If we can’t make posts that question the actions of parties that will remain nameless but control the game we seem to enjoy playing with out said posts getting deleted and having our accounts infracted or banned…

How are we supposed to have an open dialog about what is happening with the game?
Are we to accept what happens? Do we let “them” do as they please and have zero recourse to give feedback or get support from other players?

If someone on the game can be offended by the use of a religious term, then I find that I am offended by the thought that a Dev or Mod would rename an offensive account name to something that is a blatant and intentional misspelling of “Coffin for Smith”.

It is incredibly disrespectful and in very poor taste. That name is truly offensive and should be changed immediately.

I also find the fact that someone who is supposed to uphold the rules and prevent such offensive things from being allowed was able to make such a name forced upon a person’s account. Whoever was responsible for this account name change should be harshly reprimanded. This should NEVER be tolerated by the community or ANet.

Sometimes exploits/bugs aren’t fully fixed on the first try (or even the next few), and posting about them just encourages/educates people to see if it still works.

For potentially damaging exploits/bugs, there’s probably a good reason to keep them secret.

There is a difference between bugs and exploits (im not saying this cuz i think you dont know but so i can make this point).

Bugs that are fixed should absolutely be expressly explained so that we know what is going on. At present we have no idea what bugs they fixed and what bugs still exist. As well, telling us what they fixed lets us go check and confirm that its done or that their fix didnt work or broke something else in the process.

I can understand the reasons people are giving for not being explicit about what exploits have been fixed. And that said i can let go of that particular complaint. I still think that if they fixed it as well as they think they did we should be told – but im willing to let that go.

Stealth changes and bug fixes should be expressly commented on so that we know what has happened and can help them to be sure its done and done correctly. Im sure that both they and we would like a bug free game (it will never happen, but we would all like it) and by communicating what they do with us we can help that to happen. By hiding behind a vague statement all they do is breed mistrust and distaste, when they could be sponsoring assistance and constructive help.

I strongly feel (you may not agree) that a large problem with the state of the game at the moment is the communication between Anet and the players. So many (though not all) of the whining and moaning threads and complaints could be stopped and prevented if they communicated better with us on what is happening and we felt we were actually being listened too. I constantly see thread antagonizing Anet for deleted posts and threads. I don’t actually believe this is happening, but the mistrust is making people feel its possible. I really feel this is because they have forced us into a state of mind where we don’t trust them – for a variety of reasons.

Anet if you’re listening – communicate with us, foster a trusting relationship please. We want to help make GW2 what it should be. We truly want to help but often times we really feel like you don’t care or aren’t listening. And I’m not just speaking about the forums, I’ve heard many arguments that the forums don’t include the opinions of all the players and it’s true.

I actually disagree,

Exploits and (uncommon) Bugs don’t need further exposure.

If they fixed the exploits and bugs then telling us what got fixed isnt going to hurt them or us. If they did their job there should be no problem telling us what got changed.

One of the largest complaints going around is the non-transparency that Anet has apparently adopted. They stealth nerf and alter things constantly and make no mention of it. In most cases its warranted and needed. The fixes aren’t the problem, the problem is them doing things and not explaining what or why to the players. We pay them to make the game, and as such we deserve to be told what is happening with it.

Its no different than government, it doesn’t exist with out the people and when it does things behind our backs we get angry and eventually it leads to a revolt.

If the have a reason to change something and they spend the time to make that change in the game code, then they can take 30 seconds to add a line to a text file somewhere that becomes the patch notes. It isn’t hard or time consuming to quickly type one line that explains what the coder/dev just altered in the game. I understand that some things get changed and then may not go live for a few weeks or months, waiting for a few patches till they are sure or ready. It complicates things yes, but it doesn’t make it incredibly difficult to come up with a method that works for your team to be sure that patch notes explain EVERYTHING that got changed.

I am not personally asking for a 3 page description of the 2 lines of code they added in to fix some bug, but the mention of the bug that got fixed should happen.

Stealth changes to the game alienate the players and make many of us angry that things are happening with a game we love to play and have PAID for that we cant see. It raises questions such as “well if they changed that and didn’t tell us what else happened or happens that we know nothing about?”

tl;dr
Transparency breeds trust. What they are doing breeds distaste and possibly worse.

im personally hoping this was an unintentional change, i really cant see what it would serve to alter this. if this was intentional what was being fixed here? was there some exploit with previewing? i cant see how and its flatly insane and insert expletive to disallow us to preview armor that character cant wear.

