Thank you very much. I’ll do that.
Though in frustration I deleted the ticket from my mail box. I guess I’ll submit another one.
No, I’m writing only about the one range. Anything outside the range is not a glitch, but does indicate you need to look into a possible security breach attempt. (Sorry I couldn’t put your mind more at ease!)
Thank you for the answer.
The network I have is local, it belongs to my ISP – which may mean I misclicked the remembering option by accident. I play daily and have had no problems, so I suspect it wasn’t an intrusion. I would think a hacker would get everything from my account as soon as they got access and the network is just sitting there.
The strange thing is I have always been careful about not ticking the box. I have talked to the people in my guild and one of them has exactly the same problem (a local network authorized) and also is very cautious about security.
Anyway, nothing really I can do but change my password, which I already did and scan my computer, which I already did as well.
I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the option to remove that network to be available soon.
EDIT: One thing that came to my mind now. When I changed my password using account management, it didn’t send me any email notice that the password was changed. Isn’t it supposed to do that? Or do we only get emails if we change the account email address?
(edited by Arlana.5423)
Well, then it really shouldn’t be an option that exists in the first place.
Which category did you use to report the problem? I used “account issues- other”, but I’m thinking “hacked account” might get me a better answer.
Regarding the two posts above me, the issue I can see with being able to delete authorized networks would be…what stops a hacker from deleting the true account owner’s authorization? Also, the support team here is extremely helpful and diligent (I can say that from firsthand experience unfortunately), so if an unauthorized user did add themselves, I’m sure support would quickly work with the true owner to make the situation right.
Sorry about the double post, but I didn’t see your post at first.
Two things:
1. The first thing a hacker does is they change password. So having your network authorized wouldn’t help you since you wouldn’t be able to log in anyway.
I’m not sure you checked your security tab, since it seems you are confusing “current logins” with “authorized networks”. Authorized network isn’t your current log in. It’s just a networked remembered so as to bypass email authentication. Unless I’m wrong, in which case I ask someone to correct me.
2. If you read my thread you can see how helpful support is sometimes.
I’m glad you didn’t have any problems when contacting support in your case. I, however, get the impression that my email wasn’t even read.
Unfortunately it could also work the other way. The hackers could gain access to your account, then log in here and delete YOUR network from the authorised list. It’d be too risky to have that functionality available without some additional checks.
How would that be a problem? If the hackers have your account email and the password, deleting the owner’s authorized network won’t change anything.
If I understand correctly authorizing networks lets you do only one thing: bypass email authentication. I actually wouldn’t mind if there was no option whatsoever to authorize any networks. I don’t mind opening my email and authorizing my log in attempt every single time I want to play – it makes me feel my account is more secure. Most people authorize networks out of convenience – so they don’t have to open the email, wait for the authentication mail, click a few times – without even realizing how much less secure their account is because of that.
Another problem is that ticking the box to remember a network doesn’t have any warning that you can’t delete it afterwards. I’m certain many people would think twice about doing that if they knew they won’t be able to remove it no matter what.
And if you look at other threads, many people are reporting authorized networks out of the blue without any signs of being hacked. Having an option to delete them from the list before someone uses them to access the account would be better than having to deal with a hacked account issue, no? Prevention is the key.
It looks like more people are having problems with authorized networks appearing out of the blue on their list without any symptoms of being hacked. Some reported the networks of hackers only now appearing on the authorized network list.
Yesterday it was confirmed that there was a glitch in the system that authorized ANet’s network on many accounts. I suggested that the glitch might have also authorized other networks by mistake, but got an answer that it has not. Still, the fact that more and more people are starting to report the same problem makes me wonder again.
Anyway, I hope you get an answer and the issue will be looked into some more. If you want to read and possibly post in other threads about it to draw the attention to the problem, here’s the list:
This is the thread where the glitch was talked about
This is my thread where I posted the reply I got from support
This is a three-months-old thread about a possibility to deauthorize networks with some current posts about networks appearing out of the blue
Here’s the last one I found
The problem is not many people check the security tab, so not many people notice a thing like an authorized network appearing suddenly without any explanation. I am hoping for a bug.
