Considering the artists took the time to create a unique outfit for each race and gender, 1k seems very fair!
Can partially confirm. I have two sylvari characters (thief and elementalist) and the texture issue happens on my ele, while the thief has no problems.
- The rectangular patch seems to switch between one of three textures.
- Texture issue always present on the hero panel preview, but in-game sometimes instead of a different texture, I get a differently colored rectangle (see top right image).
In terms of game mechanics, I think GW2 is on the casual/“easy” side. There are however plenty of things (legendaries, achievements etc) for players to work towards if they wish to dedicate more time to the game.
Ironically, I have met more “elitist” players in-game than in any other game. People like to feel that they are good/better at something.. with content being accessible and doable by the vast majority of players, some hardcores are ‘creating’ prestige by nit picking, putting down players that display anything short of their idea of perfection.
I swap freely all the time, especially on my Mesmer.
I get more damage if I set up phantasms from two different weapon sets, and switch between getting in for heavy damage/kiting when I need to heal. This applies for both PvE and PvP, although I switch much more actively in PvP.
With my Ranger my choices are axe or shortbow, and I just swap depending on whether I’m fighting a single target or aoeing.
Currently my main MMO is EVE Online. I love the fact that if you lose a ship you lose it for good (although I don’t love losing ships.) Add that to the fact that you are never really completely safe while in space, even in high sec.. your decisions matter that much more, and blowing up someone else’s ship also means that much more.
I do not miss some of the super grindy RPGs I played in years past, though. For me, it’s not about how much time I spent playing the game as much as what I did with my time.
Cutest Asura? I don’t stand a chance. xD
Especially not against Zojja. oAo
Exp
- Explorable mode – the more difficult version of a dungeon that is unlocked after completing story mode, and can be run for tokens which are then turned in for unique weapons/armor.
- Experienced – typically means ‘having completed this content before,’ thus knowing what to do and how to do it quickly.
It gets pretty confusing when people spam for groups in map chat but they aren’t clear about which ‘exp’ they mean!
There is a sylvari ele in my guild called Mixed Vegetables.

When are reserved Guild Wars 1 character names going to be freed up for general use?
The date was originally said to be launch day, but we are now several weeks past.
Thanks if anyone can answer this.
