I wanted to get Greatsword for my Necro but I have to give up on Reaper because my current build is perfect. I simply can’t choose which trait line to get rid of, I must keep them all, lol. I will try GS for fun but I’m 99% sure I will keep my current build.

What is this “perfect build” you speak of?

I’m curious why they don’t solve it by giving people who have rightful access to it a red (or different colour) portal gem that goes to the access. Or unlocks in in warddrobe. Add something small rather than edit existing stuff.

I believe we should also consider that we’re not getting that much.

Arenanet is trying to get new players, not caring much about veteran players.

Arenanet’s concession has been he character slot.. but only for people who pre purchase the game. They want people to buy it before it comes out because otherwise they might wait until all the bugs are out. Which means they’ll have to actually invest additional time and money into fixing things fast.

Remember that Arenanet has been known to leave certain things for long periods of time. Necro’s have been pathetic in PvE almost since the start (don’t know how much the latest patch helped but Condition builds are still a joke). Hall of Monuments has been disabled for quite a few months (it doesn’t give them any money and is only for veterans). By getting people to prepurchase they don’t have to fix expansion flaws as quickly.

We don’t know how much PvE content we’re getting. It might just be 2-3 open world areas. That’s practically nothing.

All we’re really getting are Guild Halls, Masteries, the Revenant, extra legendaries and the ability to glide. Don’t expect too much from the ability to glide.

I don’t know if I’d pay over 35 euro. And since the thread on not buying HoT until they give us a better deal is the most upvoted thread (over 3000) in the entire subreddit I think I’m not the only one.

Well, you should do what a lot of people are doing. Refuse to buy HoM until they bring further concessions.

After the first wave of protests they gave a free character slot to those who pre purchase. And that was just days afterwards. We should hold back until they give us a better deal.

I think that Axe is mostly handy for filling up on Lifeforce for Death Shroud builds.

No idea if it’s still good though.

Or could I get all my HoM stuff in my wardrobe so I can actually use it?

It’s a bit sad that I can’t access gear I worked so hard for.

Living World – Features = Living Story.

So in this case they are pretty much the same.

I’m not going to convince you, and you’re not going to convince me.

The important thing is we show our views no the matter. Perhaps Arenanet might decide to alter how they do things in the future because it increases the chance of people getting other people to join. Or perhaps they’ll decide that the current course is the best.

Just when I for some berserker pieces for my necromancer :p With this and the removal of the stack limit for bleeding and such Condition Necromancer becomes interesting again. Might have to raise my tailoring so I can make Sinister armour.

There’s something I’m wondering, are stats on runes culumitive or does only the highest count?

Heavy, Medium, Light Armor - why?

Usually light armour classes have benefits (usually higher damage) that heavy armoured classes don’t have. In exchange heavy armoured classes get more innate damage resistances.

I’m not sure how well this works in GW 2. It works with Elementalists vs Warriors and Guardians (more raw damage but fragile as glass) but not so well with other classes. Warriors for example seem to do more damage than Necro’s and Mesmers, even though it also outdoes them in damage resistance.

Someone who’s spend more time checking out profession balance might be able to clarify it though. I play with the “this looks fun” idea.

Oh, there is one thing that truly bothers me. According to my understanding, there will be no more new content for people who don’t buy the expansion. Although what I really hope is that they meant no more living story. Either way I think it’s wrong. There should be living story for people who didn’t buy the expansion.

Sure, you can say that they can just shovel the money for it but, for some people I know 50 euro is a LOT of money. As in “I’m going to have to find cheaper food” kinda money.

People who buy the game should get the game as advertised. And it was advertised as having a living story. Not “Living story until we put out an expansion”.

Apparently they’re working on it. There was a bug recently where people could get titles and skins they weren’t supposed to have access to. As a result nobody can get them until arenanet sorts it all out.

To not spend money on LS, it’s your choice of course; what you are missing are only the achievements. So yes, you can take a break and not spend any money and still enjoy it.
If missing the achievements is “missing too much”, it’s debatable and entirely personal.

You can still play through all LS2 missions with a friend/guildie who has it (and chances are, you have at least one :P).

Maps are free of charge, forever (with all events/collections etc…)

Oh, a friend of mine bought them so I plan on doing them with him. More because he wants the help though and it gives us something new to do.

