Buy every item on the TP, mark it all up 1000%, and institute a clause in the EULA that says you can be banned if I don’t like you. Start contest zones in WvW like “winner take all” where if you are defeated by another player they get your gear or “Net Arena” where you PvP with net guns on a collapsing bridge structure suspended over lava. Add heroes but only for the new areas. Make all the benefits of Anet employees the best available (having a kid: twenty-four months paid time off, in-house child care, and 90% medical expenses) in any reasonable field. Give the rest of the money to in-game contests.

Perky has a good point. I certainly don’t want to jeopardize a fair fight by losing good players on either side to silly infractions. Also, being on IoJ, this has been a good week to level alts and try new tactics/builds. I did break out the A-game for a few minutes today, though, to help counteract the lack of income. I hope to see all of you on the field.

It seems like if you could have a “heel” command in the pet Ui that would keep them closer to you most of these problems could be avoided.

I have been trying to get a few HotW armor pieces for my ranger lately. Frankly, I’m at the point where I’m just going to run it on my warrior, as even if it means more runs I’m less likely to be kicked and definitely completing the last boss in a 1/3 of the time my ranger would take. That being said, even the Ranger has had a couple successful runs lately. I’m sorry to hear you got unlucky with a PuG group, but you can see how the game isn’t ruined by other people’s bad attitudes.

As an IoJer who was on for the debacle at SM today, I can safely say some of the blame is on us. We definitely were still playing for first as a strategy, and although I wouldn’t say playing DH is an automatic loss for us (and those who say so are imo wrong), looking at tactics/point spread over the week made our strategy seem optimal, but in wvw, you usually have to count on strategy ending at attacking the guys with red names, and I’ve seen that one go over people’s heads. I do think in this thread it hasn’t been expressed ideally, but despite that and its failing, I think Nom had a respectable plan. Semantics aside, I certainly agree we may have come to a point where planning to attack NSP is the only reasonable action. Not out of anger over some injustice, but as a consequence of either having to defend against both unexpectedly or prepare for the inevitable. Supposedly, some people drive harder with emotion, so I’m not telling anyone how to feel. Kudos to all the good leadership today, as all three sides had some solid and impressive play.

I’m taking NSP’s aggression towards IoJ as a sign of respect. Even with DH having almost a 10k lead on both of us, they still know we’re too much of a threat to turn their attention elsewhere. That’s the price of strength I suppose. Now, we just have to live up to it.

Ahoy! I’m on IoJ and having a great time with these varied matchups. Looking forward to our much-deserved raise in rank and the possibilities available from the new data. It’s sad to see all the complaints, but what else is new? Hopefully, we see the level of competitive play raised across the board and see more wins by smarter strategy versus bigger numbers.
I’m sorry for all the personal attacks people have been making on here and wanted to let you know some of us do understand and appreciate the effort. We look forward to continued attempts at improvement. Thanks for your work and words.

Checked all my mail and still no kit. I got one for dailies today so I suppose it worked out for me, but it seems likely that something isn’t working as intended for me to not have recieved one. Personally the small loss from a seemingly generous gesture doesn’t bother me today, but if whatever error is an issue in the future I at least want to document and research it myself. Thanks for it in concept, anyway.

I like the reworked precise strike, but what you’re suggesting with Beastmaster’s Might seems ludicrously OP. Opening Strike as a mechanic seems to suffer from a common but different root cause than the traits (although some of those could use a look) in that the Ranger’s potential damage is balanced against their pet’s potential damage, and neither one excels in damage particularly when compared to any other class focused on damage. I don’t think the ranger should have to be a dps-only class although the option would be nice. The best solution I’ve seen is to make passive pets that increase their ranger’s damage (think better moas with damage/vulnerability-focus or something complementary to a Frost Spirit).

