I feel like trying to release a new map with every LS episode represents too big of an effort that affects storytelling and gameplay. Map is huge, and even though is hard to navigate (like Tangled Depths), I find it enjoyable. But if I manage to finish the episode and get map completion in a single afternoon, there’s little incentive left to keep playing the map besides some missing achievements and the new currency.

As some people stated, the storytelling was “meh” at best. Very important events happening too fast, very little buildup for these and some questionable decisions (Kasmeer comes back after months and then she goes “sorry I can’t”, and vanishes again? xD).

Even with that, I found the last instance really enjoyable, and having that “presence” in the background felt pretty cool.

This may be only personal preference, but I believe it might help to alternate LS episodes where there’s a new map (like this one, which story is kinda short) with episodes that use existing maps, but feature longer & better developed story/gameplay. These could work as a build up for next episode, where a new map is unveiled, improving storytelling overall. But the fact that I can finish 3 months work worth of content in a single afternoon (maybe 3 if you go for all the achievements) is a bit disappointing.

FPS Issues [Merged]

So I just started having massive FPS drops since this last update. I had no problems until now. My specs are:

i5 6500 3.2GHz
GTX 1060 6GB DDR5
16GB RAM DDR4 2133Mhz

I run every other game in Ultra fluently (80-100fps), and have been doing so with GW2 until today. I get frequent drops to 1 fps or even screen freezes for a couple of seconds.

Season 4 Ranked Matchmaking Change

Arkarian.1679

We’re not at a point where we’re able to discuss the changes we’ll be making to PvP Leagues for future seasons, but making rewards more accessible for casual players and making divisions prestigious and a more accurate indicator of skill are among our highest priorities.

Even more accessible than they are now? So that they don’t reflect neither dedication nor skill? Seems like the perfect approach to appeal to the PvP fanbase.

In the meanwhile, legendary armor is gated behind weeks and weeks of raiding (which I think it’s perfectly fine). But apparently PvP rewards should be awarded just for logging into the PvP lobby.

You should fix the division system so it purely reflects your skill level, and then gate the rewards behind divisions, so people are encouraged to improve, not to brainlessly farm PvP games.

But you cannot seriously pretend to turn GW2’s PvP into an eSport while rewarding in similar ways hardcore and casual players. Either you create a casual-friendly reward system and then abandon the eSport adventure (which is quite dead anyways tbh), or you gate rewards behind skill level to encourage competition/improvement, even if that means losing casual players in this particular game mode.

I quit.

I have a tough time believing that 30 seconds at most between major fights to flush out their inventory is too much work or takes too long. Slow down, don’t speed run it.

This is the whole problem right here. Players who want cash shop items for free, so they only do the most gold/hour content to gather as much gold they can to exchange for gems which in turn raises the cost of conversion so they need to grind even more. So when they shut down dungeons you all left cause you couldn’t get the gold so you could avoid spending cash. Cut back on the energy drinks and coffee shop chain fancy coffees and use that cash to buy gems. Then you don’t have to care about only doing the content with the highest gold/hr.

No, this is not the problem at all. People don’t want things for free, people want things at a fair price. I want to support the game buying gems with RL money, but right now I’m not doing it, because there’s no way I’m willing to pay 15€ for a couple of bank tabs or almost 10€ for a shared inventory slot.

I’m not saying this out of greed, I honestly believe ANet could make much more money if these items looked cheaper in RL money compared to buying them through gold.

I don’t want cash shop items for free.

I just don’t think $15 for 3 bag slots or nearly $10 for a single bank slot is reasonable.

I spent $50 on the cash shop last month. I am a supporter of buying things for real money and help anet fund the game.

Just this. +1

Honestly, I think the price of gems is way to high, but I understand that’s what ANet wants so you buy gems with RL money.