It’s more a principle thing for me really.

On the plus side, even though I find it a very distasteful practice… relative to many other MMOs it’s not so bad. I just choose to hold Arenanet to a higher standard.

I’m going to agree with the op. I do not consider it a good move on arenanets part. One of the good things about GW 2 was that it wasn’t going to be like other MMOs. I should be able to have a break for a while and still go back to it without missing too much.

When I bought GW 2, I expected to have all the content within it. Like in GW 1. I consider the living story part of it.

I will not pay $20 for it, I will not pay 10 dollars for it. I will not grind for hours to get enough gold to get it with ingame money.

I will simply keep it in mind next time I decide whether or not to invest more money into GW 2 or whether or not to recommend it to a friend.

That’s a consumers power. Whether or not he decides to spend his money.

I’m finding it annoying as well. there are a lot of skins I don’t have access to.

It shouldn’t be too hard to do it really. Clean wipe of those titles, and then re -link the GW 1 accounts to GW 2. That would give those who actually deserve it the titles/skins.

Well, now they REALLY need to fix the Necromancer. It would be a perfect match. I don’t think the skin would work as well with Elementalists or Mesmers and Revenants can’t wear it.

Bought a new sword and wanted to get my free Firey Dragon Sword skin for it: CTD.

Apparently you might be able to still use some of the HoM skins through the wardrobe function. I had a similar problem.. thank god I had my sword unlocked

I’ve only recently rejoined the game but… it seems to me that people are complaining because they had so little to lose… and they were still diminished.

Take $50 from a professional lawyer and he’ll be annoyed.

Take $50 from a mother who’s working 3 jobs to keep a roof over her families head and you might have cost them dinner for 3 nights.

The last one will have a lot more to complain about.

If you’ve already unlocked the skin on your account (i.e. you’ve used it before), then you can apply it for free from the wardrobe screen in the [H]ero panel.

Unfortunately, I haven’t used most of the skins for quite a while so… something I will rectify when possible.

Fortunately though, I did use the longsword skin! My Asuran warrior thanks you!

First of, let me say I’m grateful I resisted the urge to sprinkle a bit of latin in here. I almost used the suffix “phile” instead of lover.

Second, how do you deal with liking the weakest profession in the game?

I’ve come back from not playing the game for almost two years and almost nobody has anything good to say for the Necromancer except for WvW. They bring nothing special to PvE, contribute the least in dungeons. I looked at what seemed like highly regarded builds and even they seem like they’re just trying to compensate for a poor class. People seem to have given up on Arenanet fixing the Necromancer class.

So what do you do? Continue playing Necromancers? Have you switched classes?

I myself am leveling a guardian, and a Mesmer, and thinking of finishing my Warrior as well as they seem to be more useful in dungeons.

I hope they fix the Necromancer class though. It’s not all bad. It’s a very tanky class (I was often the last one alive during a wipe) and I remember saving a dungeon run by applying a bit of fear, scaring the mobs away from an NPc we were supposed to protect. Or Signet of Undeath stopping the party from wiping.

With enough teamwork it becomes easier, however I have found that damage, sheer damage makes it a lot easier. Shut down a few of the enemy and it becomes a lot easier. However with insufficient damage… they take down one of yours and the rest of the group fall down like dominoes.

I thought that skillpoints (which are usually gained by levelling) could be used to get other things, for example legendary weapons)? I do agree with gold rewards though, I would really like those to go up. I find myself wondering whether it’s even worthwhile travelling to low level events because of wp costs.

I do enjoy doing them regardless of what loot I get though. I play this game so I can do things, and kill things. Not for loot.

Really though think about this, as it stands right now if you are logged in as a level 80 character there is literally ZERO point in doing a world event that doesnt drop a chest. This is for a number of reasons such as:

1. EXP is useless to a level 80, karma too(karma mostly useless for anyone)
2. Rewards in silver dont even cover armor repair/waypoint costs(going to need to raise rewards in silver to at least 15 per event, to cover WP cost and armor repairs of exotic armor)
3. No chest means no loot worth getting 99% of the time, as loot drop off mobs is still ridiculasly low

As to the original post, you could see it as people acting according to character. Some people, are heroes, they save people because they are heroes. Other people are.. otherwise motivated. They would increase the risk in order to squeeze extra incentive from those they would save.