Scenario A: You want to play at work briefly. You authorize the network, but unknowingly someone was running a packet capture tool on the network and got all your info. They then can log into your account at any time from that location. Nothing you can do about it to revoke that network’s access permission. Scenario A is one of many possible scenarios, as player(s) won’t always be at home and will want to play even if at a different location (other than home.)
What makes the email authentication system look even weaker is that not everyone can get it enabled. I’ve seen people here say that they asked support to enable it but support told them to go to account > security and enable it there. But the option to enable email authentication is not there. Much like they told some people to go there to de-authorize a network.
So, A) the system only protects you from new locations randomly gaining access to your account. That is IF you can get it enabled in the first place. It also leaves you wide open with regards to a compromised computer/network. Completely undermining the security gain listed in point A)
The authenticator app for cell phones isn’t much better off in its current state either, but it is not finalized yet so there is still hope for it.
A simple misclick would be enough. The box for remembering a network is right under the button to allow access and if the network on my account is my mistake, then ticking the box doesn’t give any warning or confirmation messages as to what it does and that there is no way to reverse it (since I haven’t seen one).
Another thing is ticking the box out of convenience – some might not realize that while it makes the log in process a minute or two shorter, remembering a network makes an account less secure without any option to remove it from a list when needed. A warning message with a confirmation option would probably make a lot of people think twice before doing that as well.
According to Security, we will be able to extend this functionality in the future, but do not have a timeframe for when that option will roll out.
As always, take care with any authorizations, and we’ll expand features as we are able to do so.
Great news. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the option to be available soon.

Understood. Thank you very much for the answer.
I am hoping this was me misclicking somehow. The box for remembering the network is very close to the button allowing access – might be a good idea to put it in some distance to avoid ticking it by accident when wanting to authenticate a log in attempt.
For now my account seems fine, so I’ll just wait for the ability to remove it myself and change passwords more frequently.
When this anet IP appeared in my authorized network list I contacted support, asking them to remove it and a IP I no longer use. As of yet I have no helpful reply on it or promised action to remove (said authorized networks.) So far though, the general feel I have been getting from the support messages so far is that Anet has NO quick/simple way to manage authorized networks on a person’s account. If this is the reply I’ll get when they do come back, that’s seriously disturbing.
What is the point of them changing your email when they’re not going to revoke the hacker’s permission to log into your account? None at all. A changed email won’t protect you if the hacker’s authorized network is still on your account, neither will their authenticator.
You still got a more meaningful answer than me then.
You can read the answer I got in my thread.
Well, I have my answer from support. It was very fast – it took them 15 minutes to respond. I really wish it took some more time, since it seems the person replying hasn’t read my email:
My message:
“Dear Sir or Madam
After reading Gaile Gray’s posts in the following thread on the forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Authorized-Network-Question-66-162-136-255 I checked my account management page and I found an authorized network I did not authorize. It is the only authorized network on my account.
I have a dynamic IP address, so I would never authorize any network knowing it changes on a regular basis. Also, I have checked my account and it doesn’t seem to have been hacked in any way – my email authentication is still working, no missing items, gold or anything like that. I have changed my password just in case, but I don’t think there has been any intrusion of any kind. I have not ticked the “remember the network” option by mistake either, since I log in the game several times during the day and each time I’m asked to authenticate the log-in attempt. This has led me to believe that the glitch mentioned in that thread randomly authorized different networks for a number of people. Me being one of them.
I would like to ask for that network to be removed from my authorized networks list, so that I can feel yet again certain that my GW2 account in safe and secure.
Best regards
Arlana"

At this point I’m wondering if I should try to respond in any way.
An option for players to remove any authorized networks would be really really helpful. Now I need to check if my email authentication is still there – I don’t want it removed.
What if the authorized network is not of that range but has still appeared out of the blue?