I would be willing to accept that IF buying gems with RL money was somewhat fair. But come on, look at the prices:

- Bank tab – 7,5€
- Bag slot – 5€
- Shared inventory slot – 8,75€
- Storage expander (+250mats) – 10€
- Home Instance nodes – 10€
- Character slot – 10€
- Endless gathering tools – 12,5€

Am I the only one who thinks everything in the gem store is way too expensive in RL money? For example, someone who plays the game daily would want 2 character slots (let’s assume he got 2 from HoT +5 from vanilla), 2 bank tabs, 3 bag slots for one of his chars and 1 storage expander. That’s 60€ for some basic account upgrades, not even talking of maxing the whole account or cosmetic stuff.

If you wanted to max your account (3x char slots, 13x bank tabs, 10x shared inventory slots -buying at x5 sale-, 7x storage expanders, 3x bag slot expansions on 9 chars, and I won’t even include the instance nodes and the gathering tools), it would cost you 367,5€. And then add cosmetics, gathering tools…

I’m sure they have their own research on this, but I find hard to believe that they are maxing their Profit using these prices. It’s just not consistent with their target player (casual, comes and goes frequently…). Hardcore players could be willing to play that, since the game represents a huge amount of their play time, but that’s not the majority of GW2 community.

I think that if they lowered these drastically many more people would be buying stuff with RL money, especially with the actual gold-gem exchange rate. Cause let’s face it, gold-gem exchange won’t go down by 50% to previous levels, that’s what ANet wants. But rn I think many people are not buying neither through gold nor through RL money.

Actually. there IS a way to get Mystic Clovers (Not coins, though) from just playing the game.

Yeah, too bad HoT legendaries require 250 extra mystic coins aside from those needed for Mystic Clovers, and those cannot be obtained by playing the game.

And btw, I’m not crafting any legendary atm, and I have 500+ MC sitting on my bank just in case. So I believe I’m being quite objective, and I still think there’s an issue with MCs.

They don’t need to be anything’ed, anet already said there is a good supply coming in. Just one guy is buying them all.
There is nothing stopping you buying them instead of that other guy, you just don’t seem to want to. Which is fine. The answer isn’t for anet to fix this tho, it’s for players to fix.
Imagine the issue only applies to you. You are saying “anet fix this for me”. Won’t happen. We have seen the same thing when people don’t have enough leather. Or laurels or orbs or whatever.

The merge just shows a mod has noticed a similar topic, nothing else.
If you need them go buy them. Or don’t. Still your choice.

Do you even bother to read other people’s arguments, or you’re just trolling?

1. This is not like leather or orbs. You can get them by playing the game
2. This is not like laurels, because there are alternative ways of getting everything sold by a laurel vendor.
3. How the hell can the players fix speculation, when speculators know how many MC’s there are in the market (TP stupidly shows it), but actual players don’t know how many MC’s there are in the game being hoarded?

You don’t want players to fix this, you want players to suck it up and buy them from speculators, which makes me think you’re a TP flipper.

No you should buy them whilst they’re 60 silver.
If you missed that window, you should buy them whilst they’re 85 silver.
If you miss that window.. well just pay 1 gold for them.

Why would you stop going for something? If you need 250 coins and you have zero, buy 250 coins.

Lol’d so hard at this. You’re clearly a TP flipper.

This has 2 possible fixes. Either ANet addresses the way Mystic Coins are obtained (by rewarding active gameplay), or they fix the Trading Post once and for all to get rid of speculators/flippers (for example by not letting you see the quantity available of each item at each price).

What’s stupid is that people who want to actively play the game are at the mercy of those who just play the Trading Post. And that’s ANet’s responsibility to fix, not the players.

Some people are just too blinded by the fact that they don’t want the price to go down (because they don’t want to craft legendaries). How can anyone validate the fact that you have to log in every day during a whole year to get a skin?

Anyways, the problem is on the ways of obtaining them, not on the tp price. Currently there’s no reliable way of obtaining them by playing the game, which shouldn’t be the case. ANet could add some way of getting them tied to gameplay, and take some (or all) of the MC flux out of the daily login, thus mainting the overall MC flux more or less the same. This way, prices could remain in a place where MC is still a valuable item (around 50s), but those who don’t want to buy them off the TP could actually obtain them by playing the game.

