I believe this class makes up for its lack in damage with utility skills. Elementalists have healing skills, AoEs, crowd control abilities, combo fields and finishers, and conjure weapons for your teammates to use. Also, I read somewhere that ranged attacks will never be as powerful as melee attacks, so that could also possibly explain the lack of damage in comparison to heavy armor classes.
I would say staff is better at CC and DPS.
I use it. It’s funny to see people dodge and teleport out of the way because they weren’t expecting it.
Sometimes it triggers again after I do mist form. Not sure what causes that.
Woot! Excited for staff!
I always thought the new LFG tool was for more casual runs, while gw2lfg.com was for more hardcore/speed run groups.
3v1 are fun to watch. they can’t kill you man!
I don’t lag as much in Southsun Cove anymore.

I think staff is viable in PvE. I’m a staff ele myself, and I did a dungeon run today and I did fine. Although, I am in a casual guild that isn’t too concerned with doing speed runs.
I used to run scepter/focus. With the staff, I feel that I can time my dodges better, and the CC skills do help with that as well.
Good stuff. Too bad some parts of the video were choppy.
Will you be streaming regularly as a staff ele?

I’m just looking for more dungeon experience, preferably with a friendly, casual group of people who are willing to teach me. I mainly focus in PvE and SPvP, but I’m willing to help out with whatever the guild wants to do outside of that.
I’m in-game for a few hours everyday.
I was a water elementalist until level 70. I used scepter focus.
I felt that leveling was slightly slower than using attunement swapping. To manage cooldowns, I used the Frost Bow and Ice Elemental.
Single attunement should be fine in PvE. I’ve done it and it’s not bad. However, I did use a conjure weapon of the same element when I needed more damage.
Fire would focus mainly on damage.
In PvP, I’d say it’s better to use all four attunements. It’s a lot easier to deal with opponents when you have CC skills available from the other elements.
I found a few fire builds at http://en.gw2codex.com/. Not sure if they are any good though.

I like this idea!
Here’s my character. I also tried playing around with different face models, but they all looked mixed…
I saw a black male NPC in the human city. He actually looked half black.

I fixed my connection issue. I’m using a wireless connection, and when I first started playing, I was using a very weak signal (3/5 bars).
I just moved my PC closer to my router and I have full five bars, which gives me a stronger signal. Since then, I have been playing with no disconnects.
I guess GW2 requires a strong connection? I played The Secret World and Smite using just a weak wireless signal and did not go through any connection issues with either game.
I just bought this game today and can’t even get out of the starter zones because of this connection error.
