, some being incomplete. However, people held onto hope as they waited for the coming future releases to fill out what’s missing. Instead, it seems like more and more stuff is getting delayed or outright gutted instead.

First, there were only 4 new zones in a expansion, and one of which is badly balanced and is little played. The rest 3 zones features only major meta events instead of small quests such as hearts that are all geared toward getting components for the coming legendarie weapons. Then you have the 2 newly raid zones, whose rewards are heavily direct toward collecting parts for the coming legendary armors. There was also 0 new dungeons in the expansion, and the only dungeons revamped are fractals, whose ultimate reward is the legendary backpack Ad Infinitum.

But right now, Ad Infinitum is not in the game, nor is mentioned when will be released. Legendary armor doesn’t seem anywhere close to being introduced, and you just outright cancelled the majority of the rest of the legendary weapons. So what you have now in the expansion is a heavily revamped dungeon that promises no end item, a new feature called raid whose rewards doesn’t exist(and by the look of things, might possibly not exist at all), and 3 major zones where people grinded endlessly for items that are never gonna happen.

As a long time MMO player, I’d like to remind you the most important thing in a RPG game is not the story, not the combat, not the social system, it’s the reward. The game needs everything mentioned above to be a good game, but you should get your priorities straight. No storyline is amazing enough that it will keep players coming back day after day, months after months to play the same quests, and no combat system is great enough for players to hack away at the same old monsters for hundreds, some times thousands of hours over and over. Everyone keeps playing the same content again and again because we are all chasing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow(whether we ever get to it is another story, but at least we are all trying). So seriously, stop making dumb moves, please. Jesus.

Dreamthistle and Molten Weapons alternative

Another thread about things being too expensive in the guise of RNG complaint. If you don’t want to play lottery then either buy 1700 – 2000 gems and convert to gold, or spend 2-4 days and farm the 80 – 100 gold needed to buy it off the tp. These are great looking skins, so either pay where the money’s due, or work for it, but don’t come on the forum to suggest alternative methods in guise of getting rid of RNG just so you can get them without putting in any effort. It’s an insult to both the developers and to those who worked to get their skins.

Stupid idea, people worked for their legendaries to show their work, if you can turn it off there goes half the point.

While you are at it, why not make it so you can hide titles? Map achievements? What about certain types of armor? I find alot of them ugly, or certain races? Big characters block my vision alot more than legendaries, can I choose only to see Asuras? Why not just hide everything altogether?

With all the hateful and disgusting imagery and comparisons in the OP I can only assume it’s less about appearance and more about you not being able to get a legendary, and would like an option to not see them so you are not constantly reminded of something you can not achieve.

Either way, dumb post.

Right now every single fractal level is day time, even when it’s clearly night such as the snow level. It would be nice to have either a day/night cycle or at least make certain stages set to night so weapons that react to night such as ascalonian weapons and eternity and other things such as sigils of the night have a chance to work in fractals.

How you prevent players from buying gold to goldsellers ?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Antinegative.4872

Antinegative.4872

The exchange rate is the biggest problem currently and can also become the biggest solution against gold sellers. First of all, the actual price of gems shouldn’t matter too much because it’s being generated by Anet and is therefore free income for them, and they are actually limiting their profit because of how horrible the exchange rate is that no one will buy gems for any reason. Second, although many people like myself would prefer or even outright refuse to use gold selling services, they can not bring themselves to buy ingame gems for gold either because how ripped off they feel. I personally would love to be able to support Anet through purchasing gems because they are the ones who made a great game and they deserve the profits, not others, but I can not bring myself to buy any gems because currently spending $1.25 will net you you about 50 silver, where at almost any gold selling service the same amount of cash would yield about 4 gold, making it a 6-8 times price difference between the official and the black market price. Therefore I really implore Anet to adjust the exchange rate into something reasonable, because alot of people would love to support and profit you for the game you made, but doesn’t because the prices you set are completely out of reason.

Thief 3 second invisible immunities not working properly.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Antinegative.4872

Antinegative.4872

Actually I just tested cloak and daggers and other invisibility abilities on my thief, the 3 second immunity starts when you cast your ability, not when invisibility ends, so there’s nothing to prevent you from using permanent invisibility as long as you have good timing. If the idea was to stop thieves from stacking invisibility instead of simply refreshing it as fast as cooldown allows, that is not functioning either. Because as long as the abilities you are using in combination is different, it completely ignores the 3 second immunity from the start, which means you can stack up to 9 seconds(12 seconds if you trait meld with shadows) with cloak and daggers, shadow refuge and blinding powder. So I’m not sure what was the actual intention of the devs of adding the 3 second stealth immunity, but it sure is not working in any way I can think of.

Thief 3 second invisible immunities not working properly.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Antinegative.4872

Antinegative.4872

This immunity was to prevent thieves to stay invisible almost constantly, but it’s not working in some cases. Many thieves in spvp can use cloak and dagger repeatedly and appear only for a split second before vanishing again. I’ve also experienced this on my thief as well. Some time the 3 second immunity prevents me from using invisibility right away again, where sometimes I can chain together 2 – 3 invis abilities simply by accident, and I have no idea what causes it. This needs to be fixed so thieves do not have permanent invisibility in sPvP and only appears when they hit someone.