This is just like the precursor issue before the collections came. Either you gambled on the Mystic Toilet endlessly until you got lucky, or you buyed it on the tp for an unreasonable price inflated by speculators. IMO the MC issue is even worse though, because your only alternative to buy it from speculators is to log in for 1 year (twice for HoT legendaries), which doesn’t even require you to play the game. With the precursors at least you could still keep getting t5 mats by playing, craft t5 weapons with those and keep gambling, but with MC you have no alternative aside from TP.

So yeah, if they addressed the precursor issue, they certainly need to address this. Logging in for 1,5 years or paying 400g of MC for a HoT legendary? Come on that doesn’t make any sense.

It happened to me again, and this time was even worse.

The game kicks me out in the middle of the game (my connection was working perfectly but whatever). I log back in and we win. It’s not like I came back 15s before the match ended, I actually stomped the lord to win the game. Anyways, I get the game counted as a loss and I get dishonor.

This time was even worse because I was in a 6-win streak, so instead of winning 2 pips, I lost 1, so basically I lost 3 pips because the game decided to kick me out for no reason.

Can we get some dev to confirm if this is working as intended? While I can see they might want to prevent people from switching chars in the middle of the game, it is plainly stupid to get dishonor+loss if you come back with the same character and you win the game.

If this is actually how it’s supposed to be, next time I won’t even bother to launch the game again, because it doesn’t really matter if you help the team win since you’ll get the loss+dishonor anyways…

PS. I know it’s not the same issue as the OP, but they seem to be kinda related.

Not exactly what you mention, but since it may be somewhat related I don’t want to open a new thread.

Just played a game where I got a DC on the first loading screen. Managed to come back in the middle of the game (we were like 175-250 down) and we ended up winning. Still, I got the dishonorable debuff and the match counted as a loss (although the win counted for the league achievements).

Is that how it’s supposed to work?

Those of you sympathizing with the necro on this one are the single largest reason pvp in this game has done poorly. You are a toxic part of the community who would rather have a game filled with self-centered, inconsiderate tryhards than give less experienced players a break. Aside from perhaps crippling technical difficulties or other outside interruptions, there are almost no acceptable reasons to afk at the start of a match.

If you have a problem with the people you’re queued with by the game, find a team of like-minded people and party with them. Don’t clog solo-q with your gigantic egos.

Sorry but no.

League of Legends has become the most successful eSport probably in history while having the worst community in any game I’ve ever seen. So no, people being egocentric, competitive or even rude is not the reason for GW2’s PvP doing poorly. And by no means I’m trying to defend or aprove that kind of community, but it’s just how it is.

GW2’s PvP hasn’t achieved success due to many reasons, and one of them is what this thread is really about: matchmaking. Matchmaking in GW2 is simply awful, and it takes the fun out of the game when you have to play with someone else with far less knowledge and/or experience than what you have. It’s obvious that you won’t ever get 4 more players with the exact same level you have, but the differences within a team in GW2 are sometimes exasperating.

While I can understand people complaining about someone going AFK at base, I feel that unlike in League of Legends, the true root of the AFK problem is the matchmaking, not the community.

Going on with the LoL analogy, I’ve never ever gone afk or raged in that game, simply because I don’t get mad at other people’s mistakes/missplays (I make them too). On the other hand though, sometimes I get really frustrated in GW2 due to its matchmaking, and I would probably get mad in LoL too if I got matched with 4 other guys who simply went all mid and had no clue about simple strategy of the game. Fortunately, that never happens there, but it actually happens here: you see people who know how to rotate matched with people who have no clue of what they’re doing. And that just makes it impossible to enjoy playing that particular match.

CS.

picture says way more 27.