I’m sure the changes are conceptually finished by now if they’re intended to be implemented by the end of June, but the suggestions have me plotting anyway. You’ll have to forgive me for the common problem of bias in favor of my own build, but here goes: Dogged March: grants a stack of Defiant when targetted by cc (Defiant is added after cc), minor tactics for 5 points summons a Banner of Defense when reviving, 25 points grants Aegis in a 600 AoE, and finally retool activated abilities based on Adrenal strikes to be activated by how much is used, rather than how much is kept (example: Healing Surge would have an activated heal for pressing 6 retaining its base, but the bonus for strikes would be activated when you use adrenaline). Opinions?

I’m on IoJ and play to win. I prefer solo scouting, but so far in this matchup it’s been very challenging to do so. Our BL was contested for all of the six hours I was on today by groups ranging from 3-40. I had one 1v1 today (engie who smoked me, realised later I had equipped a 39 rare gs on my 72 ranger; that’s what I get for loving the Jotun skin too much to run anything else) despite being solo most of the time. I did join in what it seems passes as a zerg on lower tiers (around a dozen) twice, but we were very outnumbered and lost as much as we won. I won’t hand you an easy victory, so expect it to get harder. Don’t be mad, though, get better.

I was hoping for DvP, too. Real quick rebuttals: love stealth and think thieves are underpowered in some ways for being weak in zergs in wvw, welcome the matchmaking changes and so far find them enjoyably exciting, and hope it’s pretty common knowledge by now that the PvP state of the game was set up by players that loved the PvP format. Ask the devs for a SotG on wvw, volunteer your time and effort to make it happen, and if you ask nicely and fortune smiles upon you you’re likely to get it. Hey, it worked for PvP.

It’s awesome that Spiteful Talisman is being fixed. Here’s hoping it works perfectly. As far as the Ranger references/questions went: rangers had a long dry spell of no news, but it has currently been recieving a lot more attention (Robert Hrouda is I believe that so helpful man’s name). Ranger’s pets do tend to die in zergs to focused fire or multiple sources of AoE. They are stupendous solo roamers, though, and in structure defense I usually change to pets that give boons/heal. Being able to change pets situationally seems to make a big difference in comparing their performance to minions in WvW.

Rank Chests Extremely Dissapointing

8 chests= 2 green items not usable by that character, 3 blueprints I can’t use because seige is bugged for my world, and a handful of badges and silver. Actually my most profitable day of wvw so far. Once again, not complaining about free stuff, just being seemingly misled about not having to worry about fifty ectos apiece for ascended trinkets, as I’m currently rocking level 35 trinkets as I can’t afford better gear and seige. I still run dungeons every day to pay for wvw, and it isn’t that bad for me personally. Please don’t attack other people for being let down; it’s low even by trolling standards.

Turrets: An overview.

I run rifle turret and net turret, with the intention to add rocket (level 11!) when available. I have been running them in wvw, though, so I have some knowledge of their baseline stats at eighty. Turret durability seems to be generally too low. I intend to blow up my turret more than pick it up most of the time, but even against random weak mobs, a chance crit can kill it before it does anything. Baseline toughness needs to go up. I really don’t think tying usefulness to traits is a good fix, though buffing the traits could be good on top of fixing untraited, general usefulness seems like it should take priority. I also don’t like putting reduced cds and additional toughness together as some may want to make their turrets last and some may want to put them out more often, but it isn’t a total overlap and balancing around full turret-focused power level would hurt build variety and the strength of untraited turrets.

I think there are some valid points being made here, but the thread as a whole seems to be schizophrenic. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen five different versions of “get back on topic” stating it’s really about this thing that particularly pertains to them. I would rather not have the class redesigned around PvP ignoring all others’ complaints. Personally, I see a lot of pink energy in the depiction of skills and feel that’s what’s really lacking. DS 5 really needs a giant pink explosion, although that might be stepping on Mesmers’ toes.

So, fixing the Necro: stability or stunbreaks would be nice, perhaps flavorfully in converting them into boons. I liked that idea of tying it to DS, too. I, for one, love Target the Weak. I run a hybrid necro and it’s great in its spot in the traits and for the build in general. Reanimator is pretty much a waste for me, but I need Greater Marks, and just live with it. Are their any players/builds that really like it? Would it have to be where it is or could it be merged with PotH?