This is incredibly dangerous to your GW2 account and to your email account in general.

I’ll assume you are honestly looking for help with said issue, but the appearance of what you asked along with an obviously trash email account is highly suspicious. I can understand not wanting to use your personal email for safety reasons, however that very reason is what makes this look very dangerous.

To anyone who reads this and chooses to help with the survey (assuming its real) please do NOT use your personal email for this. Do NOT use the email tied to your gw2 account, online banking, or any other valuable information. Be certain that the email you use is a trash email with a password that you do not use anywhere else and is in no way connected to anything of yours that could be valuable to you.

If this is a real request for help then i apologize for sounding this way and wish you well. Prudence demanded that someone warn others of the possible danger.

Am I the only person that's been sorely disappointed with this event?

I am sorry that you had irl issues that prevented you from participating in the event, and I really don’t mean this to sound mean spirited…

You self admitted that you have only played this mmo, I can tell you from years and years of experience in many mmos that this halloween event was one of the largest, most well thought out, and coolest holiday event any mmo has ever done. That’s not to say it didn’t have a few problems (I wont list them because they aren’t important to the point, but yes they were there). This may have been a disappointment for you personally due to your life issues interfering, but that doesn’t make it Anet or Gw2’s fault. Had you had some patience you definitely would have gotten a hat, and been able to do several of the event – at least to experience them if not to fully complete every thing. The largest thing that I gathered from your post ( and if I’m wrong then I apologize) was that you simply misunderstood or had little to no patience to learn what was going on or how to participate. That is simply a fault on your end. There is a wiki full of information and players are generally very helpful to people that want to figure out what to do for an event. Had you taken a few minutes on the wiki or asked around you would have had a much easier time and spent less time being unsure of what you could do or how to do it.

That said – they have placed an NPC in the game where you can get your hat if you didn’t get one from MKT.

Again, I am sorry that real life stopped you from enjoying one of or the best holiday event in a mmo, but that does not make it anyone’s fault. Simply bad luck on your part, and faulting Anet for that is just wrong and wholly incorrect. The time difference sucks, but I can tell you having a few in-game friends from your area that the time difference made few issues for them. You have to remember that regardless of what date it is for you – all the events and times are server based.

Halloween will come next year, and Wintersday is coming up soon. I do hope you get a chance to experience these events more so in the future.

Thank you Anet

After having experienced the MKT fight, again I have to say thank you Anet. Whiners and moaners /ignored, can’t read and complaining about issues with something that hasn’t been out for more than 20 min.

Awesome fight (finally got to fight MKT, something I’ve wanted to do since gw1) and lootz for a fast, easy, fun fight.

Anet – keep doing what you’re doing. I know you are working hard to fix the issues and so do many of us. We are behind you.

Halloween events in other games will never be as epic as this.

I understand the argument that eles have 20 skills and 40 with swapping would ‘maybe’ be wrong. This is why out of combat swapping is the way to go (i think). We’d still only have 20 skills, but be able to conveniently swap weapons – which we ALL already do with the inv or h while out of combat. Its not asking to be able to use those extra 20 skills, its asking to not have to go through those extra steps when we want to switch weapons.

I’m not sure if this is allowed ><

I found someone who had posed this somewhere else and thought I would put it here for others who would like it. I take no credit for this, just re-posting.

Copy paste this into the game chat and you can preview the armor. Some of the links seem to be odd for me, but if you click and preview it will work.

I just wanted to say thanks to Anet for the awesome Halloween events so far (and totally looking forward to act3/4). I know a lot of people have said some awful things (and even I get frustrated and think them :P), but so far this Halloween in-game event has been the best I’ve ever seen in an mmo.

Thank you all for working so hard and making such an awesomely fun event for us. I have no clue if any of you guys at Anet will see this post, but I hope you know there are plenty of people playing who love what you’ve done and love the game.

I may not agree with every decision, there are certainly some things I haven’t enjoyed, but GW2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played and I can’t wait to see what you guys do from here. I know in time things will be made right.

Thank you Anet!

I want to put my voice behind out of combat swapping.
Lock the swap any time we are in combat. It doesn’t grant any extra power in combat. All it would do is stop the entering our inventory to get to the weapon ( or using h).

Please, Please Anet think about this. We aren’t asking to be stronger in this, we just want the convenience that every other class has.

Side note:
While I don’t actively play one, engineers should probably have this mechanic too (ooc swapping).