1 time at ogrwatch,1 time at outer sm, one time at inner sm, 1 time at lord room,1 time mendon, 1 time at wall on sm, 1 time at corridor sm, 1 time roaming around somewhere I cant remember xD.

(also everytime attacking sm you ran with zone blob, except 1 battle at wall sm:)

I would like also to apologhise for today 2v1 its just your blob decide to try to take my new keep piken square keep in eb:) and I decided with a happy farming zerg to stay and farm there for a very long time and elona grow a brain and stopped attack sm and our towers and decided to take your towers:)

a happy elona guy also said thanks for letting them take veloka tower without being wiped by sfr so he could get his map completion.

I’m glad to see some people trying to defame and lie about our guild, even celebrating wiping us. This means we’re starting to be relevant Otherwise, you wouldn’t even care about us. But I guess it’s the natural reaction after 2 consecutive weeks being farmed in 60+ massive blobs by an unknown guild of 20-30 members.

Furthermore, it’s kinda funny to see you trying to make people believe your lies talking about an unexisting screen and some made up wipe “you can’t even remember”.

On the other hand, we’ve been recording almost every night of gameplay since we moved to Piken some weeks ago, and our vids show pretty much the opposite you’re stating.

But go ahead, keep trolling It doesn’t really matter if you’re talking good or kitten about us, ‘cause as long as we’re being mentioned, that means we’re doing great.

Btw, you should stop writing and go defend that WP in SM… Oh, nvm, too late. Nice try keeping the whole server in there for the whole night though. I guess that wasn’t enough.

PD. I can tell you in advance that eventually we’re gonna wipe in the next few days, we’re not RG… Kudos for that! I guess you’ll feel forced to come and post it, so I’d want to thank you in advance for making us relevant

Authenticator Questions/Concerns [merged]

So the Google Authenticator that GW2 has decided to use for additional account security updated last night and it has the nasty side effect of wiping out all stored keys (d’oh!). Now, I am setting up new keys for my accounts but when I got to GW2 I ran into a huge problem. It asks for two consecutive codes from the old sequence before it can be removed from the account. I have no way of getting these codes since they keys were wiped.

So, what do I and others in the same situation do to remove the old authenticator and add a new one? I can also see something like this happen if a phone was lost or stolen, so this won’t be a one-time action.

Just had the same issue. I found no solution other than going to Account Recovery (https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery) and reset the authenticator.

You’ll have to provide the initial GW2 key you obtained when you bought the game.

PS: Quick shoutout to the leaders of RNV and CS. Hope you don’t mind the moa treatment you received one evening while attacking our garrison. It was just for the lulz

I recall that moment… Our raid leader was like: “oh kitten, moa… – What, again? – 3rd time, wtf is going on here?”

hahahah, that was pretty hilarious xD

Anyway, it’s been a great match-up. Too bad we didn’t manage to beat Elona in the end, but anyway I think we did a quite good week, far above our initial expectations (which were to end close to Deso).

By the way, we (BB) do not have any south-american guild covering the low-population hours. We tried several times to recruit them some months ago, but we were unsuccessful. Our nightcapping is only due to our habit to stay up late, and even so I find hard to criticise, as each server has some hours of high and less population. I don’t see any self-criticism from Elona for scoring 500+ after 6:00am doing PvD… Or you’re suggesting that night’s score is worth less than morning’s one? Just a matter of coverage.

Well, I’m glad we had this match-up anyway. Hope we match again in the near future!

I experienced a few of these bugs:

Path 1: I experienced this like 1 month ago, so I don’t know if it’s fixed (I suppose it isn’t), but when getting to the 9 immune Jotun’s that have to be brought to the light in order to be able to deal damage to them, 3 of them stayed as friendly NPC’s and we couldn’t advance through the dungeon.

Path 4: Here I experienced 2 issues. The first one, Lupicus resetting even though we were hitting on him. The second one, the sparks at the dwayna fight were randomly introducing or not to an empty cell when passing through these.