I don’t play my thief in wvw, even though it is my main and favorite character, and from an rpg perspective a carryover from tabletop sessions twenty years ago. I’ve thought some about it, but felt it was too clearly underpowered as, due to its required traits and weapon abilities and not required but logically reasonable utilities all being dependent on a mechanic which can be countered by blind luck, and literally does nothing to benefit a thief untraited against any player unwilling to surrender from its psychological effect. So, I thought a lot about what to say. Something should be said, I thought, as initially I was unsettled by it, but why it concerns me is this: I recommended this game in good faith based on expectations that it would progress. There are some bugs. There are some balance issues. There is some problem with content-gating. None of that stopped me; I would insist to others to stay hopeful. Look at the good examples, I would say. Many issues and bugs have been fixed. Many more are in development! I wouldn’t say anti-stealth traps have killed my hope, but I have to say I’m disappointed. I hope I don’t have to say why.

Molten Alliance and Potions

I suppose this is more of a suggestion, and well past usefulness, but potions of molten slaying would have been nice. A high exchange rate recipe (maybe 5 dredge+5 flame legion= 1 long duration molten slaying) could help deal with excess of useless potions on the TP and I for one, would have ran them.

I’ve been thinking a lot about running dual swords with longbow as the other set on a banner/might-stacking build. Might loves a split-focus set as it helps conditions and direct damage. I would run Altruism runes, the healing signet, for great justice, that purple banner for boon duration/blast finisher/bonus healing, the Charr battle roar (as close as I can get to two FGJ), and battle standard. High fury uptime with large might stacks, great group support, and potential tankiness. Two of these standing near eachother could get really crazy.

Signet of agility seems like a good fit. Extra damage from precision up and refilling endurance (more might and all the other good things from dodging) with condition removal when used. Recharge is fairly short but of little consequence if using it can put your enemy under 50% for the fury and bonus damage. Also would make might from signet usage more viable without having to change trait point distribution. Drop precision converted to vitality to take it if you’re serious about not caring about tanking, as the extra damage from the might stacks and the damage mitigation from free refills on endurance can easily make up for the minor buff to hp. Does that sound good to you?

Necro Downed HP: 1/3 of what it should be

I hate to change the subject for being rude, but regardless of what the devs or frequent forum posters may intend, do many people here take issue with the performance of the downed state on Necros?
It seemed to be working terrifically for me although I didn’t really run the numbers on it so much as just compare it to how I felt playing it versus my experience with the downed states of other classes. I suppose starting with a higher vitality and then being able to heal yourself with more than just bandage probably obscures the size of the hp, to say nothing of my personal build choice having healing power and terror. Definitely, compared to my ranger’s sometimes roulette skill Chance for extra healing or my thief’s tiny hp my necro seems less frustrating to me while downed.

How would you improve pistols?

Were it up to me, I would make unload a blast finisher instead of projectile. That would give easier access to stealth for p/p and more utility, plus raise the value of all the other projectile finishers the set has.
An extra second or stack with slightly shorter duration of bleed on vital shot would be nice, but I don’t really think it’s the root of the undesirability of the set.
Ricochet is just kitteny, though. Too low of a chance to proc to build around (even on a high risk/reward class like a thief) and as likely to be a liability as useful when it does. Maybe make it inflict a condition on all pistol attacks, but not a chance on a long CD like the crippling one, but something to bring pistol utility or damage up as a whole. I would like vulnerability there (1 stack for 3 sec ideally) but we have that other ugly vulnerability trait which would be overshadowed.
Ultimately I would scrap Ricochet for an extra bleeding trait on all pistol shots in its place if vital shot were to see no change.

As a preface, I have played a total of five hours of wvwvw, all of it the other day to get monthlies. I died three times despite being brand new, upleveled from 17, and playing very aggressively. I can’t really say if arrow carts can be OP, but they can definitely be overpowered with little strategy. Anyway, lots of bad history and quotation usage here. Very funny. Could someone direct me to one of these “top guilds?” I’m not understanding what is meant there, and keep seeing it come up.
