There was this time were there were 2 two armies camping outside our spawn point, full of acs, and because we were invulnerable, everybody just stood there spamming emotes. No fighting as that is not what WvW and the tournament are about. It is about politics. It is not in the screenshot, but later we held a referendum, there was a debate, a political campaign, an election. #goodtimes

I was in the bottom of t2~3 server for a long long time before I transfer.
Trust me, I see this A LOT, way more than you could ever imagined.
This might be news for one certain stacking server, but it is no news for others.

Dude, don’t ruin it. We are exchanging war stor… sorry, politics stories here.
In related news, I read somewhere that C-SPAN is acquiring the TV rights for Season 3 of WvW.
Imagine, you will be able to see your toon not fighting and spamming all those emotes for the whole country to see. The possibilities!

Of course it is acceptable and legal, but in Economics it is still considered asymmetric information and thus a market failure. In a market economy, the regulatory agent usually takes actions to prevent this by trying to make as much information as possible available, but economic agents still can buy and sell at the price they want. And lazy people will always be lazy and not read the information even if available.

To the OP, I also have a Master in Economics, and a PhD, and I agree on the cause of the price increase as you said, but you are forgetting something about market forces. If the sellers put the price too high they would not be able to sell it and because new supply is being created all the time (precursors continue to drop) the price will go down again until it reaches the equilibrium price but not to the same levels as before, because as you said, the demand curve also shifted. In a market economy, the price will always be in equilibrium in the medium to long term.

Currently, it is very easy to decrease the price of items that are supplied in great quantities due to asymmetric information. Because the way the game shows the information when you sell an item people will tend to select the Match Lowest seller option thus creating an adverse selection problem. The price can be easily manipulated by selling low quantities of the item at a very low price and profit due to the price difference with the real market price when you resell it.
Currently the only way to avoid this is to first select the Buy More from TP every time before you sell an item to be able to see the real market trend of that item.
This can be easily solved by showing the sell prices and quantities of the items in the sell option screen.

Not entirely true, at least for NA Gold. The server with the best overall coverage isn’t going to win (matter of fact, best case scenario only gives it a tie for third) – of course, it required a ton of coordination and alot of trust to pull it off, but it worked.

Except that NA Gold proved how to best manipulate the system. The system simply doesn’t work and hasn’t for a long time. For the record it wasn’t only NA Gold where this was happening.

It’s all a matter of perspective, I suppose. “Manipulate the system” for you is the same as “keep the overstacked server from winning” for me.

Also, NA gold is the only tier which is coming down to Week 9 to determine who wins. Every other tier’s winner was solidified weeks ago. I take that as a positive thing, not a negative one.

Edit – for the record, I agree wholeheartedly with you about the system not working.

The moment a 2v1 alliance is in the first tier the 1st and 2nd position is already set in stone, as they will never leave that tier by trading wins, and there is not any possible way to counter that. How is that an improvement?.
It is illogical to think 2v1 is good in this specific case. We are not talking about two small serves joining to have a chance against a big one, two David against a Goliath. We are talking about three high population servers.
Or to say that it was to counter coverage, because if that was the case then there would not have been a 2v1 during prime time.
In other words, stop trying to pass on the illusion that you are the heroes who slayed the big dragon to save the village. It was all about the loot.

I agree that Foot in the Grave, at least for this build, is great. With 57% Crit Chance plus an additional 20% from Furious Demise it goes to 77% in DS. It makes a lot of critical damage (plus healing) and the stability allows you to move in DS inside the enemy zerg for additional tagging and damage.
I changed weapons to axe/dagger following Narkodx’s suggestion and the first trait in Soul Reaping is now Vital Persistence (thanks Scarran).

My aim is to have a lot survivability, lots of aoe for tagging, high critical. It also helps the zerg by removing boons and applying conditions (blindness, poison, daze, vulnerability, cripple, inmobilize, chill).
Usually I start with the Wells (Suffering, Corruption) and Staff 2 and 3, then I go into Dead Shroud and use 4 and 5. Then it is plague and spamming 2 (I love this as not only it tags a lot but makes them blind so they can’t hit the zerg) then it is back to wells.
This build gives stability when entering DS, and you can also remove conditions with your heal and with staff 4.
I hate to have to put Signet of the Locust into this build but I find that without your own Swiftness you can easily go to the tail of the zerg where you can’t get your allies’ swiftness and also if you die you can become easy target for roaming foes when going back to the zerg. With this build you have permanent 25% swiftness plus you also have 33% with Locust Swarm.
For healing you have Consume Conditions and Signet of Locust which gives you health based on the number of nearby foes (great when in the middle of an enemy zerg). You also receive additional health every time you kill an enemy (which you will do a lot) and every time you critically hit.

I don’t know if 1v1 would be better or not, that is for the devs and the players after testing to decide.
Forget about this season and who did what or say that. Dead and buried.
But let´s analyze the next WvW season under ceteris paribus on the current trend. NO NAMES, it is just an analysis.
Let’s suppose that the 4 top servers of each league will make an alliance for 2v1. On the first day, on the top tier of each league there will be an alliance, and by taking turn on winning/losing they will always be on the top tier for the whole season. That means that on day 1 we will already know the contestants for the 1st and 2nd place. Nobody can do anything to change that outcome regardless of staking/coverage/skill/guild buying/server blackout/whinnying/ etc.
The other alliance will never actually have the opportunity of doing 2v1 because they will never share the map.
Because the server playing against a 2v1 that week (which will change each week) will be facing an unwinnable situation and the player’s leisure time is limited (let’s assume they consider it valuable) they will have very little incentive to play on that week, so we will probably be seeing empty maps on borderland on the top tiers.
Then only real battle on the top tier will be on the 9th week to decide the 1st and 2nd position.

The problem is that if 2v1 becomes a thing in WvW, then it will soon turn to 2v0. Then there are two outcomes: either they keep the alliance in which case we will be seen empty maps or they will have to fight each other on 1v1v0. In the latter case, it would be better to just change the mechanics to 1v1.

I am in the process of making my ascended armor and I would appreciate your opinion on which armor to get taking into account the coming patch. I usually do WvW, PVE, Dungeons and FOTM. Would it be better going for Cavalier and a Hammer or Berseker and a GS/axe?
I enjoy playing both so I am looking for their merits and demerits. Thanks!