Sorry about a bit of an off-topic question, but is it possible that is a glitch as well?
Also, will there ever be an option to just delete an authorized network from our list on our own?
Hi everyone.
After reading this thread I checked my account management page out of curiosity and I found an authorized network I did not authorize.
I have a dynamic IP, so I would never authorize any network knowing it changes on a regular basis. Also, I have checked my account and it doesn’t seem to have been hacked in any way – my email authentication is still working, no missing items, gold or anything like that. I have changed my password just in case, but I don’t think there has been any intrusion of any kind.
Also, before anyone asks, no, it’s not possible for me to have checked the “remember the network” option by mistake. I’m very careful about that since there is no way for players themselves to delete the network once it has been authorized.
Is it possible that the glitch in the system mentioned in the thread I linked has been greater than it is thought and randomly authorized networks for people? Does anyone have a similar problem with a network being authorized out of the blue without any sings of hacking?
I will be sending a ticket to the support to remove the network from my list, though this post fills me with fear that I will get a similar answer.
I’m not sure what else to do but to suggest giving players a way to remove authorized networks from our lists and to investigate the issue with the system further. This might be the way people have their accounts compromised after all. Again, I’d like to stress that I did not authorize any networks, neither on purpose or by mistake and my account does not seem to have been hacked in any way.
Thank you for your time
EDIT: Upon further investigation I figured out my problem.
Trillistar was correct: Doric’s Shrine POIs is hidden underneath Doric’s Waypoint. You can’t normally see it until you look very closely.
If you look at the zoomed in version of wiki’s Malchor’s Leap map and look carefully at Doric’s Waypoint in Karst Plains, you can see the edge of the POI in the upper left corner.
An option to turn off the icons for waypoints and skill points individually would solve the issue. Or just shifting the POI a bit in either direction, so that it’s more visible.
Thank you for all the help.
(edited by Arlana.5423)
@ zbrkesbr: Thank you for checking it. I do hope it’s not the case of one of the missions having a POI that doesn’t show on the main map. I thought they all did. Otherwise if you don’t hit the right sequence of missions you might get locked out of map completion and the rewards that come with it unless you join people with the specific mission that has the point – which, with several paths, might take a while.
@ Trillistar: It’s not a problem of me having an undiscovered POI and just not noticing it. I have all the 36 that are on the map, unless there are two that are in exactly the same place but on a different level, but then I have checked all levels of the map and no new point of interest showed up.
Thank you for the suggestions though. I will try doing the event on jinx isle – the point was added to my map as discovered when I swam close by, but maybe the game registers it again on the counter when the event is done? So that people don’t take the easy way of just swimming close to the island? That would explain 37 POIs on the counter with 36 actual points on the map. I will report if doing the event changes anything.
I have Augur’s Grotto.
Hi everyone.
As of yesterday’s patch I am stuck at mapping Malchor’s Leap.
The rollback reset a skill point at the Altar of Lies, but I was able to get it back. The problem is the map counter shows 36/37 points of interest, even though I have all the points of interest shown on the official wiki map of the area.
I have checked with a friend who has 100% map completion of Malchor’s Leap and we have exactly the same POIs. My friend doesn’t have any other additional POIs.
Here is where things get interesting. I have started counting the points of interest on the map and there are only 36 of them. I suspect that maybe one of them wasn’t placed on the map as an icon but is still counted by the game somehow? Without knowing which area of Malchor’s Leap I have to visit again (since I have uncovered it all), I have little chance of completing the map.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Does anyone have any ideas on what to do to get the map completion progress?
Also, I have stared at my map and the map on the wiki for so long that maybe I don’t see something obvious. Could anyone with a minute of spare time count their points of interest in Malchor’s Leap and tell me if there are 36 and the counter is bugged or if there are 37 and I’m just missing something?
SHORT VERSION: Players with 37/37 POIs in Malchor’s Leap, please help me out and count the points of interest on your maps. Are there really 37 POIs and I’m missing something or only 36 and the counter is bugged.
Thank you for your time.
