I feel like there is no idea what the players really want in WvW

I think one of the problems is that monetisation of WvW content is virtually non-existent, and thus, not as profitable as updates to PvE content (quaggan backpacks, anyone?).

When was the last time you (as a player of WvW) used the gemstore to buy items for or related to WvW? Quite possibly never, because such items do not exist for us. On a side note, can most of us even afford to buy gems with gold? Because I spend around 90% of my time with less than 2g due to the costs involved with WvW.

It is clear that the current visible output into matters relating to WvW are much lower than those relating to other aspects of the game – although perhaps players of sPvP share our pain. The last major update concerning WvW off the top of my head was… ballistas shooting candy canes for Wintersday.

It is also clear that their main priority for the immediate future is to squash bugs and “clean up the house” so to speak, before any major content updates arrive.

If you haven’t read previous thread, both SBI and JQ do this rez thru the door thing. It was discussed before and considered legit strategy because if you consider this illegal then you must surely consider aoe, catapult or swinging sword thru door illegal as well because it operates under the same principle

I sure hope to hell that no decent SoS player would consider that a legit strategy. Whatever has been discussed or used by other servers/players/guilds does NOT mean that we should stoop to those tactics.

Hills keep on SoS Borderlands.

Excellent defence by BG, nothing more needs to be said.

I had an amazing time in BG Borderlands today, definitely the best fighting I’ve seen since I started WvWing! Extremely well coordinated HB zergs hitting vale supply camp during NA prime kept us busy; JQ opened strongly during reset on BG borderlands but it’s a shame they couldn’t come out stronger during oceanic prime.

During the 12 hours since reset, the WvW pie has almost always been cut into thirds, it’s quite impressive. Let’s hope the rest of the week plays out like this (with a slightly bigger slice of pie for SoS, of course)

After an 11 hour WvW stint I feel exhausted (if only PvE was this exciting!) – a shout out to our row of defenders on bay wall during oceanic prime, I promise to pay the 10 silver to all of you

See you on the battlefield!

Edit: Definitely some of the most impressive portal bombs I’ve seen have come from Blackgate, excellent coordination and execution.

Rewards for upgrading?

I agree that it’s hard for any single player to justify the cost of upgrading towers/keeps, but there are cheaper options (from 10s) available upgrading supply camps.

My recommendation is to join a WvW guild in order to enjoy WvW fully. In my guild, we recommend donations into the guild bank to help fund our siege and upgrade efforts, because let’s be honest: playing WvW is an extremely large goldsink as a guild.

The upgrades on towers/keeps are done by officers within the guild using the guild bank, meaning that the lower members do not have an obligation to go around spending their gold fortifying structures. This also allows officer discretion on which towers/keeps to fortify, and with their commander tags it allows them to rally troops in defence of said structure.

Week of 11/16: SBI vs JQ vs SOS

Hi, what was otherwise an excellent battle in Jade Quarry Borderlands has been marred by some unfortunate behaviour. One, and I suspect more, people have been building flame rams next to the supply depots for no apparent reason, other than to I suspect, deliberately drain supply and to reach the siege cap.

This happened at ~10:30-11:00pm Sydney time on the JQ borderlands in the SoS server.
If anyone knows this person, please implore them to stop. And if it’s a deliberate tactic by someone from another server, I hope you understand it’s not conducive to a healthy competitive environment.

And as an addendum, I’ve heard that there were people who hopped into golems and jumped them off SoS borderlands garrison.

And as a further addendum, it has been amazing playing against JQ and SBI so far, the battles have been pretty tense and the sieges have been pretty fun, both offensive and defensive, hope this will continue all week!
